ce: Thanks for your helpful input. I don't mean to sound like such a newb, but I am used to working on fuel injected automobiles. I was unable to find the hose that connects to the fuel drain. DSCN4760-EDIT by mjkeogh303, on Flickr I missed this one earlier. This elbow normally points downward, I rotated it up for clarity. What is it for?DSCN4761-EDIT by mjkeogh303, on Flickr Is this an EGR valve? What does this connect to?DSCN4762-EDIT by mjkeogh303, on Flickr Is this a vapor canister vented to atmosphere?

Well, we chased the harness and all we could come up with was a melted fuse holder. The wires checkout physically and electrically. I'll connect everything back up and let ya'll know.

I took a real hit when I sold my Znen. I watched CL ads and saw many 150cc scooters for new-in-the-crate prices that weren't moving. I priced it below that and sold it within a week. I got just over half of what I paid at a brick and mortar store.

I see that the Wildfire website has only one scooter model and one scooter/motorcycle listed.
No one will ever pay retail for a vehicle sold by an individual. New vehicle buyers take an immediate depreciation hit when they "drive it off the lot". No matter what one does to fix or improve a vehicle, there will never be a return on investment for repairs. Buyers don't care what you've done to it; all they care about is the current running, cosmetic condition, and can they get a better deal somewhere else. If you want to sell a vehicle (or anything else for that matter) you must take market condition into consideration.

Check out my thread in the 250 section. It isn't running yet, but I am told it will.

Cool! Looks like fun. Can I ask what you paid for it? I paid $300 for it because the previous owner claimed it would cost $300 - $400 in labor to replace the damaged wire harness. He included the new harness too. Since he said the scooter went south after connecting a charger overnight, thus melting the fuse and wire, I believe he connected the leads backwards. I'll keep this thread updated as I get things sussed.

Since I have my carb removed and need to replace my airbox, would it benefit my scooter to install a performance intake?

The previous owner said the fuse problem happened overnight with a connected battery charger. I may have my brother-in-law (an ex-aviation electrician) take a look.
A newish carb came with the scooter. I think it has been off the scooter for about a week and a half.

Thanks for your support everyone. For some reason the carb was removed so I have to deal with that and the electrical issues the previous owner said it had. His mechanic told him the harness would likely need to be replaced, so he bought one and included it in the sale to me. The front tire has severe feathering on the tread blocks and should be replaced. I'll get one with either a center rib or circumferential grooves so I don't get that snow tire effect in the future.

NOOOOOOO!!! I don't think you should buy it. Too much of a risk!! Where is it? Too far from you! I hope to be able to get away from work and make the two hour drive. I've got printing deadlines today.

I may work a deal on this scooter that needs work. Is it worth the risk? He is asking $300.
