Well, my kittens are mostly doing good. Had a huge scare for a few days with the runt. He got a small cut near his left eye and ended up fighting an infection that led to seizures for a couple days. But hasn't had one in almost a week now so vet thinks he will be fine but I will most definitely be keeping him now, just in case he has problems later in life. I have 2 calico girls - Tasha & Pepper. Golden tabby female - Tika. Gray & white tiger male - Tanis. And the runt is a silver-tipped black male I named Loki. All the kittens have greens eyes. Tika & Tanis were named for characters from the Dragonlance series of books cause they were born in a box of them. Had to throw a couple away cause Momma shredded them. Loki, Pepper & Tasha were named from Avengers. Yes, I'm a huge sci-fi/fantasy book buff & LOVE Marvel universe. I even write Marvel fan fiction on Archive of Our Own (AO3). My oldest son is gonna take Tasha and I may end up keeping the others, if I can't find them good homes I will keep them because I refuse to send any animal to the pound (ours has a 90% kill rate for dogs & 95% kill rate for cats). You can see pixs of the kittens on my photobucket. s67.photobucket.com/user/genseeker13/library/Kittens%20born%20April%2010%202014?sort=3&page=1

12" tires means its a long case right? The engine tag is buried under some hoses so I can't see it hardly at all. The owners manual is very poor with horrible misspellings and no references for measurements. Under gas tank it simply says 6 so I'm guessing that's L, so a little over 1.5 gal.
Anyways, rode out to the dam yesterday, about 6-7 miles away for a party (I'll post pics of the lake later). She hits about 45 downhill but they were fairly short hills, less than 1/10 mile. Up the same hills she drops to less than 10 mph. Me and a load of groc (under seat/trunk & backpack) I'm looking at around 200-225 lbs weight depending on how much canned goods I buy. I have no idea on stock weights in variator but what would be a good size to change them to for this weight? Part of the trip to my nearest groc store has a hill with about 20 deg incline but around 1/10th mile long, rest is pretty close to level.
Also, where's a good place to get one of those magnetic drain plugs & filters for the oil? Want to get one before the first oil change.

Well, picked up my new scoot yesterday. Its a dark blue/white/black Jazzie branded ATM50. When the guy assembled it the carb was no good so he put an aftermarket carb on it before I picked it up. He also gave me some advice for riding it here in the mountains. Says most people end up needing more power than the 50 cc so they frequently end up installing a 72 cc top end for people but the bill just says engine work so nobody can trace that it's not longer a 50 cc. If I bring him a kit, it'll cost me$50 to have it put in. We also discussed maybe changing the roller weights after I've had it a couple weeks so I can see how well it pulls. I've seen on here this can help maintain speed in areas with hills to climb so will probably end up doing that as well. Don't know what the stock weights are but what would be good weights for up to 200 lb person to ride scoot? My older son is taller than me and built like a bull, almost 200 lbs @ 6' tall.
Only problem I've had so far is on my ride home yesterday the gas gauge stopped working, guessing its a loose cable but didn't have time to call the guy today but that's no big deal.

Finally got someone with experience out to look at the scooter. He tried starting it, then just shook his head. Couple hours later he had engine out and open and showed me what he figured was wrong - piston is cracked. Recommended replacing engine rather than rebuild because he showed me scoring in the piston well. Said he wouldn't be confident damage would not be repeated if just rebuilt. Said carb was problem, ran too lean & damaged engine.
So we looked online & engine is around $400 plus shipping, tax for some places. But he offered me $300 for it as it sits. His son has the same scooter but it is damaged but runs good. Son not interested in selling the engine though. Was last gift from his grandfather before he died. Just need the plastics and can't buy complete set online for $300.
Also, we have a local shop selling chinese scoots & they service them. He knows them and got them to knock $75 off the price and he's giving them the $300 towards a brand new scoot, plus he's financing the balance for me with no interest. We have a contract drawn up and he won't pick up my damaged scoot until after I get the new one, which should be ready tomorrow, they are assembling it for me tonight since they didn't have a blue one ready. I won't have to give him any $$ till next month and then only $25 month but I can give him more. So the new scoot will be $775-75-300=$400 cost to me. This guy is a good friend of my brother's and my brother told me I could trust him to do me right.

I can see fuel flowing into the carb when I suck the vac line & when I try to start so fuel flow is good. Will get a video & upload it. Cleaned the carb and everything is clear there. It wasn't run empty just low but could bad gas make it act up like this? If that's worth a shot I'll get a gallon somewhere else and drain it and try to see if that fixes it.
I got gas at that place before when I could still afford a vehicle but it was the low grade & my truck ran fine. Wouldn't think the higher grades would be watered but who knows....

Well my scoot still isn't running. My brother had to borrow a vehicle to come over and he checked what he could but his knowledge is more more car oriented.
She's getting a good spark. We took the auto choke off and it is in the closed position but since we can't get it running, we can't see if it will open properly.
CDI has been suggested by a guy my brother knows who works on his own ATV, is that a possibility? I'm gonna try to get a ride to town to get a volt meter so what all can I check with that?
This is getting really frustrating and my landlord is starting to get pissed. Says I need to get it fixed soon or get rid of it. I live out in the country and the only people that see it are us, landlord and their other tenants in the next trailer.
If someone can explain how to post a video, I'll use my camera to grab a short video of her trying to start, maybe that will help diagnose the problem.

no idea, how do I check he compression on this scoot? That's something my mechanic brother took care of for me at his job when I could still afford to own a car. So I have no idea what I'm looking for by putting my thumb over the spark plug hole.

Ok, I've got fuel going into my filter now but she still doesn't start. It's doing the same thing it was before. So what else can I try looking at to fix this? Spark plug is new btw, old plug was carbon fouled. At least plugs look the same and work the same going from 4 wheels to 2.
As for the other 50cc Roketa, I haven't decided yet if I want to fix it or keep for parts, I may save it for a winter project.

finally sunny again so back to work on the scoot. replaced all fuel & vav lines with new, one at a time so I didn't mix them up. still does same thing, cranks but doesn't quite catch, no fuel going into filter. all I can see left as possible reasons is petcock is bad or tank is clogged going into petcock. does that sound about right? starting to get really frustrated

Ok, that hose with the capped off tube goes to a black canister mounted almost right under the gas tank.
Also, got the carb cleaned, replaced my fuel line, new filter & new NGK spark plug and it still wont start. Can't see any fuel going down into the new filter either. Tank has something looking like a huge nut attached to the bottom, looks like a vacuum operated petcock based on a pix on scrappydog scooters. Wondering if that might have gone bad. She never ran out of gas, needle was showing 1'4 tank when I filled her back up, she ran fine rest of the way home that day but next day wouldn't start.

Will get out and check as soon as it quits raining. Started early yesterday, just as I got back with new hoses. Makes me wish I had a garage or shed to work on her in. And both my fuel & vac lines are 3/16". Have to rig an adapter out of brass plumbing parts to use with the fuel filter.
Side question - took speedo cable off & measured, 39" from one end to other but it was looped a little. Is that the right length for my scoot?
