i quote----> "in the past, I've seen these types of venting threads turn into a b_tching session."...well let's ask speedracer what's his purpose for posting this thread.....is it to start a b--tching session? again? or something else?? whatever his intention is,i'm sure it must be good...or i want to think it's good. ;D BTW who authored the thread "anyone got a message from jr" ?? that one got really out of hand.... i forgot who authored that thread,,( ) anybody know?...ahh! anyway, past is past....i don't wanna worry about it at this point in time, tomorrow is saturday, need to ride at least 200miles to satisfy my scooter addiction...... My only reason to starting this tread was to remind all members if they seek sone sort of advise to be kind enough to let us know if it worked or not. If a certain fix works that great for everyone. I'm not b******g about anyone or trying to start a tread which gets everyone all mad. Luke I am the one who started the JR tread. Made a mistake and admitted to it.

Only 340 miles, it's new. One thing that happens a lot is the spark plug wire is not pushed tight enough on the plug. Make sure you press it on hard.

I use Mobil 1 75W 90 and it works fine. All you need is 7 oz.

Thank Texan I didn't know it was an easy to do switch. I take it you are from Texas so I know it get real hot there. You have no problems with heat from those halogens? How many miles have you run using them if you don't mind me asking?

Texan, I failed electronics 101, still working on how a light switch works LOL. Did those H4 sockets fit into the BA 20D sockets?

You didn't say how many miles on it, but a valve job just may do the trick. Have you checked or changed the fuel filter? Another problem could be the spark plug being fouled. I don't want to hit you with a list of things but there is also a bad coil would cause the problems you are having. A dirty carb or pilot jet certainly can cause hard starting and stalling.
As far as having the oil cap off or loose it will blow oil out with a lot of air. Keep it tight.

Texan, you must have changed the sockets for that bulb. I know mine has a BA 20D socket. I was able to put in 45 45 bulbs. Everyone is right the gauges suck. I use the odometer too. Fill it up between 120 to 160 miles. Most I ever put in was 2.5 gallons.

I'm curious where you purchased your headlight. Youster is right the 54B has few charging issues. The Led changes are helpful. I think your new gauges are messed up. My fan only comes on when gauge is at half. Fuel gauge is a joke as mine shows empty at 100 miles with still plenty of gas in it.

Talk about fast shipping. Ordered new complete clutch from Scrappydogs on Thursday and received it on Saturday. Definitely made right choice in ordering a complete new clutch. Everything new and assembled for installation. Old clutch was down to its last few miles, and after putting on new clutch I feel like I have a new scooter. Grabs right away for faster take offs.

I don't think your engine was air cooled then changed by the factory to water cooled. As far as I know all china 250 scooters are water cooled.
If its running at 3/4 hot is the fan running constantly?

My problem is what type of system does it have in place when making a quick but needed turn? The Can Am uses it braking system to automatically keep the front the tires from lifting and having the trike tip over. Of course the Cam Am is 10 times the price and comes with a much larger engine.

I can't make heads or tails of it, but I try to get the idea of what is written. In any event running 3/4 on the hot side isn't great. I live in SC and it was 102 the other day and mine never went over the 1/2 point on the temp gauge.
Sunlproblems have you changed your coolant? If it has a blue color to it I would drain the system , flush it several times, and put Prestone 50/50 mix in.

You are doing the right things and hopefully your scooter will start and stay running. The Mikuni fuel pump fits perfectly in the same spot as your old one.
