Now that Ive done the fuel thing I am wondering if the third fuell component on the upper frame, drivers side, is a roll over safety? Anybody have a fuel system diagram on the little critter? Also Im done done done done with the piece of crap electric choke!!!!! Also in question Ive noted from looking at other ice bears there is a can in front of the muffler a cat?

After getting involved with the fuel thing on Mrs.Newbies 50cc Ice Bear I have diligently read the trike posts. Compared to the Wildfire the trike shows care in assembly and quality in components. I am now wondering if going bigger makes sense as far as a trike is concerned. Since the weight of the bigger ones is what causes them to be slow, why not 150 it and spend drivetrain $ for better performance. Currently the only difference between the little trike and my two wheeler is tire noise from the trike, and careful on turns. Performance is pratically the same, ( trike has lighter variator weights to offset weight.and gets pratically the same gas mileage as the two wheeler. Final thought reverse. Being a former Bike Nut for, 48 years what happened to parking the thing by pulling into one parking space and parking in the next to avoid the need for reverse? OMG just had a vision of the old fat ones with the fat wives triking it! That will require bigger trikes and we will see all the retired ones on scoots instead of Harleys. (Harley lenghtened their big bike 3 inches simply for fat american's).

picked up two fuel filters, 7 ft. tefflon fuel line and new clamps after work. Allergies had my butt whipped tonight but I will do it tomorrow. Next thought is this 2010 emissions or is the ice bear built to a higher spec than the 2008 WIldfire. First time I have taken Ice Bear down and see quality in connectors, care in assembly six wires to the CDI, also exhaust has canister in front of muffler I believe is a catalist.

Ice Bear Mrs. Newbies, has a dual vacume tap ,one in each side of the intake. One line goes to vacum feed at tank, to draw fuel, which we all understand, the other goes to a black box that then feeds to the top of the fuel tank. On the bike the line to the top of the tank was chafed thru, (we only have put about 230 km on bike) Some nnuts way to fix the problem was to take a wire tie and crimp off that line. I had had hard starting with long warmups from day one on the trike. I reasoned the second line was to create a negative pressure on fuel tank to facilitate fuel flow or to eliminate vapors escaping and or to prevernt pressurizing tank. Needless to say when I cut the wire tie closing off the vacum Ms. Ice bear started immediately. Starved out for fuel and died. I attached hand vacume pump to fuel vacum feed ,removed fuel line from carb, got trickle trickle, I then removed line from fuel filter and got flow. O.K. two problems with fuel. There is a third fuel thingie I havent even looked at it till I get a mini fuel filter and replace the vent to the tank. How about it kids am I correct on the tap on top of the tank being a vent that is needed? With a clogged fuel filter at 230km (Black particles like dirt or paint residue, or wrong rubber) I will drain & flush the tank and pull the carb and get the rid of the rest of the crap. Mrs Newbie now thinks the dealer does this stuff because his warranty ends when you drive across curb, He charged his hourly rate to fix fuel guage on a friends three days after he bought it.

The 50cc have the engine mounts on the bottom of the engine case, the 125++ have them on the top of the case. You need an adapter as Bashan pointed out... ROFL at the price of the adaptor it would be better to buyt a 150 and have parts to sell

I've never owned a 50cc but I think you're trying to mix apples and oranges. The 50cc and 125/150cc are compatible on a lot of things but I'm pretty sure not from the variator on back. The first number on the belts is the length, you mentioned Scrappy's site, if you look on it you'll see that the 50cc and 150cc engines have different belts, none of them are the same. Look on the MonsterGY6 site, he sells a motor mount specifically for adapting a 150cc to a 50cc frame, there is no direct swap out as far as I've ever heard. I think that may be your problem. Rich Might be mixing but since it the same frame that some are installing factory from 125 to 250 water cooled, I know it is possible. I need to rewrite this one because it is misleading as to what I want to do as I see from your response, sorry.

Bashan thanks for the reply, made me realize what I was asking was misleading. Here goes another way. If I Stay with 50cc take Scrappys advice and upgrade with the big bore kit, performance variator, coil and bando belt . I think add performance gears and that will do it, give me the power for the hills since thats what Im doing it for. Any opinions will be appreciated. ;D

Question is define exactly were a scooter can ride and can not ride. My understanding is that as long as its a 2 lane road a scooter can ride but if there is a median you can not. Question of the speed a scooter can not exceed over 35 but everyone reads the law different. That is also the helmet law well I'm not going into that one lmao EXACTLY: NOT WHERE IT is driven by two things: ( other than politics and creating a revenue producing situation). 1. Posted over 35 MPH: Must be tagged as a motorcycle, PERIOD. 2. If eqipped with speedometer displaying in excess of 30 mph must be tagged motorcycle. ( Clerks at DMV disagreed on what this meant). 3. If over 49 CC=motorcycle

