The most important advice I could give a new rider is to ride like you are invisible. In other words you watch your arse and assume that every one out there can not see you. You may be right in a situation but don't be dead right by standing your ground!
There is no contest between a 3000 lb car and a 300 lb bike, the car always wins.

You might take the rear wheel off and inspect the inside of the drum, and another thing it is possible that it has some foriegn sub on the inside. I would also check the wheel, scooter on the center stand by spinning it by hand watching different points for out of round and side wobble.

Then there is the "rare" 30 year old bike that only needs a few parts, hasn't been started in 15 years and other than that is in excellent shape at twice blue book! If it is rare I don't even want to see it at all and there are no parts availible. And those who think they can sell it with out a picture or a unintelligible dark blurry cell phone picture.
Either they are idiots or they think we are!

Seems most of the private owner listings in my area are way above what most buyers are willing to pay. There is a person who is advertising an 81 goldwing for $3000, probably 1/2 of what it sold for new 34 years ago and I think this will be the 3rd year he posts it never dropping the price a penny.
Most of the craigs list stuff by owners is well over the nada or bluebook by 1/3 and the rest is junk. Most of the dealers on CL won't even list a price so I choose not to look at dealer listings. I think this may be a local thing. I am a little reluctant to bid on an ebay listing especially if it is so far I could not drive over and look at it/

There we go, now there are numbers.
Build an engine with just the 4 valve head and is going to be the biggest single power mod you can do.
If you modded with big bore and stroke and got 200cc you still have the 125/150cc breathing on it.

They claim a car tire on a bike is as good on corners as a bike tire. I just happen to ready to try a car tire on my majesty. Probably later on this summer. Its called dark siding. If the side walls are at all flexible the tire on dmartin95's scooter will track decent too.
Have watched videos of rear tires in a lean where camera was placed under the bike and from what I have seen they track just as good as a round profile bike tire. (with at least as much rubber in contact with the road) And they last 4 times as long. I don't think I would be tempted to race one though.

I would go with a 4 valve on the gy6. I also believe one of the biggest boost is making that engine breath. The head, intake and output of it.
Most of the small jap engines today make more than one hp per cubic inch and the big difference is breathing.
A stock 150cc makes about 9hp, with the same compression a majesty makes 34 for a 400cc engine with 4 valves. 6 hp per 100cc on a gy6, and a majesty makes 8.5 per 100cc.

If that was 5000 miles closer I would be riding it right now instead of drooling.

If you do some reading and maybe a search you will find the subject of those carb screws has come up a half a zillion times along with instructions on replacing them with having to buy a new carb.

yup.......sounds like it may be running out of gas. A fuel pump also can cause this. Warms up, something expands, now there is a vacuum leak and no fuel thru pump or petcock.

Ok scooter folks..I got a tao tao lancer 150 that I just passed 1100 mi on..I broke it in easy fer the first 500..changed oil..n gave it a lil more the next 500..took it fer a 168 mi ride today( no faster than 50+) n now I got blue smoke coming out tailpipe..did I kill it? The smoke ain't constantly bellowing but at stop its pretty thick..any help would b greatly appreciated.. Gonna change oil tm..runnin castrol gtx 10-30..thanx in advance n keep the rubber down Sounds like you probably caused the problem your self........,...Where does it say you replaced the fish oil the scooter shipped with before starting it..... When you get a new scooter the first thing you need to do is drain out the shipping oil as part of a PDI and replace it with real oil. Piston and cyl are cheap, maybe $50 or so. Isn't the end of the world.
