What have some of you used? I made my own - I know it's a bit unconventional but I only use it on long stretches. Just a little bit of bungee cord and a wire tie.

WOW!! that is a huge difference in illumination, nice mod. Alleyoop Thanks - I'm really enjoying them - I don't seem to annoy oncoming drivers, which is good. You should see it with both headlights on! Daylight.

Thanks -
Been looking at it and it seems you're right - I just stress out sometimes. Seems like Parts for Scooters has the CN250 stator as well. Thanks for the gasket link.

Engine - CFMoto 244cc Honda Clone.
I was having problems missing etc at 5000+ rpms. That seems to have been remedied with the CDI/Coil combo.
I've been having problems with my charging system as well. Initially, I was having problems getting even 12V while running. Had to put it on the charger every night. So far, I've checked and re-checked the wiring, connectors, replaced the rinky-dink fuse with a good blade fuse, replaced the rectifier, blocking diode, and replaced the cdi and coil with a combo cdi coil. Now, I get 12.75V at 4000rpm+.
The only thing left is the stator. Are they all the same? Do some have better output than others, or do they all really come from the same place? Replace it with a real Honda stator.
How hard is it to change? Is it doable with the engine in the bike?
Hunting for a clue.

I'm following this thread pretty close. I've got the CFmoto (Honda clone). How hard is it to change the stator? Any threads on it? I've got a new regulator, blocking diode, CDI/Coil, and I still can't get the charging voltage over 12.75 volts. (that's at 5K rpm)

Just did my first fill-up since the install. MPG hit 58, and that was with me having fun. The highest MPG I got before the upgrade was 52mpg. The scoot pulls harder and runs at top end much smoother. Adding the Avons and the extreme Performance CDI/Coil makes it feel like an all-together different machine. Everything else is pretty stock except for the LEDs, HID.

And now, completely unrelated to scootin'..... The tiniest frog I've ever seen. Rained about 4 inches the other day, and these guys were all over the place..

I have a YY250T with the CFMoto engine. As stated before, I'm experiencing a little problem with my charging system. I've gone all LED and put HID headlights in last winter. She just got new Avon tires and it was a significant difference in the ride.
The other big change was adding the CDI/Coil combo from KidNMe. Still being surprised at the performance increase I got from that.
I've nearly 4,000 miles since Feb '09 and feel I have many miles to go.
Shh, don't tell anyone, but I'm getting ready for a SS1000. Just get the charging system worked out now.
You found a great site for support. There are some really good folks here.

Pulling the plastic is fun! (But, then again, I get a root canal without any anesthetic.)
I just did a 1 year PDI when I had the plastic off to install KidNMe's xtreme performance CDI/Coil combo. ~nice~ I also installed a new rectifier. I'm going to have to pull the back end again when I install the blocking diode that I just ordered. I found a few bolts which took a turn, popped a little OxyGuard in the connectors for the heck of it, and relocated my gas filter to the lil inspection hatch on the left of the tunnel. Now I can get to it easy if I have to. (see my post in Vendors under KidNMe.)
my philosophy on my scoot is .... a stitch in time....

I just added the KidNme Xtreme Performance CDI/Coil combination, and all I can say is WOW! I found another use for the "useless panel" on the left rear of the tunnel. Recently, I moved my gas filter to behind the door so I could examine it without pulling 1/2 of the plastic off, now I've mounted the Xtreme Performance kit there so I can adjust the lil screw if I have to. I'll have pics as soon as I can get my phone to send to photobucket. The install of the Xtreme Performance CDI/Coil was very easy. I had a little confusion when I found that my CDI had 2 wires, but a quick phone call found Tom (the star in the videos) at the other end of the line cleared things up quickly. I'm now checking out some of the other goodies at KidNme. I wanted to add some photos of the install... First, the Jonway style scoots have an inspection access hatch on the left side of the tunnel which for the most part is useless. . Earlier, I had relocated my fuel filter to the area so I could get to it without taking 1/2 of the plastic off the scoot. Now, I've installed the CDI/Coil assembly where I could get to the timing adjustment screw so I could tweak the timing if I needed to. . Now, it is no longer a useless inspection port! The above endorsement was a completely unpaid for testimony.

I changed my flashers and did not have to change the relay. The front flashers are the same type bulb as the rear flashers. I was getting yellow bulbs for the front lights, but they sent me 1 yellow and 1 white. I haven't bothered to order more yellows yet (they come in pairs where I got them on e-bay.)
I'm now running all LEDs, HID for the headlights (wow). I just haven't changed out the instrument panel lights yet. I hear that LEDs in the instrument panel can help with the panel visibility.

Stuck in a new rectifier and Kidnmes' xtreme performance cdi/coil - Still no joy. 5,000rpm = about 12.45 volts. Give or take a few tenths because the voltmeter on my scoot is a Chinese voltmeter I got off e-bay for 5 bucks. However, when I check it with my Radio Shack DVM (another cheap Chinese voltmeter) and the voltmeter on my scoot are with 4 or 5 hundreths of each other when I have them on the charger. I wanna cry. Stator? I can only imagine how hard that thing is going to be to get to. I can say that it's not spitting and missin' anymore.
However, with the new Avons I can ride off into the sunset until the battery goes flat.
