Curious for those that have tachs what kind of rpms your scoot turns. With my current variator/ final drive/ tire size I seem to be turing on the average 1K/10mph once a constant speed is reached. Varies slightly with wind/ loading/ etc.

Cheap and Easy....my middle name! That's my full name! markwb-- The magnet is simply stuck to the hex head of the drain plug. That way there is no risk of it getting loose inside the gear case. These magnets are so powerful that the pull on the threaded end(thru the plug itself) will easily support this small screw driver. For sure catching anything ferrous in the oil. Attachments:

The magnet is held in place by it own force. I cant imagine it ever shaking off. I tested that theory by dropping the plug several feet on to a concrete floor, hung right in place. One could very easily bond it with a drop of epoxy or JB weld just to be sure. Will add one to the engine drain plug also.

Sure its been done a zillion times before just thought I post a pic. Was draining my reduction case today and added a rare earth magnet to the bottom of the drain plug. Has enough pull to hold a small screw driver to the plug. For sure will catch any ferrous particles from gear wear. Attachments:

If its completely stock start with the simple things like improving the breathing with intake and exhaust up grades. My wifes 150 scoot was so restricted in the exhaust it would barely do 40+. A simple hole saw cut in the right place on the muffler, an unlimited CDI and a free flow air filter had it close to 55mph with much improved acceleration. This was all under $25. Once these basics are done then add the 180cc kit with the proper carb, tune the variator and it will act more like a 250!

Hey everybody, just got into scootin, well actually my first two wheel ride was a 46 Cushman eons ago so am full circle I guess. All started recently when I bought my wife a 150cc Ruckus clone. Was just too cool so had to get me one. When I get into something I usually go at it in a big way so moddin the scoots started almost as soon as they were out of the crates. My clone has a 163cc BBK, matching big valve head, A10 cam, a newly added 30mm CVK style carb, the usual performance exhaust, intake, and unlimited CDI. Also running a Dr Pulley variator with 1K clutch and contra springs, with a Gates belt. Swapped the narrow stock wheels and tires for 3" wide wheels running 120/70/12 tires vastly improved handling. So am very pleased with the results! Moddin my Icebear Clone next so far have done an 80cc BBK with A9 cam and big CVK style carb. Made a real difference, but may just throw a modded 150cc in later. That's the sad part of 50ccing. The outer pulley is a stamping. Must be some machined out there some where(been lookin) haven't seen any yet that support the starting gear. Somebody enlighten me if there is and it is affordable.

Ur right about the emerging Chinese two wheeled market. Don't be too hard in the Japanese though. Its ironic that the Japanese cloning of the 50s-60s technology that put them in the fore front, is now the same mode the Chinese are using now. If Honda and others hadn't developed certain power train designs I doubt that one would see much more than the miserable bicycle engines that they the Chinese pirated from the Russians being offered. I feel I am in the same time frame for the Chinese that I was as a kid in the late 60s looking at sales brochures of Hondas, Suzukis, Yamahas, etc. There was no CNC back then just masterful engineering and marketing. The Japanese produced an excellent product for short money. That got em going! Hopefully the Chinese will realize, which I believe I am beginning to see, that quality matters. I bought my then 14yr old daughter(now 24) a 50cc scooter, was a real disaster! Things have improved greatly since then! We now have 3 Chinese scooters I couldn't be happier with. The fact that all of them added together cost less than a Ruckus is just icing on the cake!

50cc top end take off parts from my Icebear Ruckus clone. Removed with less than 2 miles ridden. Items include head, cylinder, piston, cam and rockers, stock CV carb, coil and cdi, and stock variator with 5gm weights. Basically as new parts. Perfect for a top end rebuild on a stock 50. $60 plus shipping. Also will probably be selling the 205/30/12 rear wheel and tire shortly. If interested make an offer. Attachments:

I recently installed a 60mm BBK with matching big port/valve head. This combo also raises the compression so that a HD starter was required. I coupled the BBK with an OKO 28mm flatside carb A10 cam, and of course free flow exhaust and air filter. What a power house! All this is on a Ruckus clone which is a pretty light scoot. Couldnt be happier with the results. These parts are high quality Tiawanese from Scooter Elements in PR. Knowledgeable people to deal with! Most all my scoot parts come from them.
