As I had to go to town just after dark, I thought I would ride the scoot and charge the battery up a little. I was about a mile from home, a deer ran out in front me from a yard. Crap that was close, I mean close to the front wheel !!!! I could count the hair on the eyelashes. I actually locked up the breaks and heard them squeal. Everything is OK!

good that nothing horrible happened to you doc.... stay safe out there. but but! if you didn't hit the breaks you could've killed the deer and that means you'll have a month supply of deer meat for BBQ. ....now you need to order more sauce!!lol
ride safe bro!!

Not worth the price of the scoot and the pain I would go through.

OK, first Luke, it's bow season not scooter season. Second, it's a 50/50 crap shoot on who ends up on who's plate when it comes to deer vs bike. and third, I ALREADY TOLD YOU ABOUT TRYING TO GET MORE, DARN IT!!! Scooterran, Thank the scooter gods it was not worst! M/C

It's that time of the year with mating and hunting season going on.
M/C - the odds are in the deer's favor now - more damage to the rider than the deer.
Ride safely and watch out for game guys!

Guy here at work is still healing up from getting a lap dance doing 65mph on his crotch rocket last year (Sept 2009).

I had a very close encounter with Bambi one morning on the bike. I was so busy looking down at the speedo and tach I wasn't paying attention to the road. Suddenly I caught this brown filling up the top of my peripheral vision and a back hoof to my left as I went by. I must have missed center punching the thing by inches but was too occupied to see it. I got complacent because it was a place you don't normally see deer. I watch all the time now.
I even came across one this past summer standing in the middle of the road when I was on the scooter. I stopped and stared at it and it did the same to me until it finally moved on. I guess it was trying to figure out what I was riding.

About 25 years ago on a new gold wing I was coming home with girl friend from the stock car races about midnight. was on a flat county road that you could see for miles with moon lite. there was a herd of deer in the middle of the road that would not move till I was maybe 50 ft from them. when I got by them a couple were still on the road. It was in middle of summer and no idea what the deal was, still ain't figured it out. Knocking on wood I have not hit a deer YET. john

Deer vrs Motorcycle the odds are in favor of the deer. I have had many close encounters of the deer kind that I have lost count. It is one thing that scares the crap out of me. Good thing my Harley has a brown seat!
I lost a very close freind years ago to a deer. He was traveling way to fast (don't we all at times) and a deer ran across the road and he and his bike cut the deer in half, sad to say he didn't make it.
Always keep your eyes out for these critters, esp at dusk and dawn. Don't want to read about anyone else getting hurt or worse.
