You had to see that coming. For years 50cc Scooters have been referred to as DUI Cycles down there. It's no secret that bozos with bucks have been buying expensive Italian two strokes and modding them to run over 50 mph. What do you think the odds are that an insurance company will give liability insurance to somebody with a suspended license for DUI? It stinks that it spills over to nice, honest people but there you are.

When I first saw these after I got my first scooter I thought they were epically ugly. Then I started to read about them and understood why. The whole Helix scooter was built to last and every component was put where longevity was maximized. It may be ugly but it works. It has trickled down to the clones too. The only difference is that the Honda was put together to run flat out all day. Do that with the Chinese versions and you're cooked. They last best if you remember that 65 mph is about all you can safely run all day. Beyond that the clock is ticking.
The CF Moto Fashion originally had an MSRP of $3350 and you could haggle down from there. A Honda Helix last sold for $5600 and you could take it or leave it. I picked mine up for a song with 1900 miles. I don't regret it a bit. It's not just a great scooter, it's a great bike.

Not to pick nits, but you showed us the clutch most. It would have been nice to see the CVT. I did see the belt pull down into the clutch but not the belt moving out on the variator.

Many CF Moto parts are Japanese. The transmission bearings all were made there.

Luke is just telling you it's time to park the scooter like we do for Winter. Like we need heat in our cars, they need AC. It's why he doesn't ride any more than we do here in the Northeast.

I've been following Paul Smith's Blog for almost six years now. He has used his 2008 Kymco People 150 for just about everything. He just finished a long tour from southern PA to western NY and over to Massachusetts and back. scootinfool.blogspot.com/2014/06/there-and-back-again.htmlFor those who aren't Metric oriented his starting mileage was 18839 miles and finished up at 20169 for a total trip mileage of 1330 miles. Not too shabby for a Taiwanese GY6. I gotta try that kind of a ride someday on Rocket.

Hero Motors is the largest motorcycle company in the world. They signed a deal giving Erik Buell the rights to distribute them in this country. Supposedly he's going to have dealers lined up and selling this year but I haven't heard a word about anything yet. If he does this right it will turn things on their ears. Hero has tons of cash and experience behind them.

Over at "The Scooter Professor" (Friends button up top of the page) is a guy titled CCProf. He's had a Hyosung for years, likes it and doesn't seem to have trouble. You could talk to him about where he gets parts, service tips and performance. It's probably one of the very forgotten brands, but it is high quality.

This is my wife's second run in with cancer. Twelve years ago she had breast cancer and beat that. The worse part is that they do a survey to determine your susceptibility and she always scores low. She has done everything you can possibly do to prevent having the disease and it hit her not once, but twice. I'm hoping that once she recovers she gets back on the bike. It's just sitting there lonely and waiting to be used. I may have to start using it just to keep the dust off but it's hard enough just keeping three bikes in motion without adding a fourth. In better days.

We do keep up with all the doctors. We're like a couple of used cars. We run along fine one day and then sputter the next. We're on a first name basis with too many doctors and their staff to suit me. Riding helps keep our spirits up and active.

Mine doesn't have a kick start but that doesn't mean it might not be on a bike somewhere. How about you KZ?
I don't believe any of the CN 250 engines have a kickstarter. Honda didn't put one on the Helix or Elite and that's what this engine is a clone of. There would also be a boss inside or casting mark on the variator cover if there ever was one. The Honda Rebel has a boss on the right side engine case that was where the kickstart lever was on much earlier engines.

Thanks John. My wife is actually fine, sort of. She had the surgery to finish up part of the cancer treatment. She is home. mending and looking better every day. What made the surgery so intense is that the surgeon did exploratory work to check for any recurrence of cancer. She's clean, no trace and looking forward to recovering. It's been hard for her, she's not a big girl and her body has been through the mill.

Yes, I have the CF Moto version. Rich is actually the authority on these bikes. He has taken off the plastics and knows it through and through. I'm prejudiced but I think it's a great bike. The CN 250 engine was first produced in the mid 1980s and refined through the years. These are clones but the architecture is solid.

These days John, I use the CF Moto the most. At least in terms of mileage. It can go on the interstate. Last week I had to visit my wife in the hospital for four days while she recovered from surgery. I ran up over 300 miles on those trips and the Fashion handled it just fine. I use the Bashan many days to commute to work, a 35 mile round trip. I use the 50cc with the milk crate to do shopping. In terms of numbers of trips I actually use the 50cc more, I just ride the other scoots further.
I hope you get the Vino back soon. The weather is gorgeous and made for riding.
