I went this morning at 8:20 and took my motorcycle skills road test and PASSED. ;D I now have a CLASS DM License. I am so happy. I was nervous going up today. I felt like I was back in school going for the big test.

Congrats - it does feel good, doesn't it!
Dumb question - what's a class DM? Here in PA, I have an "M" endorsement on my regular driver's license which covers all motorcycles. An "M8" is restricted to motorcycles only. Under 50cc you don't need an endorsement.

In Wisconsin your regular license is a Class D They add the M to the end when you get your Motorcycle Endorsement making it a DM.

sure is a ten fold bonus when it comes to having the right license when you have scooters on the mind. on the other forum almost weekly there is some person trying to figure out how to ride a 150 with out getting the right license or how to buy a 50 and spend tons of money to get it to run 55 with out a license. with out the endorsement no dealer in their right mind would ever let them take a test ride so they could make a decision of what the right scooter was to buy. congrats. john

In Ohio you still have to register and tag a 50cc and have Insurance on it you just don't need a motorcycle endorsement. It always amazes me how some people don't think they should have to have liability insurance. If someone on a 50cc scooter hits a car at 35 MPH it is going to do some some serious damage to the car and the rider. But some think it is the car owners responsibility to cover the damage to their car not the unlicensed and uninsured scooter rider. I say get your MC license, take the MSF course and you can get out of the skills test in most states. I rode for years then quit for about 25 and when I started again I took the MSF course, time and money well spent. (Couldn't do the figure 8's in the box then and still can't, that is what kept me from a perfect score after I aced the written exam.)Congratulations on passing you MC test and as always "ENJOY THE RIDE!!"

In Wisconsin All everything under 50cc get registered as Moped over 50cc gets registered at Motorcycle. They have a whole list of regulations on them. One of the biggest money makers is tickets around the College for people riding 2 up on a Moped/scooter.

Congratulations on passing the test - we are all safer now! Here in CA. all 49cc and above require a M1 license...I see quite a few Craigslist ads saying "50cc - no license required", our local impound yard is full of 50cc scoots. One would be customer had lost her drivers license - DUI - bought a used 150cc thinking that would be ok - had it impounded after being stopped and arrested for yet another DUI, then came to me looking for a 50cc - I had to ask her to leave the premises after she started yelling at customers, telling them that I wouldn't let her test ride a 50cc scoot... Like I say, we are all safer with licensed drivers on the road...

Good for you Chris. I hope we don't read about some drunken woman crashing on a 50.
