Hey Ger, when I picked up my Magnum from Jim it need a new chain. As I remember he ordered a long chain from Yamaha and measured and cut it from that. I think he also added a half link to get it to it's minimum possible length. I would suggest you give him a shout just to double check.

I would suspect more that water pooled on curcuit boards or in connectors than got into the stator, but again that is not so impossible either. It is definitly the result of shorting out though. A trash bag even if it's just over the handle bars where the majority if the electrical is when every there's even a hint of rain may have saved the day.

I believe that refers to "intake and "exhaust" valves, adjust both. Most generally what happens is the the exhaust valve expands with the heat of the exhaust gases and with the heat expands the valve and the ajustment tightens up or gets smaller and exhaust valve doesn't quite close all the way. When the fresh gas goes the the compression stroke it escapes because the exhaust valve isn't shut all the way. I think I got that right, anybody see any need for correction, please chime in.

Ger, I'm sorry to hear that you've been under the weather. I sure hope that you get everything under control and are able to enjoy life for a very very long long time. I still owe you and Lee a backup set of lights. It's been a little crazy for me also, I just finished shaping the PC boards. I ordered some blue leds and holders to give the light cover the old blue dot tail light look. I'll through in the parts with some instructions so that you can change the board out and add the leds. If you want let me know and I'll mod a set of light covers and send them along also. In the mean time get healthy and take good care of yourself.

p.s. the same goes for you to Lee.

My two cents, like Jim said READ, here's the link to this forums thread on dealers. scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=critiquesRead the posts and make your list of questions that feel were not answered to your satisfaction and after that start asking. This way you are armed with the knowledge to ask appropriate questions and not the same old ones over again. If your not in a big hurry to make your purchase there is another forum that many of the member here belong to also and you may want to read that forum vendor critiques also. ed

mike6736, I am not sure if this will help but anyway I have a an adobe file for the Linhai YP250 Service manual that shows very good block electrical diagrams. These diagrams are technical so you do need to know how to read them. If you think it would help just let me know and I will email the file to you and be more than happy to help you work through it. If you would like I can pm messages. If you have access to an air compressor I would use it at low pressure to blow out the key switch and flood it with WD40 and then blow that out. It seems to me that the problem is the key switch. Because the key switch has a few electrical contacts there is probably a certain amount of shorting out occurring.
