At 73 years of age I decided that I had been very fortunate while riding two-wheelers. No accidents, no mechanical breakdowns, etc. So I sold my Honda Silverwing last Sunday, and have retired from riding. This forum has been very enjoyable and helpful, especially when I had the Roketa. I hope many more scooter lovers will enjoy the forum and get help in learning what type of scooter to buy, how to do repairs, where to buy parts, and how to enjoy the activity.

I bought Michelin Pilot Power Pure SC for my Silverwing last Fall. I have put on about 1,500 miles since then, and have enjoyed the ride with these new tires. I purchased them from Motorcycle Super Store.

We had 45 degrees here in the Detroit area today, so I cranked up the Swing and took a little ride. The scooter ran well, and it was good to get out there again. We have 50 million potholes around here, so riding on some streets is difficult. Nobody in office wants to spend any money creating jobs by fixing highways and bridges.

Several years ago I bought a Honda Spree that didn't run for $100. Although I knew very little about fixing motors, I did know that many small engine problems were simply gummed up carburetors. I bought it for my grandson, who seemed to live at our house most of the time. We took the carb apart, soaked it in a solvent, and put it back together, and the scooter ran. The experience gave me a chance to teach my grandson about SAE vs metric tools, etc. He and the neighbor kid used the scooter for a couple of years before they got tired of it.

I purchased my new Michelin tires from this store a few weeks ago. It was one my best purchases in recent months. Great price, great shipping service, and their "Preferred Installer" program was a wonderful experience. My local Honda dealer wanted about 50% more for the tires, and about $20 more for the installation. I highly recommend Motorcycle Superstore. I had no problem accessing the website via Firefox rather than IE.

This seems like a pretty good price for an emergency rainsuit which is waterproof and breathable to keep in the scooter. www.sportsmanguide.com search for item J2P229236 Mike Attachments:

I just finished a trip from Detroit up I75 into the UP and then down to Marinette, WI. I returned via 41 and I94 through Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan. The total ride was just over 1,000 miles. I had trouble with strong swirling winds on the trip north, and had difficulty with the wind on Mackinac Bridge (I kept thinking about the news report a few years ago about a young lady in a Yugo being blown over the side of the bridge). The Silverwing handled the freeway speeds just great (70 - 75 MPH). The trip north took 9 hrs. Then I went to visit a friend in Milwaukee, which was about a 3 hr ride. The trip home from Milwaukee was 7 hrs. Lots of fun riding.

I had the same unit (2008 Roketa 250 54B) and I had some problems early on. I am not mechanically inclined, but I was able to adjust the valves using the video and instructions from this website. Ran like a charm when I was finished. I sold my Roketa with about 900 miles on it for $1,300, so you got a really good deal.

Here some videos about cars, cycles, etc. found in an old barn of a guy in Illinois who had saved all kinds of stuff. He had something like 50 old motorcycles. Some from the 30's actually started. They are having a big auction in November. I suspect this might be something Alley Oops will want to attend. www.coolestone.com/media/3728/America039%3bs-Ultimate-Barn-Find/
