I am sure you will be tickled pink with it, and I fully understand your excitement. I have never met a 'R' model I didn't like.....and still think fondly of my 73, R60/5, every time I swing a leg over 'Schultz', or 'Dooley'. There is just something about a BMW that gets into your blood.

Since no one seems to be familiar with what you have, I guess the best way to go, would be to pull your present main jet, then go to the link below, and find one that matches it's appearance, and dimensions. Main Jets

Replaced my scooter's front tire yesterday, for the first time. Bought a couple of Michelin City Grips last year, in the 110/90-12 size, so I'd be prepared for this job. Even though the 120/70-12, Chinese original wasn't completely worn out, it was scalloping, which causes a bothersome vibration. Can't really complain too loud.... I did run it a little over 9,800 miles.
This new, 110/90 tire, measures 3.625", or 3 and 5/8 inches larger in circumference, than the 120/70 City Grip that is on the drive wheel. Mounted tires measured, 61.5" compared to 57.875". This calculates to 1030.24 revs per mile for the 110/90.....and 1094.75 revs per mile for the 120/70. I knew this would have a positive effect on my odometer, because it has always read a little more than the actual distance travelled.
So today I took my new tire out for a test ride, making sure to note the mileage before leaving (9,838.1)....turned on my GPS trip tracker, and off I went. When I got back home, odometer read 9,873.3 (or 35.2 miles).....GPS said I had covered 35.11 miles. Not bad for a China meter, is it. All you need, is to have the right size tire.
Won't get around to changing out the drive tire until this fall, but when I do, it should reduce engine revs by about 6.24%, so if I'm turnin 5500 at 40 now, it should be somewhere near 5160 at 40, with the taller tire.

Boy, it sucks to be you. Your actions are making your life far more complicated than it should be, and you are finding out that "actions do have consequences"......this is a lesson better learned as a youngster.
Hope they don't revoke your license. Might be time to try living within the law......life is so much easier when you do.

The hose is a drain for the airbox....for condensed blowby gases, and any oil the gets pushed out of the crankcase and into the airbox.

Rochester, NY is the closest metropolitan area to me, and has had three motorcycle fatalities in the last five days. All three were young males, in there early 20's, and all three were caused by the riders themselves (not a 4 wheeler doing something stupid). All involved excessive speed. It took authorities over a half hour to find the one who ran into a culvert at the end of someones driveway, the bike exploded into flames, emergency workers found no one in the lawn near the accident scene, but later discovered that he had been thrown 150 some feet, into the woods.
Another one, at an expressway ramp, ran through a red light, struck a car that was turning on a green arrow, hit the guard rail, was thrown off of the bike, over the rail, onto the expressway below, to be run over by another car.
I don't know where I'm going with this......just a shame to loose your life at 20 or 22 years old, because you're in a hurry.

Let's see now......your poor little engine is breaking valve springs, but not reving over 6k, and you say all you want is to get 4,000 more rpm's out of it? ARE YOU FREAKIN SERIOUS?

I logged many, many miles on route 17, back in my working years. Would cut across on 17k, when headed to Newburgh, or points in CT. (You probably did the same) Some of the most scenic driving in the country, and some really decent eateries along the way.
My hat is off to you.....my butt, or my back, would no longer allow me to make a trip like that on a bike....Glad things went well, and you had an enjoyable trip.

I read it differently, I guess: "The motor doesn't drop out, but the RPMs do decrease as I'm slowed."
I took 'doesn't drop out' to mean, doesn't quit..... "but the RPMs do decrease"....as they indeed would, if fuel supply was reduced by a restriction.

Sure sounds like fuel starvation. Have you checked the tank vent?......how about the tank itself, could there be something floating around in there, partially blocking the outlet at times? What does the spark plug look like?

Yes, frequent is right. I've been using a 600 mile interval.....but I'm thinking of increasing it to 900 miles. With my scooter having averaged 87.2 miles per gallon over the last 2+ years, I've been burning only 6.9 gallons of gas per oil change. Because I have installed, and monitor a catch can, I know blowby is almost non existent.....so I probably could go 900 miles easy....without hurting anything.
But, when it only costs $1.50 or $2.00 to change it........what the hell

Not many rich people ride scooters......and those that do, wouldn't be changing their own oil. So please don't take offense......I was joking....stirring the pot a bit.... And, you really don't need to be rich to use a synthetic oil. NAPA Autoparts, has their brand of full synthetic on sale til the end of the month for $2.99 a quart. Made by Valvoline, any weight you want, even a 15W/50, for those of you in the tropics. Then there is Shell Rotella T6, full synthetic, 5W/40.....on sale at Autozone this month for $21.99, and it has a $5 mail in rebate. I run this in my late model Camaro, due to an issue some have had with premature timing chain wear, running a 5W/30 synthetic, designed strictly for gas engines. So.....I do use synthetic in one of my vehicles. But the bikes all get Mobil Delvac 15W/40......"the million mile oil"

I wish I had our money.....I just paid $12.99 for a gallon of my favorite oil.....oh, and there is a $5.00 mail in rebate. That makes it $7.99, or $2.00 a quart, or $1.50 per oil change in my 150cc scooter, $8.00 per change in either of the BMW's, or $4.00 to do the Ural.
Maybe if I were rich I'd use synthetic......but I seriously doubt it.
