Ok, I have not been able to find a suitable used donor engine for this project. So I have decided to buy a new engine and rebuild my current one. Any suggestion on where to buy?

LoL, ya I know when I get older I'm gonna get one of them scooters also. Then I'm gonna upgrade the motors and give it extra wattage. Then it will burn rubber through the malls Hehe. The other day I came out of my local hardware store and there was a gang of harley riders looking at my trike. I walked over to it and asked them if they needed any help. Turns out they were a nice bunch. One of them builds trike rear ends for harley's and started asking me all kinds of questions about the trike.

E.F.I.! At 90+mpg I'm not to worried about it. I am interested to see what what kind of performance I get when I install a E.F.I system on the magnum.

I have a 50mm bbk=83.045cc according to ECU software with big valve head, A9 cam, free flow mesh air filter, and a supertrapp exhaust. I do get 90-95mpg. I have it set a little on the rich side to ensure I don't have a melt down. Otherwise I expect I would get better than 100mpg and a little more power. I figured I save about $30 a week running local errands as opposed to driving my truck, so it would pay for itself over a 10-15 week time period. I gained about 3mph up the hills I normally ride up and gained about 5mph top speed will get more when I change gears. Also this trike is heavier than a two wheel. I think on a lighter scoot the gains would be better

Alley, I finally got it running. Throttle response is crisper than with a carb. Overall it has a little more pep. Fuel efficiency depends on how ya ride but still good. I ride wot most of the time. So far the only problem is the system puts a strain on the charging. If I ride on long trips It ain't bad. but lots of starts and long idles the battery needs to be charged. I am going to try a lower amp fuel pump when they are available. I am still tweeking the software for cold starts but other than that I am more than satisfied with the system.I'm going to try it on the magnum but need to order a larger injector. and flash the ecu. Bashan, you are correct this is a neat project. My trike is my hobby horse. I didn't plan on recouping my money and am not worried about fuel efficiency. I just like to tinker and try new things just to say I done it. ;D Next projects stroker crank and then turbo Roy

I,m going to get one. I plan on a 50mm bbk big bore head. I'm looking for an old non running engine and will do a complete rebuild with better bearings. I thought about a new engine, But the cost of the engine plus the crank, bbk, bearings, seals, and gaskets will double the price. Plus if I build it I know what goes in it. ;D

You will not be dissapointed. You may need to modify the throttle cable. be sure to install the O2 sensor properly, they burn out quick if not. Get their CDI. It takes a bit of tweaking with the software. The fuel pump is a large drain on the charging system. The battery will not charge properly if you start it a lot and at idle. I'm waiting on a lower amp pump to see if that helps. I have an older system, the newer ones are a little better though. Also Matt at Ecotrons Is super helpful.

Alley, might try nappa for a set with a steel O.D. An oil seal puller for auto's might be to big. Small engine tool suppliers have smaller seal pullers. I have used small sheet metal screws and a pair of vise grips. Also a pick set with a hooked pick works good. Just be careful not to scratch the bore, a small amount of silicon in the bore helps to seal it if you do.

Mine was slinging grease out also. When I had taken it apart to fix the axle I cleaned out the Chinese grease. It was like Vaseline. I refilled it with a good synthetic grease. When I put it back together I sealed it up with silicone gasket maker. I made sure to get around the shaft that the spider gears are on. The grease don't sling out any more. I also have another idea on how to keep the axle from pulling out.

I got mine From a guy that only put 70 miles on it. He couldn't find the manual for it, but the manual is worthless anyway. I think Alleyoop knows more about these trikes than the people that build them. I learned a lot from him.

I think I saw a set at auto zone the other day. Sears also has a good set.
