so I sprayed the carb out and ran a fine wire all the way through every tube & opening. Couldn't take it off the scoot completely because the screws for the enricher are stuck & almost stripped so I couldn't take it off. Most the fuel lines are soft but the idiot store gave my son the wrong size line, even when he went in with an exact list that included part #s. They gave him 1/4" inside diameter fuel line, not 1/4" fuel line. Mine also has the 2 vacuum port intake manifold, don't know if that makes a difference. All my fuel lines & vacuum lines seem to be the same size. The numbers on the carb are YCB-P001-22. Don't know if that gives any info, like specs. Also, on the side, clipped to the frame was a canister with a capped off hose at the end. There was fluid inside the hose and when I took it off, it smelled kinda like gas but looked like motor oil when a car has blown a head gasket, you know, white & watery, almost like a greasy milk consistency.
am I better off to rebuild my carb or just get a replacement, except for gaskets and screws, everything looks in good shape, even the plastic float

I'm new to scoots but I've been working on my own cars for almost 30yrs. Started with tuneups as a teenage at my dad's insistence but I've rebuilt carbs, done clutch work, top end on car engines, even rebuilt an old ford 3 spd auto, rotors, ball joints & tie rods on an old Ford truck...
so yeah, I'm handy with a wrench
what I really need is to get more power outta my scoot when climbing a hill. I'm about 160lbs myself and I figure between the rear rack, under seat & a backpack strapped behind me - another 30 lbs or so. Most the hills here really aren't that steep either, less than 10 degrees where I ride. With cars, you usually increase engine power to get more pulling power.
So what do I need to do to get more pull on hills with a scoot?

side question, how do I know the length of my speedo cable? looking up the 139QMB engine it shows several different lengths ranging from 32" to 39". I'm not worried about a couple inches too much but I sure don't want one that's too short. So any way to find out other than taking mine off & measuring? It doesn't work anyways so no big deal to remove it. And will I need to replace the puck on the wheel as well?

kids were grown when we divorced. don't get me wrong, he was a wonderful husband for the first 10-12 yrs. but after my parents died, he became controlling and possessive. I took him to the bank because when we had our first kid we both wanted me to stay home with the kids, so I seldom worked. I got half his retirement because of that. He did remarry, just a few months after our divorce was final. But then he became the one being ordered around, karma is a real bitch. She made more money, had a career & not just a job like him. She controlled the money too, even his paycheck.
He tries to chat with our boys on FB but neither one really wants anything to do with him. The few times they have talked to him, all he ever wanted to do was whine about his problems. Didn't care if they went to college or nothing. Oldest boy asked him for advice on a car, he wanted to complain about having to drive a clunker.
I really don't know what happened to him. He went from a wonderful husband & father to a real self-centered prick. I have him blocked on FB and although he has tried to call me, I blocked him & his family, except for one brother who agrees me with & moved to a different state to get away from his family.

OMG!!! the guy whom you swapped your pick up with is just so damn lucky!!!! no offense meant but those scooters are so heavily mutilated. dunno what happened to them. But it's done, nothing you can do bout it... prolly what you can do is to take parts from each scooter to come up with one running scooter. We have 2 running scooters. I did get $500 cash to boot. So a running 2006 Tank250, running 2010 Jonway 50, parts Roketa 50, $500 cash. Since high book value on my truck was only $1400, I'd say I got a good deal. No place around here you can buy a used 250cc scooter for under a grand. The guy just happened to be Ford Ranger/Mazda B2500 truck crazy, he has like his own little fleet of them. My brother said he has like 30 of them now. And I did have someone with knowledge of motorcycles check both the 50 & 250 out before I agreed to the trade. My brother is the one mechanic I trust not to screw me over.

When I use a cross reference site, I end up with the same autolite part to replace both the ngk c7hsa (my scoot) & ngk cr8hsa (son's scoot). The ngk plugs are same price as autolite here @ local parts store so I'm thinking go with the ngk. My BiL has had Jap bikes for years & I know he only runs the ngk.