Poster earler about the new Scooter laws, here are the results of making my 49cc legal to ride roads with speed limits above 35, no interstate allowed. At Motor vehicles, three clerks put heads togethor to figure what to do, (three reads of the new law). Decision was tag as motorcycle, (no scooter tags here). Response to question if inspection was necessary was call State Police. Called three scooter dealers while clerks were discussing , response from all three, Moped/scooters 49Cc do not need tags & inspection. I will wait a few days and go to inspections since it is last day of month. Insurance for year $75.00, Registration & tags $ 40.00. Inspection probably 18.00. Total costs $ 133.00. Fine for riding on roads posted restricting scooter/mopeds, if I did not do this, $250.00 for uninsured vehicle on public byway, Non registered vehicle $125.00. Speeding ticket for over 30 MPH $150 if a strict Cop .Time in court ?, court costs at leat 67.50. Total fines would be over 500 bucks and how many points? Price to be safe $133.00. Wow I just saved enough to mod & rod it enough to get a speeding ticket for over 55 MPH!! rofl

Not sure if I should hide or admit that this is the one I appear to have ended up with. Until I see it in my garage I never say "I got it" - didn't get the first one I selected. My wife agreed with the Roketa 54, she won't get on the Fashion. Guys at working are laughing harder with this selection than they were with the Roketa I never got. Two guys are aready driving their Harleys. A guy in my pod in the office just got his Harley yesterday. He drives a beat up Subaru normally though. If he gives me too much crap, I'll mistakenly back into him with our 4x4 V10 Excursion or the Lincoln. www.classyauto.com/image_large.php?image_id=264301I like to be different so it doesn't bother me. I lead, they follow. Figured I'll save a few bucks first time around and learn my wants and needs on this unit, maybe sell after summer and concentrate on what I really want next winter and get a head start before the busy season. I fell into this too late this year. Wishing I hadn't jumped with PSM originally as their selection of what I wanted seemed to deplete when I hit the BUY button. I'm ok with it all so far, maybe cuz the weather has been crappy. Hopefully this goes thru and in a week or so I have something to show pictures of. From a former Harly Guy with 48 years riding experience: Hot days you are not roasting your privates in slow moving traffic. Mileage, Most I have seen from Harley was 45 mpg. Drop a Harley at the gas station or elsewhere, you need two to stand it back up. Scooter engine is low, Harley engine is high, weight gets opressive when moving it around. Seat??? only for shipping, unless you get optional one. you pay at least 300 bucks to get one that does not wear your butt out. I spent 500 bucks for mine and when I sold it I got nothing for the seat. I bought a 50 CC to ride with Mrs. Newbie on her trike. I can ride and ride with no butt problems. Acessories, you can buy another scooter for what the prices are in a Harley dealer, Insurance no comparison. The old ditty is true " Harley Davidson made of Tin, Ride it out and push it in". I will get a bigger scooter, I doubt I will ride it 978 miles on a weekend like I did with one Harley but then again I will not have sore hips from straddling a monster.

EARTHMAN I live in SC and I sure don't pay insurance that high at all. I own a 250 CC have a motorcycle license which is required about $20.00 that goes to 2019. Paid $15.00 for property tax and my insurance is a $104.00 a year. You are right in SC 50 cc scooters are DUI scooters. All the 50 CC owners can get made at me, but I can sure see why some motorists are fed up with following a moped doing 35 in a 55 mph speed limit road. You will have to explain all of those fees. Nice bike what is it?

I don't know where you got this information about Va moped laws but what you are saying is nothing but a rumor. I've asked my local cop friend and there is nothing to his knowledge saying that you have to register a moped. Now if the moped travels over 35mph then you have to register it as a motorcycle anything less is not required. If you can show us proof of this change show it. Actually It was read to me at the DMV by one clerk. When I went back to get the forms the receptionist pulled it up because it is so unclear. In the section they are reading there are actually stipulations between scooters and mopeds. They are unclear to even the clerks. I was advised that the police probably do not know these laws since they have remained unchanged for years. If you want to see it go ask at the Va. DMV and get them to pull it up. If you are riding with no problems the let it lie. Reason I am so cautious is we have a town close by that one of the cops actually stops trucks pulling trailers, makes driver jack trailer and reads the ball size. Additionally they changed a speed limit from 35 to 25, posted signs for less than a week about the change, and now they are having a field day. The Sheriff's dept for the county is cool but that city has lost a great deal of revenue and the police dept has to be a self fufilling prophecy.
