iv got to git this thing to start before i can do the fine tune were can i buy a manual choke at or do i have to make one bo

Bo, Please listen, turn the damn IDLE SPEED SCREW 1/8 clockwise BEFORE you even start it. After it starts it might idle really high with the 1/8 turn then as it is idleing high get your screw driver and turn it COUNTER CLOCKWISE so it it idleing high around 2500 rpms and wait and see if it drops after 4-5 minutes to around 1800-2000 rpms that is all you have to do. If you want to put a Manual CHoke I can give you TWO choices I put a manual choke on my Trike. You can see it here and the controler by my left handgrip. Alleyoop

Bo, listen to Alleyoop about turning 1/8 turn before starting scoot, I believe it be an easy fix without going through the trouble installing a manual choke.

well alley/richard i turn it 1/8 turn didnt help then i turn it 1/2 turn still didnt help.isat down and had a talk with myself old man i said you ant no fool you know gas has got to come up through that chock hole why ant it so i took the carb off.isqurted brake cleaner down throught to see where it get it gas at .its got a jet beside the main jet.just befor it git to the top or base of the carb there a hole drill there ant no way it can suck gas with a hole.it will suck air and it cant push gas up it will run out the hole so i quit ill ride it like it is.tard of messing with it.value stem came in today ill put them in and ride thanks to everone bo

Bo, Turning the IDLE SPEED screw should have raised your IDLE, Because that is the same thing as if you twist the throttle it does the same thing. Are you sure you where turning the RIGHT SCREW? Here is a picture of what your carb probably looks like and you can see the IDLE SPEED SCREW. Alleyoop RIGHT SIDE OF CARB: LEFT SIDE OF CARB:

alley iv rode- work on, flat track,motocross,on motocycle all my life i know what the idle screw and air mix screw is .i thought i could fix about anything .i bought a 200 dollars roteka 250 junk a mo. ago iv went through it now it run and sound like a new one.but i cant figure this one out to save me that the reason i got on here and ask for help thuoght you or someone had-had this problem before.im 70 yrs. old and i ant going to ride undet 45 deg. nohow i would like to fix it for the purpose of its suspose to work and i would lik to fix it.ill tinker with later im burned out on it for now it won i lost ha ha bo

Sorry. but since you said you have to hold the throttle so it IDLES at 3000 rpms WHEN IT IS COLD. Turning the IDLE SPEED SCREW will do the same exact thing same thing, that is why I question maybe the IDLE SPEED SCREW is NOT MAKING CONTACT with the THROTTLE CONTROL wheel TAB that pushs it down to open the butterfly. It may be all the way out and that is why it does nothing when you turned it 1/2 or whatever.
I have seen some people get brand new carbs and they never check the IDLE SPEED screw before they put them on and the SCREW is NOT TOUCHING the TAB ON THE CONTROL wheel to open the butterfly a little. When that happens they will not start or you need to twist and hold the throttle a little for them to start and run. And when they let go many just die because the butterfly closes compltelty. alley i read this scooter doc for 2 mo.before you told me how to post there no doubt in my mind that you know what you are talking about when it come to scooter.i used this site to fix the roteka.i know nothing about them my frist im learning i can do most anything to the old school bikes but these is a whole new world to me.i think that hole in that pick up tube when the inricher in choke stage(motor cold) it is sucking air insted of gas you have any idea why or what purpose its there its just above the gas line when the bowel is full it will suck air.air is lighter than gas bo

take enricher out of carb take bottom of carb off take float and needle out you got the main jet in the middle---the other jet on the right--on the left is where the inricher git it gas for cold start --i dont know what you call it passage way ,tube what every you can put air to it it come out were the enricher goes look just above the pick up jet on right side there a small hole drilled into the passage way above the gas level gas cant be sucked up to the enricher for sucking air it really hard for me to explane myself bo

Oh you are talking about the INSIDE the INRICHER and the Inricher fuel fed. Alleyoop Here is what is behind the ENRICHER HOLDER and the DIFFERENT INLETS GAS AND AIR(2) and GAS OUTLET(1). What The 3 OUTLETS you see with the CARB BOWL taken out is : 1. The MAIN JET the one that sticks out more. 2. The PILOT JET smaller 3. The OVERFLOW vent hole which on the outside of the carb you will see the CURVED HOSE about 2 inchs pointing down, IN the picture of the carb above that is #1. Here is the Bottom of the Carb I labled what each hole is:

my carb is like to one reply#36 except for the idle screw mine is vert. not horz.--the bottom pix of relpy#43 the jet and vent is like mine.flots are differance.my carb is nothing like #43.the hole im talking about is about 3/4 in up the vent tube above gas level when the bowel is full of gas. i took brake cleaner and squirted it throught from top were inricher goes it came out the vent tube and the hole,then i squirted it in vent tube it come out mostlel the hole vary little if any up to inricher. so i think the inricher is sucking air instead of gas. i dont know anyother way the inricher would git its gas. i dont know nothing about the carb i do know the inricher is not gittins gas. --yes richard i wish you did live closer i could sure use the help iv done lost it i set around fliping my lips with my finger.old woman giving me her nerves pill .this thing is killing me ###%%$$#@@&**bo
