Maybe you mentioned it before, cyborg, but what kind of speeds are you hitting with your Vespa?

Here, it was damn near 70 today. Supposed to be the same tomorrow. Then, we're in for another 5" of snow and a 30 degree high on Wednesday. I'm with ya lantern. I've about had my fill of this winter crap.

Darn it KZ. I guess since I can't ride it anymore today, now I have nothing to do but fire up the grill and see how far into this Sammy Adams variety pack I can get. Oh well. Somehow, I'll manage.

I did. I just got back from my first neighborhood ride. This thing is a hoot! It's not running great though. It wants to die when I let off the throttle and doesn't like to start if it's already warm. I kinda anticipated it. I think it's a combination of the valves being set too tight and the fact that I tuned the carb when it was about 35 degrees outside. I'm gonna let it cool off and fix all that, then I should be in good shape for a twilight ride. By the way, I do have 93 octane and Sea Foam in in now, so that drastic change in fuel makeup could have a little to do with it too. Did you get yours back on the road cyborg?

I put my tool kit together today. I will definitely pare it down over time, but until I develop some trust in the scooter, I'm packing heavy. I had a "leather" case from a generic roadside safety kit given to me years ago for Christmas. That case fits the under-seat compartment perfectly. In it, I've got: First Aid Kit and some other left-overs from the original kit(mylar blanket, "help" sign, etc..), metric wrenches, screwdrivers, two flashlights, lighter, heat shrink, 18G stranded wire, knife, needle nose pliers, enameled magnet wire, aluminum chain link fence attachment wire (this stuff is amazing by the way), nut driver, velcro strapping, some of the original fuel/vac line that came on the bike, hose clamps, and the best tool I've ever purchased: Kobalt Double Drive Ratchet, multimeter, and probably a bunch of other stuff I'm forgetting. As I remove tools, I'm going to add a few spare parts.

It sounds like you've got it under control with the vise grips. I say ride it!

I rode it in and out of the garage. That's about as far as I got. I'm still waiting on the MCO to get it registered. I'm about 90% certain it will be in tomorrow's mail. If not, I'll cry. If I hadn't had all the kids at home by myself today, I probably would've gone around the block a few times. I'm gonna ride it till it breaks tomorrow though. I already told the wife to not plan on seeing much of me tomorrow. Shockingly, she didn't balk at that so it sounds like I'm in the clear.

I don't know if it would help or not, but I subscribe to cycleteacher.com for $5/month. I had a question about vacuum lines a few days ago and they made a video for me, available to all their subscribers, which details the vac/fuel configuration on a 150 GY6.

Yes, he rode his ITALIAN scooter over 100 miles. Thank heavens it wasn't Japanese or he would have ridden straight to a trailer store. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

I noticed the smilies earlier and thought I had just previously missed them. Thanks for confirming I'm not totally crazy.

Believe it or not, I've been inadvertently using your method, cyborg. I've heard of people having trouble getting this engine to start when warm, plus I'm trying to learn its personality a little. I've been heading out to the garage and firing it up on the stand, letting it warm up for 5 minutes or so, then shutting it down, doing an immediate re-start to see how it acts, then let it sit for a few hours. I've done this cycle probably 4 times in the last 24.
