Josh, did you ever finally determine what was wrong with that motor? Rich Nope. I just stopped digging when I deemed a complete replacement to be cheaper. I suspect its one of the main crank bearings, but I never opened the crankcase to verify. [on a side note: If all goes according to plan and I can convince the wife... I'm about 1 week away from paying off the new motor.]

Does it sounds anything like this? If it does, STOP RIDING IT and change the oil. When you go to drain the oil, hold a strong magnet in the stream. If it comes out clean, you're lucky and you're just changing the oil. If it doesn't come out clean, you may want to read my thread: THE MATRIX REBUILDING

If you're asking seriously... both are real places. Tasmania is an island nation off the southern coast of Australia and if my memories serves me correctly (and without resorting to Google), Transylvania is a region of Romania in Eastern Europe.

those clips are 100% necessary! Of course not having them is a good reason to give to the Mrs. to need a new variator, but you can just buy a set of the clips. Yeah, the only problem with that happened to me... I destroyed my factory 115mm variator (pictured above) and replaced with a cheapo 108mm one. Didn't have the money for a new performance one.

One thing I noticed is while changing out the rollars I only have one of those little groove clips instead of 3 that go on the backplate that holds the rollars. So I orderd a new variator. It seems to want to clank at low rpm's. Yeah, you don't want to run without those the clips. You'll destroy the variator. Trust me... I know:

That beats the crap out of my flywheel removal tutorial. Feel free to replace it if you haven't already! I'm not just saying this, I looked at your post and read it twice before I proceeded. I don't think I would have known how to start if I hadn't, yours stays my friend. Rich Well, at least supplement it with your pics! My pics are crap!

Here's a bump, since I can't let my thread fall off the first page of the "50cc to 200cc" section.
I took some pictures over the weekend of my banged up plastics. I'm going to have some fun trying to repair this stuff, but I'm not really sure how to start. Some of the broken stuff looks pretty hard to fix. I'm especially worried about my front fender.
Pics are coming!

My first belt blew out around 8000 miles. Left me on the side of the road, in the middle of no where... had to have the scoot towed, because I didn't own a truck at the time and none of my truck owning friends were nearby or available to help.
I'll never ride without a spare again.

Thanks! No rush, its not like I'm going to run out and buy them right now. I'm still thinking I might try to get some hard cases for mine, but I always like having options. If they'll hold my work laptop, they'd definitely be worth considering.
I assumed they'd have some straps, but I only see the ones across the top in your pictures.

Nice find! Its funny how the all the different Wal-Marts will carry slightly different merchanise, especially when it comes to sporting goods and automotive. I haven't seen anything like those bags at any of the Wal-marts in my area, but I may have to go on a hunt. There are dozens of Wal-Marts within a short drive of my house.
I've got a couple questions if you don't mind. How secure are those saddlebags to the bike? Do they have straps to tie them down or do they just drape over the bike and get held by the seat? Have you ridden with them on... do they blow around any? What are the approximate inside dimensions?

new netbook

Just got back from wallmart, with a new netbook case. my investment is going up. I had $139 in the book till ths morning. I am retired, have no legitimate use for a computer other than my own enjoyment in surfing the net and getting tips and information on my hobbies. If I had to use microsoft I would not have a computer at all, thats how bad I hate them people. I have been using linux since right before windows xp came on the market and I read the user license agreement for it. I was all set to get an xp upgrade till I read the ULA. Not sure I could even turn off a windows computer but can pull plug on it! Linux is a whole lot easier to use today over when I started with it but was a breath of fresh air compared to win98 which kept blaming me for an "illegal operation" and then promptly crashed. john I currently have the aforementioned laptop of mine dual booting Ubuntu and Win 7. I love linux and enjoy the freedom, but I've never been able to get the MS monkey off my back. I'm trying. I've dabbled with a few flavors over the years. Ironically, the first OS I ever paid money for was a retail package of Mandrake Linux 7.1 Things have definitely gotten more streamlined since that first experience.

new netbook

Congrats! I love the netbook concept. Nice little machines. My son has a t-shirt that says "when you live on the cutting edge, be prepared to bleed". Good luck! I need a T-Shirt that says that! I had been looking at netbooks for a long time, since I did not own a laptop at the time (aside from my work laptop) and I wanted something basic to supplement my desktop at home. It would have been great for the basic media needs and websurfing. I, however as a geek extraordinaire, finally decided I wanted something with a little more "umph" and bought a 13" Toshiba laptop, bigger hard drive, more RAM, stand alone GPU and dual core CPU, but still no optical drive. Still highly portable, but can handle some more demanding tasks like some basic gaming and HD video without bogging down. Just wasn't as cheap as a netbook though... Maybe if I hadn't bought that, I could have fixed my scooter by now.

I didn't actually notice until now that the listed seller on the link I provided is enviromoto. I would endorse them, since they're in our vendor section on the forum.
