Oh one other thing i noticed. This 18mm keihin carb came with a 35 pilot jet, Stock pilot was 33 but it doesnt fit on the Keihin. The threads are different.. On other 50s Ive had i was able to get pilots as low as 32 but noithing smaller than a 35 for this one. Could this be an issue?

My scoot has an issue. Runs great most of the time!
Only problem i have is when i go to take off after sitting at an intersection for more that 30 seconds or so, when i give it some throttle it sputters a bit then goes. Hot or cold doesnt matter. AF adjustments havent helped. If i stop for a moment then go alls well. If i put on center stand and let it idle for a few it does the same thing. If I only let it idle for a second or so and give her gas no problem.

Are The guides on the rear plate interchangeable? How are they supposed to attach? Do they need to remain fixed to the plate or can the move? I have 3 variators and two of them kind of free float in the variator and will sometimes come off when removing weights. The other they seem to go on tight but sometimes shift making the opening and closing of the variator difficult.

Both are 16x13 and it came with rollers. The sliders i had. When I saw this graphic it does appear that rollers of equal size does show the variator a bit further out with the roller.

So I did some checking. The stock boss and back plate look identical to the performance parts. I did see that the performance slides seemed larger and had more play than the stock guides so i swapped them out for the stock. I see that the back oif the variator does not sit ecaclty into the rear of the case because there is a raised area on the shaft thats about an inch long so thats where it rests. I suppose if i had to I could put a washer behind the variator to take up that tiny bit of slack....The rattle has been cut by 75% with the guides swapped out but the belt still does not touch the variator at rest. The ad was a variator for 50cc QMB139. Is it possible it was mislabeled since it is not as thick as the stock variator? Should i shop for one that is the same thickness and touches the belt? AHHA!!! If i put in rollers in place of sliders the slack goes away! So it appears that the sliders are doing what they are advertised to do...sit lower in the variator.

umkay! I guess now that I have my variator dialed in and running exactly between 7400-7700 from start to 40 recently this was the first time i rode it seeing the dark tach when i had some light so that accounts for the few hundred or so more than I get warmed up.
O also believe that temperature fluctuations and AF changes can aslo effect max rpms? I notice that small changes in the screw not only changes idle but can also help or hurt performance and rpms as well.

Ok. I also raised my idle 300 Rpms more. Does that added rpm get added to the over all Rpms at top speed? If 40 wAs 7500 will that become 7800 now? I noticed that this morning which prompted the thread. Or to rephrAse. Does the beginning idle rpms impact overall max rpms?

In general are riding RPMS supposed to be higher when running cold until the enricher cuts off? Im noticing RPMS mid to upper 7000s cold and low to mid 7000s when warm and cruising.

The plastic guides are in. What i think we are hearing is the play between the guides and the noise of the weights since the belt is not quite touching the face since its a tad shorter in height (not diameter) when laid down flat next to the stock variator. The rear plate is flush againts the bearing and doesnt move. The boss and front geared face are tight as well and dont move. Maybe the new guides have too much room in between. I could try the stock guides. When its oriented in this position it is shorter. Disregard the micrometer! You'd be surprised how hard it was to find a pic of a variator side!

Everything is tight as best I can tell. Since there's room on the boss I know the face plate is on tight and not pushed against the belt. It's a. It shorter if I lay them flat on the table.

Is this normal? I noticed that my new variator has a bit of play when all buttoned up. Theres a bit of movement back and forth but the rear plate of the variator appears to be flush in the back and not moving. only thr front plate has movement....Normal? The boss inserts to the rear variator plate, then the front pulley and washer then nut. Seems to rattle a tad more when i blip the throttle at idle for a second than my other stock setup. I did note that the new rear face is about an eighth inch shorter than stock if i lay them flat side by side. I thinks its allowing the belt to lay exactly on the boss allowing the best initial gearing? Or are performance variator weight larger than stock? Maybe to keep them from rattling in the different angled ramps? I dont have anything to measure them accurately to tell.
