My roketa 54B 250 cc has about 750 miles on him now. So I think Fred is past the break in point. Someone on this forum once said gas milage would be better after the break-in. On 2.5 gal of gas I am only getting about 80 miles. (80 miles per tank). I was expecting better mileage than that. Is this average? Or should I be getting more?

Hi, I have a Roketa 150 and am somewhat dissapointed in the mileage so far. I have less mileage on mine(300km)and am getting about 47mpg on the first two tankfuls. I will be interested to watch the replies. Good luck.

One day I pushed the Chinese 150 a little harder than usual and got 54 mpg. I went back to taking it easy and it gave me 42 miles on a half gallon. Usually I get about 70 mpg. The Big Ruckus goes about 65 mpg so I go about 130 miles on two gallons, far enough for the 3.2 gallon tank. But I keep the BR at 55 to 60 mph.

mcalli, I have the same scooter. 250-B 2008 Runs great at the preasent time since I just did a valve setting on it.. When I do a valve setting . I usually get around 67.4 mpg and I'm not a little guy, 250 +. I have a 3 1/2 gallon fuel tank that lasts me 3 days to work and back home . 60 mile round trip. When I get to 180 miles on the odometer , I pull in and filler up.

Mcalli, My jonway was in the dumper only getting about 40-45mpg sucked. I finally did a AF adjust it was almost 3 turns out I turned it in to about 2.5 brought me up to 58 ish a gallon. I think I am stil running rich as I can still smell raw gas when I pull up to a stop sign I think I could go in about a 1/4 turn yet. Just suck that the adjusting screw is on the bottom of my Jonway carb.

So what can I do to get better milage. Superior power sports advertises that it gets 80 miles to the gallon. I weigh 120 so my weight is not what is dragging it down. so according to damin69 I can adjust the af to get better mileage. What else can I do?

I ride in a mix of surface streets and freeway in my 33 mile round trip commute and I get a consistent 65mpg. If I take a long mostly highway trip where I use a whole tank (about 200+ miles) I get 70mpg.
I have 5000 miles on it now just recently adjusted the valves for the first time. The intake was perfect and the exhaust was just a bit tight. It does start just a bit easier after that adjustment. The only thing I did with the air/fuel screw was to check where it was set at, which was about 2-1/4 turns out, and I left it there.
BTW, don't go by your odometer unless you know for certain that it is correct. Both my speedo and the odometer are optimistic by 9.2% so I have a spreadsheet that takes this into account when I plug my numbers in at each fillup. Going by the odometer I'm showing I get 70+mpg but my real mileage based on actual miles driven is 65mpg.
I do use the odometer though for keeping track of how much fuel is in the 3.4 gal tank, since my gas gauge isn't even close to accurate and in fact recently stopped working altogether. I've run mine down to just fumes a couple of times to see how many miles I can go on a tank. The most I've gone is 220 *indicated* miles, so when I fill up I write the current odometer reading down and add 200 to it and keep that number in the glove box.
I just put new tires on it front and rear so will be interesting to see if they affect the mileage. Oh, one other thing, lower grade fuel will give you better mpg. I used to burn 91 grade, then went to 89 and saw my mileage jump quite a bit, and finally I went to 87 and the mileage went up a bit more. The scoot doesn't ping, in fact I think it prefers 87, it runs great.

My kids 50cc Cub clones are like the mileage champions of all time. I checked the mileage on the one a couple of times and it was getting 132 mpg. It makes a Prius look like a gas guzzler.

So again, is there anything else I can do to increase gas mileage? (besides adjusting the air flow and also- how do I do that? 2 questions here. Both unknown to me.

You could try increasing your tire pressure. A stiffer tire will decrease rolling resistance. That should translate into a little increase in MPG. Too much air pressure will make the bumps harder though.

So again, is there anything else I can do to increase gas mileage? (besides adjusting the air flow and also- how do I do that? 2 questions here. Both unknown to me. Air/fuel mixture is controlled by a single screw on the carburetor, where that screw is located depends on your engine and carburetor. If you have the Linhai that screw is on the left side of the carb, gently turn it all the way in until it *just* bottoms out, and count the turns. It's usually about 2-1/4 to 2-1/2 turns. So then you back it out to 2-1/4 turns and after the engine has warmed up, you adjust it in or out until you reach the highest RPMs on your tach. Ideally this is done with an exhaust gas analyzer but you can get it pretty close using the tachometer, or even your ear. Turn it 1/4 turn at a time and wait 10 seconds or so for the engine to respond to the adjustment. At 750 miles the scoot is just getting broken in, it's at the point where mileage will start to improve but it may continue to improve until you get to 1000 or 1500. Keep the tires at the right inflation, or bump it up a bit. I ran mine at 31lbs front and rear. Use 87 or 89 grade fuel. it's a bit early to adjust the valves, you may not need that just yet but if they're out of adjustment that could affect mileage. Stop trying to do burnouts and wheelies, those will hurt the mileage too.

MC: Air pressure in tires. speedometer reading: Odometer reading, fuel octane rating: Verify all are correct. and reading our language not chinameter. I went 2 sellers specs to find your compression ratio but no luck. Suggestion: map out a trip, can be short by mapquest and follow the directions exactly that will give you an exact mileage reading. Drive the route and check odometer reading to assure speedo is correct. You now have a baseline to assure mileage is correct or off and you can adjust MPG calculations accordingly. If Fred runs well do not touch fuel air mixture until you are assured mileage is correct.
