Ran out for some bread and hot dog buns. First store had bread, but no buns. This was a great excuse to ride over to the next town for buns. ;D A beautiful morning to ride, if a tad windy. Went to put the buns in my trunk, and ripped off the keyhole cover slider. Gee Rocky, guess I don't know my own strength...#@*{^ POS trunk!

OK some good news and some bad. I've been holed up all weekend working on school work. Of course it's raining so I can't ride anyhow. Rode to class twice yesterday. 2 weeks to go and then I can get serious about the scoot.
Luke - you need that blessing!

Well I saw the most scary part of a Chinese scoot today...the rear brake. I was unhappy with the way the back brakes held in comparison to the front so with rainy weather today, I decided to pull the wheel and take a look see. Not real thrilled with the design. The pads looked glazed so I took some 120 grit and sanded the up. I also sanded the inside of the rim. While I had it off, I painted the exhaust pipe and fender bracket. I also wire brushed and cleaned up the rusty bolts. Put it all back together and looked like a million. Oh and I also put on the trunk. I think it took me longer to figure that thing out than to take off the wheel. Well, I'm curious, did roughing up the pads help the function any? If so, I need to post that in tech somewhere. The wife and I rode 30 miles through the country roads around Chelsea Alabama (beautiful) and ate at McDonald's. I bled my front brake on the Amore and changed the fluids on my wife's Bashan before we left. The Amore does not use gas I'm beginning to believe, almost a 100 on the odometer and it's still almost on full. Rich

How about rescued it from drowning? Boy did we get hit with a storm about 1/2 hour ago. Dime size hail, heavy rains, flash floods. I checked & Exie's garage had some water coming in but I got the drains open. No real damage. Our little stream flooded the playground and ball field at the bottom of the street.

Well took mom's Xingyue XY150T for a 170km/100mile highway tune-up last Friday. Seemed to get rid of the cobwebs as it starts up first thing and doesn't want to die at the first few stops on the way to work this morning. Nothing like a good old blast to clean the cobwebs from the scoot and the rider!! ;D ;D

Rich Sanding the glazed brakepad trick has been around for quite a while and can bring life back into pads/shoes that still have plenty of pad left on them. As far as sanding the drum it would be ok on these scoots since theres plenty of cheap parts available for them, but if it was and old bike thats being restored its not a good idea. You dont want to reduce the life of hard to find parts -Zug

Sanding the brakepads helped substantially. There was plenty of brakepad left and as far as the rim, there was oxidation from sitting for over a year which is most likely what clogged and glazed the pads. A quick scuff with some 120 grit did not hurt nor remove any of the metal. Before, I could not stop the scoot in a normal distance with just the rear brake but it can now. A little WD-40 on the pivot freed things up and made it smoother.

Sold the 50cc Marshin this morning. This evening I took off all the body panels on the Diamo 150 and freshened things up a bit....also ordered a new drive belt and headlight bulbs.

I rode. Did have a wild turkey fly across the road in front of me..scared the bejesus out of me. When we rode to Oak mountain there was a wild Turkey standing by the road right after we left. I was so so astounded I realized I was weaving into the opposite lane to look at it. Luckily, no one was coming but I felt stupid for a rookie mistake. If there is a negative to the Amore it's the small wheels, it does weave easier at slow speeds. Anyway, the turkey was almost motionless, I thought it was one of those things people stick in their lawns but it moved a little. It really was beautiful, I know a lot of you guys are probably hunters and I respect that, but I just don't see how you could kill something that majestic. Did you know Ben Franklin (I think) pushed to have it be our national bird? Rich
