It would probably fail to illuminate if your stop light bulb was shot too. Every scooter has turn signal indicators... why not a stop light indicator...sounds like a good idea to me.

I'm 91 miles from Niagara Falls....current temperature is -13*, wind blowing 20 to 35 mph....don't think I'll be seeing any scooters out and about, today or anytime soon

Have to agree with jct842, you better be careful...for you don't know who you're dealing with. Probably more than 50% of those on the road with you, are on drugs, or some other mind altering substance. Not a good thing when it comes to behaving rationally.
When you are lane splitting, filtering, or what ever it will be called next week....you are projecting a "Hoo-ray for me, and F... you" attitude. You are telling those around you. that you are special, too good to wait your turn, as they have to.....that you, reaching your destination, is a much more significant matter, than their reason for being on the road.
Legal or not, I wouldn't do it....and believe that sooner or later, those that do, will be involved in an altercation with an irate driver, or his vehicle

Finally riding again. Thanks guys, gotta go find an arse to put on the back of this scooter. Hey....you can end this thread like this. Did you get someone else to mount your tire? Did you watch how it was done, so next time you can do it? Did you get a new wheel, or was the original still serviceable? You have to fill us in....."Finally riding again, thanks guys"......now, that just ain't right, we need a few more details

As stated above, it depends on how warm it got during your ride. Install an oil temp gauge, then you will know. I always let mine idle down for a few minutes after longer rides, or climbing the hills to get home from town. I posted some numbers here last December......of course, your mileage may vary.. This is what I wrote then...... VDO Oil Temperature, Electric, 120*f to 300*f + VDO sender installed in left side oil drain hole. Operating temps vary with ambient air temps, and engine load. I can start scoot, warm it up for 4 to5 minutes, ride 6.8 miles for coffee, and the oil will only get to 180*. Might add that the first 3 of those miles, result in an elevation drop of 1,000 feet. Longer trips of say 12 to 20 miles result with oil temps leveling off at 220* or 230*. Get on a good climb and 240* to 250* is not uncommon. Have seen 260* on occasion, when pulling in the driveway, but it has to be a really hot day. If parked on center stand, and allowed to idle 5 minutes, you can watch the temp drop 15 to 20*.. These numbers are what I've experienced......I don't ride at WOT, if you do, I would expect higher temps. If you ride in 95 or 100 degree weather. I would expect higher temps. In late fall, with cooler weather, I had days that the oil didn't reach 200*. "I rev'd the crap out of her and she was roaring."
"After I hit the kill switch I couldn't get her started again."
Seems like I might start trouble shooting at the kill switch instead of stator.

My scooter is a totally different animal, but cyborg is right about it taking more than a couple of hundred miles to loosen up. For my scoot, it was the 2500 mile oil change, before the oil screen came out completely free of debris. I had changed it at 100, 300, 600, 1000, 1500, & 2000 miles, and always had a couple of flakes of something trapped by the screen. Since that 2500 mile change, to the present 5800 miles, it has come out totally clean.
So give it some time.....it will run better and better
Check out the fuelly website if you are into long term mileage tracking

I just went down to the shop and measured two new belts, an 842 20 and an 835 20, they were both 19mm wide. They were both Gates. Thank you Rich.... I do appreciate you taking time to do it. Now that I know most (if not all) new ones, measure 19mm, I can better decide when to change one with no visible defects........Thanks again

Hi how high do you guys rate the Kenda K413's I wouldn't suggest a Kenda K413 to anyone as a drive tire......unless you enjoy changing tires every 2000 or so miles. That is what I got out of a 120/70 12 in that brand and model number.....actually 2200 miles....worn to the wear bars. (I am not hard on tires, I ride very conservatively, and I pay close attention to maintenance) I will never buy another Kenda Tire.

Sure sounds like a vent problem to me. Is it vented to atmosphere, or still connected to a canister somewhere?
You say you have bypassed the petcock...so right now it is gravity feed.
I would fill the tank with gas, have an empty gas can ready, pull the fuel line from carb, and see if it flows well until gas tank is empty. If you get a good solid stream until tank is empty, it would eliminate the fuel line, filter, crap in tank, and vent problem.......and mean your float or needle valve is the problem.
But I feel the gremlin is somewhere above your carb

Thanks guys. I still have at least two months to decide which belt to run this upcoming season. Still wish I knew if all 20mm belts, actually start life closer to a 19mm width. If my old belt has only worn a tad more than 1mm in 4800 miles...that's great. Now if it was a true 20mm when new, and is down 2mm, to the present 18.08mm.....Then that's a horse of a different color
From now on, I will measure every new belt before installing....so in a few years, I should know the answer to my original query

Seafoam

I have never heard a negative comment about Sea Foam. I use a similar product, and add a few tenths of an ounce to every gallon, each time I fill up. Must be doing something, for I have run it 3 seasons, and never had to clean my carb. Advertised to help with the carbon deposits in and around the combustion chamber. Also add to both of my fuel injected motorcycles, at each fill up.
So I say go for it.....read and follow directions

I've asked this question on another site...and no response. Thought I'd try here.
Has anyone taken an accurate measurement of a new belt before installing? I'm talking belt width. Are the advertised/printed sizes nominal, or supposed to be actual?
Doing a bit of off season maintenance, and decided that with 4800 miles on the belt, I'd better check it.(Gates Powerlink Premium 835 20 30) After a good cleaning, I flipped it inside out to check for cracks...not one found. No fraying of any kind going on either. Got out my trusty vernire calipers to measure the width...taken at 4 places ...all read .712" (18.08mm). Think I read somewhere wear limit was 17mm....But I ordered a new one anyway, same brand and part number (PL30507). When it arrived, I measured it to see what the unused width was, and sure was surprised to find it to be .756" (19.2mm)
Is this normal....or did I get a bad belt? I also have a Bando with only 980 miles of use, that measures 18.66mm. I'm beginning to think none of them come from the factory at the full 20mm advertised width.
Please help me out with this, if you can...
