Oh no he didn't!! I'd say the opinion is equally divided. I find nothing wrong with the fast hard break in, but I only have 6k on the bike. Still running well.. That's on a linhai 250 motor.

I dunno. I think back to an episode of Gas Monkey Garage where they used reg oil on a break in, and trashed the engine. And that was standing still, at idle - 2500RPMs. (I know we're not talking break in oil, but RPMs.)
I broke mine in easy, and it runs just fine now. I would have hated to break it in HARD, and having broken something.
Kinda like on your wedding night with your new virgin wife. Did ya slam it to her, or take it easy? And what was the result? (that was rhetorical)

The fellow who bored my majesty said what he would do on breakin for it was to accelerate as hard as possible with as much loading as you can up to 4-4,500 rpm, let off and coast it back down to where the clutch lets loose and do it again and again......so I did for most of a hundred miles then a little higher rpms. Oh and just short runs and let it cool down completely, 5 10 min max. He said the complete cool down is very important. He does a lot of bigger bikes and can not do smaller ones due to his machine. And does not do kaw/suz as they have chome bores.

I broke my 50cc Rocket the same way I break in everything. Easy does it. Low RPMs for the first 1,000 miles and then small increases over the next 1,000. It does 55 mph on the flat and gets 135 mpg. No oil burning either. Motoman is a very young child and will learn the proper way in time.

It probably doesnt matter. They run them at the factory anyway so its a moot point. Its the first 20 minutes that matter most.

if you are breaking in a chinese scooter you should ride 5-10mph for 3months, you dont want to go faster than that because pistons and piston blocks and pinions of a chinese scooters are so brittle you dont wanna seize the motor. even the warranty is questionable and doesnt really exist, after you bought it from the dealership you're pretty much on your own.

I think the initial start is the most important and like it was mentioned they do that at the factory. As to the other stuff i leave that to the people with more experience then me

The same for a Japanese or Italian scooter. After all, you paid a zillion dollars for that two year warranty and you wouldn't want to pay the fees it doesn't cover.

KZ's right!! I paid a zillion dollars for my Stella and got a two year warrany with roadside assistance and never got to use it.If I would have known that I could have bought a scooter had it for six troublefree years and it's worth more now than I paid for it I would have bought one off E~bay. Oh wait I did and now the importer is no longer selling scooters. They sell saunas.

I was wondering when you'd come out all a rage Randy. Look, and read. The same for a Japanese or Italian scooterDid I say India built scooters? No, I don't think so. Oh, and my GS Motorworks scooter Hmmmmmm. Let's see. www.GSmotorworks.comYup, still in business and still selling parts CF Moto Fashion? cfmoto-us.com/Yup, still in business and I can get parts everywhere for it. My Roketa MC 114 Cub clone. www.superiorpowersports.com/50cc_gas_scooter_p/rk50sc-114a.htmWhy yes. Plus my Bashan came with a parts warranty, GS Motorworks sent me parts when ever I needed them. I didn't need them for the Cub clone-still don't 4 years later-and the Fashion was used. Luke is out to bust our balls, I'm busting back. You're taking this way too personally.

As far as parts they don't wear out very fast on a trailer and if they do some one has a complete parts scooter since their dealers do not carry parts but they can be had for that certain jap scooter.....in about 8 days or so if the only warehouse in the usa happens to have them in stock.

JUST TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA ON HOW A TYPICAL CHINESE SCOOTER/TRIKE IS.

Bought my Viking Trike from him last July, and as is typical with Chinese scoots, there were a few issues. Jim got me the replacement parts needed at no charge, not even shipping. The float assembly went south recently (gas gauge stuck on full) so I emailed Jim about a week ago. He said he would contact Ice Bear regarding a replacement. Well, today the UPS driver shows up with a new float assembly! I've read many stories of dealers abandoning the customer after a sale, and thought it would be appropriate to acknowledge someone who doesn't do that. For anyone considering a product that Rapid Repair sells, here's my advice: Don't make your purchase based only on price or a fancy website because a dealer who is honest and will stand behind his product is invaluable.
