We just got back from the Frankenmuth Autofest. People from all over come to see the cars and have a blast, and let me tell you, it WAS a blast. We had an awesome time, from being with the coolest of friends and meeting great people, to riding around on a battery powered cooler and tricked out golf cart. Very fun, and we got to see A LOT of vehicles. Anybody go to the Autofest this year? I brought my scooter with me but they wouldn't let me into the Autofest with it! I wasn't entirely sure what this was, but I liked it! Here's what my Dad was showing, his '64 Belvedere! Just crossing over the shielded bridge in Downtown Frankenmuth! And it offers an AMAZING view of the river that flows underneath it. We went to Sullivan's Black Forest, and had an amazing meal two nights in a row! (One of our great friends covered our bill twice...over $300 in food!) And of course we couldn't leave Frankenmuth without some fudge! Delicious! And that was our trip to Frankenmuth!

Without an airbox you would be getting too much air, so you would have to either up jet or adjust the air screw. If the change in air is drastic you have no choice but to up jet. Does it run WOT?

Hmm, WOT is my best friend. We hang out all the time. In fact I'm usually with him 90% of the time. He hasn't killed my engine, yet!

I didn't say I made a habit of killing it while I was moving. It was a one time thing that resulted in an observation.

I don't know how you're capable of that, Luke. Unless you were to heat up the metal to an almost melting point and then tried to break it with your jaw. I've never broken a Chinese bolt by accident. I had the unfortunate incident where a bolt broke in my CVT cover, but it was MY fault, it was cross threaded and I was too rough with it. Any bolt, American, Chinese, Japenese, would have failed the same way. While I can't say the same about the ABS plastic, I'm hoping that one day they will upgrade their plastic quality. Other than that, my scooter has 4451 miles on it with absolutely no major engine work besides valve adjustments, and only a couple bulb replacements. I bet you I only have $350 TOTAL in the bike (including the purchasing price at $200). So $350 for the past two years of fun and close to 3000 miles of riding? I would spend it again.

I'm thinking I might have 1000 RPM clutch springs at this rate. I should not have to get my idle down so low to disengage the clutch. Or maybe my clutch springs are worn out!

It feels like my clutch is always engaged. Maybe my idle is too high, then? Because unless my engine is stopped, I can feel an engine braking effect. I can tell you that I'm idling far below 2000 RPM. Maybe 1100 AT THE MOST

Okay, so I'm just wondering how this would work. So say I'm traveling down a hill at 10 miles per hour like I was today. Just to be fun, I cut the engine so I can coast down the hill in silence. But I notice that the engine won't cut out until I reach a low enough speed (although throttle won't respond with ignition off). Once it does cut off though, it's like the bike was released from a brake and it freewheels without restriction. How does the GY6 clutch cause engine braking without any engagement of the clutch?

Alley, what are you talking about? Highway? Moped? None of this applies here..nobody was riding a MOPED (meaning with PEDALS and an engine) on a HIGHWAY (of at least 50MPH speed limit)

I went out and measured the scrape mark the scooter made on the wooden bridge he fell on. 45 feet of pure skidding. OUCH OUCH OUCH!!

Rich i've seen fatal bike accidents where the bike could be ridden home,,,,,conversely i've walked away from a few wrecks when the bike was unrideable ,,,it's the luck of the draw and circumstances You're right. Somehow this thing just escaped almost all damage. It doesn't even look like it was downed. How it didn't break anything, I don't know. I just picked it up from the ground, put it on its stand, checked for any leaking gas and obvious mechanical damage, and since there was none, just started it back up. We rode home shortly after. When we got home we cleaned up his wounds and put gauze them. I felt like a doctor without a medical degree. I'm not alone in this world!

Easy Plant, we're all concerned about your brother and hope he gets well soon. It's a forum, the guys are going to say what they think, no offense meant. I gotta agree, stay off the sidewalk even if it is legal. I get out there on the road and plant (HAR!) my arse in the middle of the lane. It's safer than a sidewalk. I also gotta say your brother ain't wrapped real tight. Running out of oil, broken shock, related to you, lots of problems there. He needs to start thinking like his brother the fern. It's amazing how a bike can spill and not get trashed, I've never understood that. I think the handlebar and foot peg protect it. Anyway, the guys mean no harm, just opinionated. Rich Well, I'm not saying that ALL sidewalks are safe. The one that I use is a lot safer than the road. I ride on the road most of the time but this is just a single sidewalk I ride on because the traffic on this particular road is aggressive. Regardless of the legality I find that I'm safer on this particular sidewalk. Nobody ever travels on this one anyways. And trust me, sometimes I curse my relation to him But he's my brother. I have to deal with him!
