I worked in Harrisburg until I retired in January 09. I used to see a kid on a crotch rocket weaving through traffic on I-81 at speeds that had to have been at over 85 mph. I saw this today. I wonder if it's the same kid and if it is, why he's still alive. www.wgal.com/news/25334194/detail.html

Lol, 147? Try 175 with more on tap!
I used to ride like that back when I was stationed in San Diego. I was also younger and dummer! My Znen is a form of self restraint! ;D

Scooterran - No, I teach at the community college back here. When I worked in H-burg, I was a program exec with PA DPW. Here's the latest fatal from down there www.wgal.com/news/25352413/detail.html

The crotch rocket boys smear up the express ways in Atlanta weekly darting in and out of the rush hour traffic. On our Tail of the Dragon ride they were doing knee slides on the extreme curves. During the summer months the Tn. Hwy Patrol quits covering the road at 7:00 in the evening and the death toll rises because that is when the crotch rocket boys try to set speed records. Stupid is as stupid does!!

They're working on taking themselves out of the gene pool. Dannicus - were you Navy or Marines? I saw that they now require a special safety school if you're going to ride a crotch rocket even off base - too many accidents.

Now why would they arrest him for reckless driving for a mere 205 mph? What cracks me up is the part about slowing down to 100 to let his buddy catch up. How fast do you figure his pal was going to close up the ground between them? A trifling 140?

All branches are requiring members to take a safety course to get stickers. I sort of doubt it helps save lives, tho. U can't fix stupid.

Sounds kind of like all the safe riding stuff they taught us in the MSF course. Most folks around here seem to ignore it. At least most of the rocket riders around here at least wear helmets. The hog riders - no way.
Dannicus - from an OLD vet - thanks for serving!

Maybe I'm getting old(28 and holding) but this is NOT exactly what I would want my son to worry about learning for his MC test.

Good point there MC. One of the instructors in my MSF class just had to do a couple front wheelies on his rocket to impress people.

I think all the instructors at my MSF were off duty police officers. I can't picture any of them demonstrating that. ;D Not to mention, we were required to ride their bikes and I don't think any of the bikes at the MSF facilty were capable of stunting.
