Ok, so I decided to go all the way around and it looks bitchin! Gonna post pics later when it is dark so we can see the full affect. one of the downsides of buying cheap for products and not testing them before instal is that you get three of the lights on one of the strips that do not lite. I will leave it the way I have it and buy a new set. They were $3.50 per set (yep, two) including shipping so I don't really think there is a point to arguing with the vendor. Pics to follow!

runningslow, you mention your phone, I have a Palm Pre that is so hacked I can't call customer service any more. Overclocked to 800mHz and patches to the OS galore. I really like the WebOS and think it will be great when HP puts it on a tablet.

LED issue
by: jake aka:ventoscoot - Jun 13, 2010 22:50:49 GMT -6
Post by jake aka:ventoscoot on Jun 13, 2010 22:50:49 GMT -6
I bet your issue is that LED bulbs are positive/negative specific. Meaning your regular bulbs can get put in however you want and will allways light up. If LED bulbs are put in backwards (specifically on the blade type bases) they won't light. Hopefully this is your issue, just put them in the other way. The problem on the bayonet ones is that if they are wired "wrong" for the LED you are stuck with getting a new socket and soldering the wires on the oposite way from the OEM wiring. Luckily, the OEM bulbs will still work no mater what. I have modded LED's into everything from campers to cars and trucks and this comes up all the time. Superbrightleds is a great vendor and is who I got my LED's for my camper light mods from. A little pricey, but well worth it so I would doubt it is the bulbs. If this makes sense, cool, if not, and you need clarification, PM me and I will woalk you through it. It is not really as hard as it sounds.

Ok, if you cannot tell by now, I am a "can't leave well enough alone" kind of guy. I really like the 'white-light halo' look in car headlights and in a few sport bikes I have seen so I thought I would mod mine. It took a minute to find a vendor (even on ebay) that had what I was looking for. The strips are the same type as I used for the ground affects that I purchased from Harobor Freight only are white. I am not finished, but thought I would post what I have so far. I am trying to decide if I should leave the lights as is, or complete the whole halo. Any suggestions? Enjoy! Plain headlights, no mods: Lenses removed: shots of the tabs that hold the lens on: Stock lights (well not stock, I replaced the main with the one you see, and the small marker with the LED one) I will wire the halo's into the existing marker (small LED one) so they come on together: What the LED strips look like: Front view with lights installed (no lenses): Side view: Close up: Another front view: W/Lenses set on for mock-up: I think it will be pretty stealth unless the lights are on. Feedback please on the current outline or to continue them all the way around.

I put new speakers on this weekend and for some white LED strips in to mod the healights for the "halo" look. Should be a great look for the headlights and very distinctive. Got a mount for my phone commng that I will mod so I can have my GPS and toons as well. As soon as I have the headlights done I will post pics!

how well does the exhaust work and where and how much was the header pipe? Thanks and by the way nice work. So far it works well, it is louder than the old one, but since recently I am riding with a lot of folks with 150cc 2 stroke vespas and Stellas no one notices. ;D The header was $25 (all stainless) and was bought from 'headman' over on SD. It is a very solid piece of harware.

VERY cool exhaust, love the canister look. Is that not different from your exhaust in the other album? Anyway, exactly how does that work? The bung you installed measures O2 left in the exhaust or what? Then you adhust the mixture accordingly I assume, that would be handy. Rich Completely different exhaust, I stil have that one and the header but so far, I am really liking this one. I will not attempt to explain how the sensor works other than to say it converts whatever it senses to voltage and the guage reads it. I have not really been able to tune it yet, but I know that I am running waay rich at idle, and I am assuming at speed as well. I need to adjust the mount of the guage so that I can read it better while I am riding as right now it is almost imposible.

Seems to work great. A little louder than my old NCY one, but looks great. Now to jetting and tuning.

OK, there was a thread on the dog forum about installing an airl fuel gauge and the benefits of it. I thought this would be VERY cool so.... My fellow ASSC Utah club member Skye (yes the one whol built the cuctom chooter) is an awsome welder and helped me by welding an adapter and bung onto the stainless Header. I still need to tune it, I can say I am running waaay rich and am expecting some speed gains when I lean it out. Here are some pics. Sorry not to many, I will answer any questions. The exhaust is my version of the lawnmower muffer mod with a fancy tip over it. (posting the links to the album because for whatever reason the IMG codes are not working) PHOTOBUCKET ALBUMI like the location of the gauge, jus tnot how it sits. I need to mod it so it will angle up so I can read it while I ride. I am also going to put in a volt meter on the oposite side of it just to balance it out in the looks department.

You will find headlight bulbs for replacement, but my understanding is they are not as bright.
