Thanks, rosiemoto and Alleyoop . I'm pretty pleased with it ! A $500 scooter with $4000 worth of our brain, blood, sweat and tears into it, lol! That does include purchase and registration costs though. The only parts that I replaced are the seat, tires , rear tail lamp , brake calipers and lines, and bearings. Aside from tiny parts. Everything else was cleaned, vinegar soaked, wire wheeled, sanded and painted. BOY, am I glad that, that part is OVER. I've got a photo diary and the sciatica to PROVE this, Alleyoop! LOL! I can probably say that I am more familiar with this scoot than I ever thought I would be this soon, for sure! Rosie, Alley is helping me ( Of course ! )through a "No start" condition right now. I took it outside the apartment to start it but, nada at the switch Wiring or something went awry along the way and electrical is NO my forte, IF I have one. So back into the dining room it came, lol! But, I have faith, we'll get her rolling on some pavement very soon!

Kickstart

scooterkev , depending on what MODEL you have, there could be variations that will make a difference as to the correct parts for yours if, you need them, and is why Alleyoop asks for the info. For instance, mine is a Gy6 150cc also, it's a yy150T-2 with a QMJ157 engine. Check your information plates for the numbers and/or post pics of your kick start assembly,K ? He posted a link to instructions on how. He recently took me through my kickstart assembly so, I thought I may be able to help but, we need the info first.

< I changed this post. Dont know how to delete one. I had first reported here "no voltage to red wire on ignition switch". BUT I retested with a surer ground point and the 12 Vs are there I also retested the START button and there are NOT 12vs there.

Also, I had used little blob of dielectric grease on all of the contacts in the switches. I wonder if I used too much perhaps, causing a problem?

Yes, I see that a lot. Abruptly abandoned threads. Okay, got her undressed again and YES, the solenoid is plugged into the green yellow/red yellow wired plug . At the start switch, the wires on mine are Green/white (As opposed to Green/Yellow , perhaps faded? ) and Red/yellow, and there is no voltage reading there, with THIS, what I believe to be the kill switch pushed to its left side, and sidestand UP (Although for info, mine doesn't appear to have a switch there), and the brake taped. There was no response when jumping the solenoid contacts, at all. It appears to be connected well and routed correctly.(I never disconnected it) Yes, the fuse is good. I have tested it. I checked for continuity between the wires that I had spliced to the new rectifier and they all seem to be making contact. (Hopefully, I did not wire anything incorrectly there but, you know the adage "PICS, or it didn't happen !" ? For me it was "PICS, or it won't happen well!" ) My neighbor told me today that the starter was about a year old. I followed the black wire to it and it appears to still be connected securely, I never have disconnected it.

Mine is not too easy to get to. No "Pull out bucket" so, I'll have to do some panel removal . I'll roll her back into the apartment, do the checks and get back asap. Thanks again Alleyoop , my scooter genius

Thank you so much Alleyoop ! Yes, the brake lights DO come on when I squeeze the lever WITH the key turned to the right. Nothing without the key turned. I'll look into the rest, and report back .

I tried to start her up, my QMJ157 , after this restore. I get nothing when I hit the start button. I knew to hold the brake in while trying to start it, the battery is at 12.3 volts, the switch was at least good when I took it off, I tried the "Kill" switch in both positions, my key cylinder only seems to have 3 positions and won't turn all of the way to where the torn up sticker reads "Ignition". unless, it is not turning all of the way ? The position in the pic below is as far as it turns to the right. I've tried it off and on the center stand (In case there is some safety switch against starting on it. Don't remember seeing one) Is there any reason that I shouldn't bypass the start switch to eliminate that the switch has gone bad? (Anticipating that it's what I don't know that could hurt me or, it ). There is a possibility that the connection at the replaced rectifier isn't solid (Oh, how I dread the thought of having to disassemble again to get to it). Where would you start ? Pardon the pun !
