Happy B Day. I'm a few ahead of you. I roofed my garage last week and felt a little sore like a 21 yr. old would. Had to put the scooter in the shed which makes one age faster.

I believe there should be a metal washer the size of the O-ring that protects the O-ring from the spring.

Did you check the intake manifold o ring, vacuum hoses for cracking? I'm inclined to believe it's a air leak. Good luck stay with it you will solve the problem.

Don't drive it like you stole it and with maintenance it should last as long as you want it too.

jct842 He mention the engine turning over as if it had no compression. You can check spark with out removing the plug so surmised he had not check it. You never know.
