First off, you need to check your valves. If you look in the library section here you will find videos on how to do that. It's not overly difficult. You may have a fuel blockage, but it sounds more like valves to me from your description.

You can overload the regulator/rectifier and if you do, wires can start melting. Had it happen to me. Cost me Big $$ to get half my wiring harness replaced.

Chevron is almost all we have in Hawaii. Doesn't matter here anyway. We do not get gas shipped in, we get crude and we have our own refinery that makes all the fuel in the state. So, it doesn't matter where you get it from here. It's all the same gas.
