That is a great question Sprocket. From what I can tell it is high though. How do you check it and what should it be?

Alley I built it to a full 200cc, I wish I would have known all I know now before I built this one, I threw a lot of money at it and I could have bought 2 nice engines from Steven at Monster for what I paid for this one. Thanks for all the help and patience. I am ready to ride!!! BTW, What size carb do you have on your ride?

I recently got back from my trip to Europe and the project got off to a rocky start. Before I left I dropped off the engine at the machine shop and had the piston shaved down. I put the engine together and had a few issues with timing but I took the engine back down and re-timed it. It started and run good. After a few seconds I noticed that there was an oil leak coming from behind the kick start gear. So that seal is coming in tomorrow and I will install them tomorrow. I am quite sure that tomorrow it will run like a beast. My two questions are
1. With the 200cc engine do I need more than 93 Octane? Will I benefit any by running a higher Octane gas?
2. I can not exactly remember how the rear tire goes on. I think there is a "long" washer that goes in between the swing arm and the wheel itself.
I have a Tao Tao Power Max 150cc

Thanks Alley that is what I was thinking but I wanted to make sure I was right. A few months ago someone post a fuel/vacuum line diagram and I can not find it anywhere. Do you by chance know where I can find that diagram?
Thanks

Finally had a opportunity to work on Project Over my head and I got the engine from the machine shop after they machined the piston down some. I had it running and while it was doing so gas was pouring out of the float drain tube and the exhaust. There was gas even coming out of the carburetor. I am looking for suggestions to get this monster running by weeks end. Thanks in Advance Guys!!!

In the awesome country of ours, many people look at you funny if you are riding a scooter, but in Italia and Sicilia scooters run the roads. Cars are plentiful but Vespas and other brands run the streets. But I am so glad to be a home!!!

I did try that, as well I stacked both of the spacers (2.35mm + 1.57mm) and a gasket and it was still a problem with the 94 link chain being 1 link to short. I would place the chain on the sprocket for the cam and the rear of the cam would not seat right and I broke a can retainer trying to bolt it down, so I ordered the new one from scooter elements and then installed the longer chain and repeated the process with the 96 link chain. The process was repeated and the 96 link chain was about two lengths to long.

I I also bought the smaller 1. something spacer because I thought I Would nee it. Although I did not try to install it because I thought the larger spacer including the gaskets would cover the +4 increased stroke from the crank. I did his because I ruined to heads because of the piston hitting the valves. Honesly thinking about selling this damn engine and getting 232cc kit.

I have spoken to Walter and I already have the spacer from MBE and I have a 94 link chain that when installed the cam kicks up in the rear and forces the cam retainer not to want to sear properly. I just broke one and bought a new one from Scooter Elements. I thought increasing the chain length to a 96 link chain and that one just flops around, so I am at a lost as to what to do. The space is 2.35mm, a 63mm bbk, 61mm head, and a project that I cannot seem to finish!

I never installed the chain tensioner at that point of determining that the chain was to long. For the heck of it I did install the tensioner after that to find out if it had any impact on the chain and it did not. Even with the shorter chain I did not install the tensioner. The chain issue is really perplexing me and I am not sure how to even approach this problem. I have a boat load of $ in this project and the chain is holding me up. I could break the chain but am afraid that if it breaks under load. re Shaving the piston would allow me to remove the spacer and allow me to install the factory chain. I wish I had the time to work on this now but I am going to be out of country for a month and this is just gonna sit and my mind is going to munch on this project while I am gone.

Does anyone know how to measure and allow the machine shop to know"how" much to shave off to piston in order to use the factory chain when installing a stroker crank (+4).

Those are some awesome pics, first silly question, when you remover the starter clutch, the washer on top of the thrust bearing has a fat side and a rounded side (edges). Which side makes contact with the thrust bearing.
Second question - What kind of Camera are you using?

I tried installing my new 96 link chain and this chain is WAY to dang gone long. I would use a chain breaker but have yet to find one that looks like it might work. I am now open for suggestions!!!

Turns out there was a problem with the part itself. The company is replacing it
