Wet would be what "I" want because it is much less painful, but the doc wants it DRY so it will heal. If it stays wet it will take three weeks to heal a fresh layer, dry it'll be nicely coated over in skin in 2 weeks. oh well sorry i thought the conventional wisdom was to keep it wet with antibacterial ointment

i have almost the exact one. with the ramp, etc got mine for $40 off of craigslist it was kinna rusty. so a lil time with a wire brush and then i painted it silver to match the "bolt on" hitch i bought and painted silver. They look so much better then the black. also if i dont have the scoot on it { like im going to transport someones scoot} no one will walk into it, or run into it. The wheels sunk right down into it and i might have gotten away with no strap downs BUT NAW couldn't risk that
But now with the van 'impounded' the hitch is gone and the 'carrier' is just sitting in the basement.
BUT YEA IT WORKS GREAT
EDIT:::: oh after thinking i realized that when the unit slid into my receiver if i took the pin out i could slide it in about 3 more inches so i took the whole deal to a local metal shop and they drilled 2 holes on both sides so the unit could slide more into my hitch it felt and looked more secure that way and i got a couple more inches of clearance OH & make sure u get a locking pin

i rode all most winter. as long as the roads are dry, im fine. but that being said, you do have to concentrate a bit more. black ice is called black ice for a reason!!! i would usually ride only between 10am & 4 pm and if the sun was out, it was better. and IF i ever got a bit nervous well heck bell's i'd just slow down screw the people behind me, im not wrecking cause they are impatience.

welcome
i havent done it, BUT are things are relative. How mechanically inclined are you? alley and others i rate a 10 out of a scale of 1-10, 10 being best im a 2, maybe 3. i do my valves when they need it. dont even think its hard at all. on cars, ive done alot, but on my "Chrissy" i havent had to do much. 8k+ miles & only had to replace a magneto. TOOLS- thats the other point, do u have tools? Changing gears i think you would need a good shop set up, etc.. i would attempt more if i had air tools and other tools etc & another thing would be is there a shop close by? in case you get stuck or F something up.
