Rode home in a tropical thunderstorm and downpour yesterday, I can confirm scoots are fine in the wet as long as you have a change of underwear for after breaking from 60 for a left hand turn lol Weather is fine Those lightening strike got interesting though, not sure how well I would do with those without a car around me! Congrats on the scoot, I'm sure you will love it! Did you settle on Fred as the name? You may need some snow chains but its all good fun

nooooo they should have fun in CA, thats where the auto makers do the air tests to prove the air is cleaner coming out of the exhaust than when it went in the air filter. Must admit I was shocked the first time I went there and visibility was about 100 yards in the day purely due to smog.

I ordered a few bulbs from this site (not a scoot but they do sell them). They are based in Vietnam although they do have some stock in Europe. I aced my order and paid including for express shipping via courier (in this case the useless chumps at fedex). I then got an email informing me there may / will be a delay in shipping due to them just finishing a 10 day celebration for new years (I guess they have a better union than I do!). I responded suggesting they place a note of this on their site to warn customers prior to ordering and give a better customer experience and asking if customers who paid for expedited shipping would get expedited packing. I got a rather curt reply back (which I put down to the language barrier) telling me they had a warning on their site whilst they were partying but took it down when they restarted. The goods eventually arrived after fedex did their usual tricks (apparently they managed to attempt to deliver it whilst I was out, I was sat on the deck at the time so the elven invisibility cloak they give the drivers really works), 5 days was pretty good for vietnam - china - alaska - CA - HI, would have been 4 without the lazy driver. Goods were very well packed and as advertised. No invoice. Haven't had chance to test them yet. All in a 4/5, a mark off for using fedex and being gits on email, but the replies were prompt. If I needed more bulbs and couldn't find them on fleabay I would order again, maybe even some parts but I don't think I would order a scoot from them.

everyone's worthy (apart from investment bankers, and some politicians lol) we all just have different reasons, I feel the same about electricians lol. Wolfcreeks were mesmerising though. They were an octagon shaped cabinet with tapes on the walls and robotic arms read barcodes on the tapes and moved the right tapes to tape drives. At full whack with a full set of drives they were amazing to watch (at least in the mid 90's, before we all got blasé about our cars talking back to us Knightrider style.

haha bad flashbacks to having to edit the autoexec.bat and config.sys to get a cd rom to work, or having multiple autoexecs with different memory configurations to get different games to work with enough sub 640k memory. We are spoiled these days, no mfm drives, no configuring loads of dip switches or dealing with token ring networks lol. They still havent made anything as cool as a wolfcreek though Chinese scooters are so much simpler than 1980's pc's. Sorry but I don't have enough spares to put together a whole system after moving continents but ebay / craigslist can usually bring up some. If you go on ebay and search by zip you can probably find something pretty cheap locally and cut out the postage cost. Theres loads of ex business machines out there for cheap.

Many euros are very lucky, they escape most of mother natures fury. Very few (and small) quakes, no regular 20-30ft 'swells', no tsunamis or active volcanoes. I know moving into the ring opened my eyes. You are right about the media, another reason why your story and your pictures can tell a tale no newscast can. Mahalo for sharing and helping the world understand.
It's also worth considering the efforts of small, rarely thanked folks like NOAA who do their best to keep people informed and warned of impending natural disasters. More funding for research into predicting quakes and warning people like we have for tsunamis could save a lot of lives. Your highlighting of the human side helps prompt that research.
The best of luck to you all and I hope the world responds to help.

Being surrounded by quakes (monthly) and tsunamis (yearly) I tend to get a little complacent, they happen and we all get a day watching bad TV clutching bottled water. I could not imagine how terrible it must be to see this hit and cause so much devastation. I remember feeling very mixed reactions to last years tsunami in the islands, the odd feeling of knowing pretty much for sure our house would be destroyed, but the blessing of knowing that my family was safe. Luckily it came as surges not a huge wave and everyones property was safe as well as themselves. Mother nature is immensely powerful, its so sad to see such a tragedy NZ has not been having a good time recently. Re documenting and taking pictures, I totally understand how you feel, but it is important to do it if you can and do not put yourself in danger. Those pictures help people understand the gravity of the situation, they have a special impact words cannot when it comes to relief funds and passing laws on construction regulations in the future. Documenting events like this, odd as it sounds, is a positive thing. As a fellow ring of fire dweller, I am very glad you and yours are safe.

Just look for a pair of sneakers over the telephone wires, usually a good indicator the expo must have loads of them outside.

Congrats on the first ride! I did find that when I inflated the tyres to the recommended pressure they became squirrely (as opposed to oppossumy) but I got used to it and managed to scrape the pegs last night. The tyres are probably cheap junk on most sino scoots , what size is written on the side?

Got chance to properly compare the bulbs, the led's are brighter, not by a HUGE amount, but noticeable. I just ordered some osram 35/35 ba20d's that Earthman suggested from scootrs. Will let you know how those go when/if they arrive from the land of Oz. Will also let you know if I get the LED's to fit in the smaller front housings. Right socket but the bulb appears to be too long, nothing that cannot be fixed with a hammer and some choice words.

SPS has the 250 54b for under 1700 shipped and I think they have a smaller wheeled 250 even cheaper. As for used, craigslist and caveat emptor
