Before I start the goods and bads, My usage is daily with rare exception and it is not only transportation but a toy to enjoy. Yep have bigger bike on lay away but decided to keep it, Mrs Newbies son will get a gift one day. Better than a boat, better than a Jet Sk, ( Hate going round and round on a lake)!!. More fun than a big bike cause it doesnt cost an Arm and a leg to mod it. Im not trying for the land speed record just playing with it. I Ok 1200 Km and here is what it is doing now and problems or surprises encountered. Leaky tire valves, we all know the fix. Drain for carb has leaked fuel out one time so I really tightened the screw. Poor dash lights, fixed that, with aftermarket L.E.D. kit. Poor head lights, need some type of hi intensity bulbs. Installed aftermarket lights but inspector will not pass, not factory. Good points: 1.Runs great stock. Sucked till it hit 900 to to 1100 K.M. 2.Mileage great I dont even check it any more because mountain driving tears it up, last check we 77 MPG, LOL. I just fill it from my spare gallon jug after every two trips to town = 44 to 50 miles. I hate to and do not stop for gas, because I mix 87 amd 93, attempting to get to the 90 octane reccomended by wildfire so I fill my jug's when out with truck, and mix in a bigger jug at home. Octane opinion here it runs better with this mix and cooler. When I climb the bad mountain the engine is less noisy, when on 87 it sounds like a thrashing machine, so it must be giving a small edge on flame proplgation so running a little cooler. 3. Speed it slows on hills drastically but flat land it pegs chinameter, and messes up drive. That fix is coming. Ordered 6.5 G slider/roller and yellow C.Spring, as per Mo. Will let you all know what the results are. 4. Comfort, Seat is great leg room great but then again this is the wildfire 2008 49.5 Handsome model that was built on the 150 frame, with 12 In. tires. I have seen one like it, all the rest of the R-8's around are smaller, have 10 inch tires and no disc brakes. Did a two test rides yesterday (Sunday Here). First ride was really bad mountain roads gravel bumps chuck holes took about 50 minutes suspension and seat great. Second was after storms and rode it for 2 to 2.5 hours on roads. Believe it or not more comfortable than 2+ hours on the Harley Road King was, attribute this to not straddling the thing, My hips were ;D 5 Brakes & Stability, great really good, even at 49.5 mph GPS. Next thing.things to do: 1. Windshield! ON ORDER! Bugs are like missles here Cows!! Got one inside helmet. Been using full face ventilated since! 2. Scoop on air intake to see if it helps. I judge engine temp by noise. 3. Better headlights the factory don't cut it. 4. Order and install that clamp thing for the throttle to stop grasping the grip, hand gets tired. 5. Put inspection sticker on plate instead of front downtube. 6. LED over rear license plate. Wondering about higher higher gears and appropriate variator changes to cut RPM.

Stuck up? LOL after 44 years of riding Ive noticed a strange pheonoma when on my lil toy. When I rode the motorcycles I noticed many HD riders would not wave to croch rockets, however everyone waved to HD riders. Now, driving the wildfire 50, (on the 150 frame), I notice bigger bike riders dont wave to us! In the last three weekends I did a mental test waves to 37 big bikes, two waved back. Many look straight ahead and dont see you. ROFL. I actually saw at a gas station a Sportster ( HD) rider ignore a guy on a beautiful Black SilverWing, guess it looks too much like a Scoot. rofl. I guess the image is so important, (Last HD rolled out the door at $19,500, first big bike was a 500 Suzuki back in 67 rolled out the door for $950.00, lol). Never mind the sore butt, droning engine, summertime heat and most of all the 40 miles to a gallon. Guess it takes all types to make the world go round. Final thought, when approaching another Scooter/moped the riders usually smile and wave like Im a long lost Buddy! Funny one here, Dressed in HD leathers and full face HD helmet walked into Jewlery store to have battery replaced in the coveted orange Face Harley watch. Immediately the guy ( BMW rider),recognized the watch and its supposed value. He immediately started bike chat and when I told him the HD had been replaced by a Wildfire he stopped rofl.

Mcalli has an excellent point, Leg position is VITAL!! I dont see proper leg position like on a 250 or biger JCL/Rokita. Price, Chinese are building the bigger bikes and, (I believe and I could be nuts), they are intelligent enough to see the cruizer market in all countries as well as the grocery getters. I agree with Mauiboy on the wheels. Lets face it a 50 is a grocery getter or a townie bike. When you step up in CC's you start traveling further and further. From experience on motorcycles I know that when running 200 or more miles, seat, legroom and tire sizing is extremely important. LOL when I sold the Harley last July I never dreamed I would become a Scooter Convert. ( Kinda like an ex Smoker). ROFL!!

I don't know much about these things so this may be way off. But what about just using a fiberglass filler? Then sand it smooth and paint it. That is a good idea if it will bond to the plastic, and if the trunk is stable enough th not flex and allow it to come loose. He cold try the stuff to fix flex bumpers also. I didnt see the pics when I made my post, thats not a crack thats a huge gash! I try to save and use whatever I can, its the old age thing, I actually have a fifties Harley trunk Ive put off using because it has strange locks.(big enough to store all your groceries in). rofl.

So what is the belt size? It might help others? Closest belt to the math is a 729-17.7-30, on order will let you all know results.

89newbie a dollar saved is a dollar earned. I think we should put KZ in charge of finding the best deals on the net, with a finders fee. bet he would get rich quick. LOL as my post says put one of them on layaway in black, but thinking if we get the house Ill have a sore rear riding that 200 miles at a time.

Sorry just read your post. Yep I agree, agree so much I talked to them and put one on layaway. Now Im wondering if he JCL250 just listed there as a better deal. Seems my riding distances go up and down with the wind but thats because we are waiting to see if our offer on the house goes thru. I need a bigger bike and with this and the 14 inch tires a windshield a good tuning it just might work for commute.

Get a flexible tape and measure around the outside length of the belt you have in mms. That is the big number listed when you buy a belt. Then you can go online and find what belt goes with what machines. Today was busy busy busy, at any rate Mo (scrappyDog) asked questions did the math then drew it and looked at it all and came back to me. Its a long case and he mathed the belt size. The man is just plain good at what he does!

Plastic weld is easy once you get the hang. Here is how I do mine. Analyze the thickness of the plastic and get doner plastic that is a match in color and thickness. Here is the diff. I use that no else has mentioned, but I learned it during plastic work in plastcs handling acids. Since this takes special tools here is how you can adapt, dont laugh it works. Propane torch, flat blade screwdriver. Heat screwdriver just like you are tempering metal, orange or red glow, carefully V the crack. Same method for the filler, melt filler, as you do that heat screwdriver put filler on top side of heated screwdriver and use heated bottom of screwdriver remelt the V and work the two plastics togethor slowly, working the two melts togethor so they bond. Dont worry about appearance you can work that later once entire crack is plastic welded. Biggest thing to remember both sides (cracked piece and filler) have to be melted and soft or it will be a cold joint that will recrack. If you have a light touch you can use a soldering gun. I prefer my way because I can judge my temp by the color of the heated blade.
