gas prices

I paid $4.09 for gas for the car yesterday. I'm going over the bike and scooter to prep them for the upcoming season. I'm going to let the car sit a lot more and reap the benefits of good mileage. I save about $6.00 every time I use two wheels instead of four to go to work. I would be excited to see $4.09. We are up to 4.50 now for the regular stuff. However, much it is across the country, it sure is nice to have a scooter to save money...and of course, they are a blast.

Be nice to know where the $4.50 prices are. If you update your profile it will show on every post. I got in at the wrong pump last night and got full service for $3.80. But with out a town a gas price don't mean much. john

Regular gas has finally gone over $4.00 everywhere. All I read around the web is about electric bikes, scooters and bicycles. I'm betting that you'll see "Sold Out" on many scooter dealers websites this coming summer. I'm glad I'm up to my hips in vehicles with two wheels. One of the stations I pass regularly is at $4.179. It's 35 degrees outside right now but I'm riding. It saves me $6.00 a day over the car.

Gas in Jersey is a little cheaper - I can still get regular for $3.69 if I pay cash. I just did a little back-of-the-envelope calculation, and at this price I pay about $25.25 in gas per month just to commute on the scooter vs. $74.00 per month on my car. Since I ride every day, that's $600/yr savings just for the commute!! Not to mention the fun and incidental errands and trips. This is the best hobby I ever took up, hands down.

Gas here had dropped to $3.55 a gallon for regular when suddenly it rocketed up $0.40 in the last three weeks. I wave at the gas stations on my way to work when I'm on the scooter or a bike. If this doesn't convert people to two wheels I don't know what will.

With all the Arabs mad at the United States, well I would not be surprised if gas shot up to $10 per gallon. $3.75 here in Belle.

This prolonged spike in gas stations has had one side effect. I'm seeing ads by scooter dealers with Chinese scooters all over Craigslist. Like 2008 they're popping up all over but aren't fading away. I'd like to think that this time they're here to stay. I feel speared every time I have to fill up the car. I wonder if people are thinking scooters every time they put in $100 in their tank?

Count yourselves lucky, I just did a few sums and a litre over in the uk is now about £1.40 which is equivalent to a US gallon being about $8.59. 60% of that price is tax taken by the government.

I remember in high school gas got down below a dollar. We were used to paying maybe $1.15 or so...it was 1986 so I don't remember. It was also my parents car so I didn't pay for gas much.

When I was a kid I saw gas war prices as low as .17 and 18.9 a gallon. When I got out of the navy in 63 I pulled a small house trailer from the east coast and when I parked it on the end of a trailer park right next to a little gas station I took a picture of it along with the gas price of 18.9 and a 70mph speed sign. Some where I still have the picture. 18ft highways with high curb shoulders were a lot of fun driving in iowa then. Ten years ago when I was last in iowa that trailer was still there but the gas station was gone.

Friday I filled up in mountain home ar for $1.39 9 , almost felt like I was ripping them off! Filled up in Blytheville ar yesterday for $1.59 although I could have got it down the street for 2 cents less but was easier to get in and out of. Cost me all of .16 to get the more expensive juice! This can't last at prices from 20 years ago!
