Hey guys, My Evo 150 came with some really chintzy decals. I'm not putting them on. What I would like however is one of the raised chrome emblems that just says "TaoTao." There's one on the rear of the scooter found here. Do any of you know where I can buy a couple of these? Thanks!

I just bought it earlier this week. Viewing the forum on your phone is easier for sure. It has the feel you would expect from an app and doesn't require the zooming and moving around required in the web browser on your phone. My only complaint so far, and it's a big one, is that there isn't (at least I haven't found it) an option to view recently updated posts and threads. When I get on the forum, that's all I really care to see. I like to see the active conversations and topics. From my experience so far, which is less than a week, the app is better suited for the guy who comes to the forum to look up a particular topic, not to the guy who periodically checks in to see what is going on. I have the Android version BTW.

Alleyoop, what about a place like "Batteries Plus" or whatever your local battery specialty store is? I've never been in one, but batteries is their business. Do you have any idea how their prices stack up?

I haven't looked into it much, but I did find myself looking at the Wal-Mart website yesterday looking at these. They're only like $18 there.

I'm no scooter expert. I do know a little bit about electrical systems though. To me, that ignition switch seems like a dead giveaway. If you've got to "jiggle" it around to start it, my bet is that the jiggling caused by riding is causing it to die. If this were my scoot, I'd get a new ignition switch on order. Welcome to the forum by the way. I'm pretty new myself. These guys are awesome.

Hey Matt, is this something you were surprised to see when you got home from your ride, or did you realize some gravel got kicked up when it happened? It makes me wonder if it might be a good idea to proactively reinforce that front panel with some fiberglass weave on the back.

Matt, tell me why you decided to mount them there and why you did both a USB and 12V. My plan was just to buy one of these: www.amazon.com/Marine-Grade-Cigarette-Lighter-Socket/dp/B0002KRC5Y, and have it available somewhere on the outside of the scoot. I'm considering maybe even devoting the whole glovebox to after-market electrical crap that's surface mounted and using the door on the glove compartment only as an access panel to the guts of the electronic junk. By the way, your glovebox is much more sealed than mine. I have two gaping holes for the hinge clearance. Yours at least are slotted. I couldn't put, for instance, a marble in mine. It would fall right out the bottom of one of the holes. I like what you've done here though. Nice work!

Sounds like I should just leave the PAIR system alone then... at least until it starts causing problems.
I'm happy, and a bit surprised, to hear the positive feedback about my PDI so far. I'll be honest, I thought that this was all just standard stuff one needs to do to a Chinese scoot. Sadly, it will probably be Sunday before I'm able to do any more work on it.

Too cold for me. I didn't even go outside to work on mine today, let alone ride it!

Alleyoop, I've already got the plug removed and the snap-off screws removed. Hell, that's the only reason I took the thing off. It sounds like I can just slap the thing back in there and then when I fire it up, adjust the carb, right? What's your position on the valves?

Oh crap. I just thought of another question I meant to ask you guys. I'd like to add a 12V cigarette lighter socket for powering accessories in a pinch, but mostly for easy hookup of my trickle charger. My plan is to wire the outlet in parallel with the main power leads for the rest of the electrical system. Simply stated, I would hook up the battery as normal, but also wire the leads of the outlet directly to the battery terminals. It makes electrical sense to me. What say you? If you're cool with doing that, should I fuse it? My natural inclination is to wire the outlet directly to the battery, fused with a 15A fuse.

Hey guys, As most of you regulars know, I got my scooter yesterday. I've got it pretty much completely torn down and ready to really go through it with the proverbial fine toothed comb. I have two questions for you:
1. While I've got the body panels off, should I check the valve clearances? I've seen some who recommend doing so, but others say that TaoTao has been doing a great job at properly adjusting them at the factory. Is it worth the extra effort?
2. I also have the carburetor out of it. It's on the kitchen counter. My wife is thrilled. While I've got it out, should I consider re-jetting for any reason? What about adjusting the height of the pin? I have no reason to believe it won't work just fine the way it is, but I do already have it out so if there's anything I should consider doing to it, now is the time.
As always, Thanks for the help!