Hey, I was serious. After what I suffered at the tongue of my now-ex husband (happily divorced since 2008), it'd be hard to find anyone who get really get me riled up. He was so cheap we only had 1 car and he controlled it. So I took the city buses to go shopping and all, he got off work early one day cause equipment broke down, came home and I was 10 min late from when the bus usually got to our stop. He saw the bus when it came & he still accused me of screwing the driver, just cause I told him "bye". Day I got the courage to tell him "piss off & go to HELL" changed my life, just wish it had happened sooner, but that's life. But yeah, I'm easygoing, laid back old country girl, but according to both of my son's friends, I'm a cool mom. It's nice when the barely legal to drink crowd (half my age, lol) don't mind me & even invite me to go out with them. Last group event was to take over our local small town movie theater for the premiere of Captain America : Winter Soldier. We're planning another takeover for Godzilla, Transformers, & Guardians of the Galaxy. This is the stuff I grew up on, brought to big screen.

no papers needed for 50cc here, not looking to sell it, more that my other son thinks it might be fun to have. Frame isn't wrecked and I can handle fiberglass decently but my brother has worked for over 15 yrs as mechanic & autobody so that is no trouble either. He won't charge me over the cost of supplies, cause we get along real well; I help him with stuff & he helps me with stuff, as long as I'm willing to wait a couple weeks since he does it in spare time. I've worked on cars/trucks so doing the electrical/engine/CVT work won't cost me either.
I figure if I can rebuild a Holley and it run right, then a scoot carb should be easy. I even rebuilt a little Ford 2300 with my brother just supervising and double checking for me and I used to handle all the tranny service on my pickups.
So guess I need to see what kind of shape the engine is in first since that will likely be the most costly. It'll have to wait until I can clear a space in my living room to put a table up to set it on. Can't ya tell I'm a country girl? An engine being rebuilt in the living room is normal for me, lol

Don't worry about Luke, I doubt he could ever say anything that would really tick me off. The things that push my buttons are well-kept secrets and only my best friend knows what they are, not even my family knows, lol. And if my opinionated family can't get ya riled up, then nobody can.

I'll give cleaning the carb a go tomorrow then, need to read up on these and how to adjust the valves. Hope it doesn't rain, was woke up around 3 am by cat having kittens so when I finally went back to bed, I slept until 2 pm.
Would Advance carry a filter to fit these?

Last year I rescued a kitten, turned out to be a girl. They never offered the spay clinic in the fall & she was way too young when they did the spring clinic, have to be 4 months old here. Last night she had kittens, in a box of my Dragonlance books. 1 solid black, 1 calico & 3 that look to be grey & white.

Took my little GY6 for a long ride (for her) about 16 miles, let her sit a couple hrs while I worked on son's car, then another 16 miles back home. She started to run low on gas so filled her back up. Other than going really slow uphill, no problems. That was Tuesday.
Wed morning I pulled the body panels loose on the front end to see if my speedometer was attached properly because it don't work. It is attached both to instrument cluster and wheel so guess I need a new one, probably order new cluster too cause mine is cracked. Disconnected the lights so I could see what kind of bulbs it uses because I'd like to upgrade to LED. Got all my wires plugged back in, went to start her & no go.
She turns over but doesn't quite catch. She almost caught once but not quite. When I twist the throttle it acts like it is doing nothing, like no extra gas to her. I know she needs some work & I usually have to twist the throttle a bit to get her to actually catch & start when she has sat more than a few hours. Is it possible I got a loose wire or something? I took the covers back off at the handlebars and checked every wire & connection I saw but none looked loose. She ran the battery down trying to start so I charged it & tried again, still no go. She got real low on fuel last night when we reached an open station but she cranked right up and no trouble getting home from there, that's about 3-4 miles from my home.
