I think he was referring to using the old petcock as a fuel nipple when installing an inline shut off valve. By removing or destroying the diaphragm in the petcock, fuel would flow from both nipples. You would just want to use the one nipple so you would plug the vacuum nipple as it would no longer be needed for operation. If this was done you would also want to plug the vacuum line so you wouldn't have any vacuum leaks in the system.

LoL. I just make vids when I have a question. The Ebay seller said that the filter on the petcock will fight in tight once the rubber washer on and is screwed up in there. It looks like the hurricane is going to pass us, however i MAY be able to see the waves going nuts so if its not raining I'm going to film it at the ocean in the morning. I always cover the scoot up good The gas tank is down to about 1/3 full, so almost empty and I'l take it out to fix it. It hasn't given me any crap as far as dieing in 2 days, the fuel guage is working normally now too. Its starts a TINY bit less easy, maybe its just not that brand new spark feel anymore and when I accelerate from a stop it hesitates a little bit. Maybe its just the 5 lbs I gained last month. With that being said... off to the gym!

Could be running a little rich since the last time we were playing around with the fuel ratio screw trying to compesate for the bad Petcock. Try 1/4 turn Clockwise on the Fuel Ratio screw and see if that helps. Don't know where it is set now but it sounds Rich and not lean. BUt if it is worse 1/4 Clockwise(LEAN), then turn it back out Counter Clockwise 1/2 turn 1/4 to make up for the 1/4 Lean TRY and 1/4 more rich. Alleyoop P.S, no it is not hesitating due to the 5lbs more, but if it is lay off the midnight snacks

Welcome Sean, Sorry to say but their are no websites on how to maintain and care for a scooter. There are only forums like this one to help the people with their scoots when something goes wrong or just answer questions someone may have.
First, did you order it online or buy it from a Dealer near you? If you bought it from a dealer near you they should have prep it for you and should be running pretty good. They should have changed the oils and adjusted the carb to run good. Also it should have some kind of warranty on it as well so if something goes wrong in a short period of time they should fix it for you. The only thing is they may charge for labor but not parts.
But if you bought it online then you will have to go over the scoot yourself and make sure everything is nice and tight. You will need a Socket set METRIC and screwdrivers etc.. you can pick up a nice set of sockets that have both standard and metric.
Also always check your oil level before riding make sure it is not low on oil, that and air as your riding is the only thing that cools the engine. If bought off an internet dealer change the Oil right away the oils they come with is garbage, get some good 10Wx40 oil, Castrol Gtx, Valvoline etc.. No, no name brand stuff to try and save a dollar or two. The Tranny Oil takes 75Wx90 again descent brand.
Also do not wash it using a hose, just do a hand wash, you do not want water to get on the electricals. Just some pointers to get you going. And if you have any questions just open a thread with your problem and or questions, and remember no question is a STUPID question. Again Glad to have you on the forum Alleyoop

Thanks. It was running 100% perfect yesterday and today it shut off on me. Added some gas and got home okay. My gas is almost empty and waiting for this storm to pass then I'll work on that petcock Heh perfect for me. There are no car washes on South Beach and I don't have an outdoor faucet or hose I like to use Chlorox wipes all over my scooter and windex on the mirrors/lights. Welcome Sean, change that oil often! That is one thing I learned early on Also if you can slow down long before the red light ( nobody behind you ) and then just put ur feet down to stop it will save you on brakes

Sean, Listen to this woman she did not know nothing about scoots just how to start them and ride them. I mean she was calling parts on the scoot as THINGYS:). But now she can Adjust valves, Change Spark Plugs, Change Oils, Adjust carbs, Check for fuel Delivery problems, Check for Spark, Clean Carbs, Put in a New Petcock change hoses, Knows what are the vacumm lines and what they do, take panels off to get to items, She is taking out the Gas tank to put on a new Petcock. I know I have forgotten other tasks Straightbangin has done but those are Just a few things she has learned to do. She has saved a ton of money not taking it to mechanics which will charge anywhere of $50 and up per hour just for labor. So heed her warnings and advice as well as ours of course ;D . Alleyoop

Yup.. she is a scooter 'poster person' in my books... willing ask questions and LEARN...
One highlight for me was pulling the cover off the air/fuel mixture screw... just a piece of magic!!!!!
So as an old fart I know....straightbangin is the next generation scooter expert... wish there were more like her...
Well done straightbangin.. you rock!

Yeah, babystraights, you are all right.
It's kinda hard to convey to you what we're thinking in diagnostics, but as you built your repertoire you began to develop your own skill and make relevant observations.
We're still not out of the woods yet, and we are depending on your sole expertise to complete the repair. In this, we have every confidence.
As far as we know, you are the only qualified scooter mechanic on South Beach, so let's get your motor running, and head out on the highway, looking for adventure, and whatever comes your way.

Eivad11, That has already been tried, We have gone through all the diagnostics and we have finally found the problem it is a Bad Petcock. Sometimes it opens and sometimes it won't and sometimes it stays open. Alleyoop
