I have used Seafoam since it was introduced to it in 1992. I was first introduced to it by a salesman when you could only buy it in parts stores, I used it on an 87 Chev that had issues with idling. I injected it directly into the fuel injection system and it took care of the issues. Ever since then I use it in everything I own (mixed into the gas) and also in every scooter or trike I sell. I highly recommend it as a preventive measure for carb issues. How often do you use it as a fuel additive? Quarterly, bi-yearly, every tank? And have you ever tried it the carburetor introduction method on a scooter? I was amazed by the video's results. If used often im wondering if could prevent a large carbon buildup from occurring on new egines.

I found this very interesting test of Seafoam on a small engine. I wouldn't go to the extreme of the last test demonstrated in the video, but the poster had some very intriguing results.
Has anyone tried Seafoam on a scooter?

I have the vacuum operated petcock and it operates fine. When I replaced the carb, I checked all the fuel and vacuum lines and replaced those that appeared old and failed my "blow through and suction" test. I guess I need to make some carb adjustments. dubyajayes Alleyoop has a very good walk through for adjusting the carburetor. Give it a try, it's composed in very easy to understand steps. www.itistheride.com/Help_carb_adj_4T.pdf

The Fill plug is GET THIS BEHIND the SPROCKET those chinese probably are still laughing.. you have to take the sprocket off to get at the fill hole. That is about the least functional thing I have heard of. LMFAO.

Do you use the vacuum operated petcock for the fuel pump. Or do you have a fuel like straight from your tank to the carburetor?

Brent from 49scooter that make the video in my initial post even states to not take his results as gospel, and certain factors could have influenced his results. Like his timing light was not functioning at 100%. But whatever the case is the knowledge here can be used as a starting point. But the scooter owner has to make their own decisions and mistakes.

I think he is referring to the movement of the stator as the mechanical fix. Anyone else have thoughts on this approach?
But overall, very interesting debate. What I am getting from the salty crew here is the CDIs with fixed advancement are pretty much junk. Which makes sense that a "one size fits all" approach is not possible. There a so many independent variables depending on brand and owner modifications.
But the benefit for the wires and coils are possible for a more efficient chamber detonation.

Thats about how mine looks, thanks.
No. From the picture you recently posted, your plug looks like it is running way to rich. The good example posted by rks was caramel colored. Yours was almost black.

@turbotyler. Thanks for the advice. My thoughts on the subject are the same as yours.
I have decided to try one of the advancing CDIs. Other than that I'm sticking I with the NGK plug and wire. It may inhibit the "racing" or "performance" of my scooter. But I doubt it.

It is going to be a combination of both the carburetor and variator weight. At stock my 150cc wouldn't pass 6000RPMs. No matter what. But first after installing a tunable carburetor, rejetting, and following Alley's guide it raised to 7000RPMs. Next I changed my weights from 13grams to 12grams, I top out just below 8000RPMs. I am very happy with the results and how she runs. Well, I'm not just looking to raise the RPMs. I need more top speed. It accelerates fine. I upgraded to a better carb so I'm not sure what rks is implying. Where is this "Alley's guide"? And in a very simplified way, higher RPMs will help with a higher top speed. But the increase in RPMs has to be balanced with the gears. For my 150cc 8000RPMs seems to be the tipping point of optimum performance and power loss. That's why my tuning goal was to reach just below 8000RPMs. Below are dyno results for a Honda CBF150, but is a very good illustration of the principle.
