Happened to be in Waikiki today and was asked if I knew anything about mopeds. Ok, so why would they ask me out of thousands of people walking around? Ummm... maybe because I pulled up on my nighthawk and in my other job, I'm a Pastor for Bikers, so my standard uniform is a leather vest with my christian colors on it. Sooooo... ANYway... This guy looks at me and asked if I know anything about fixing bikes. I just looked at him and he pauses for a moment and then says, 'Ok, that was stupid question'. LOL Well, it turns out they are looking for a part time moped mechanic that knows how to change oil and brakes on any size bike. So, I might just have a couple of days a week paid OJT on GY6's. LOL (I can use the loot. Got some upgrades I want to do on my bike.)

wobble

I would replace the bearings on the right side. It has a definite wobble that looks like it's either not tightened down correctly or the bearings are bad.

You had the best possible result from that one. Not only was he embarrassed, but the kid learned not to do those kinds of things.

I made 50k on mine the other day and I'm still trying to recover from the party. Word of caution, never let Pete work as bartender. He serves up a vicious 40w cocktail.

I knew I wasn't the only RP fan in here. LOL
Another update on my bike. Whatever the Seafoam removed was also causing problems with my shifter. 95% of the Neutral problem I had is gone. Now when I reach for it, I can actually find it.
This just keeps getting better and better.

Cool. If I would think of taking pictures, I'd be able to post pages of them. But that's my wifes thing. And she doesn't ride that much. I'll try and think of it more often.

No such thing as mechanic in a can. And yes, I got my bike used and very abused. I was worried I was going to have to pull the whole thing apart and rebuild it when I got it but I've been able to get and keep it running while slowly doing back maintenance and upgrades. So when I put the Seafoam in, I had an idea I was going to get sludge out. I just had no idea it was that bad. But the difference was so dramatic it really caught me by surprise.
I enjoy wrenching on my stuff, but I have so many other things to do that I usually get my mechanic to do the big stuff for me. I just don't have the time. So a huge time saver like Seafoam is tops in my book. I totally 100% recommend it. Be sure to read the destructions first.

I was going to say tank venting, but cyborg got that one. Could be a badly routed fuel line also.

Saw a video on YouTude the other day that was all about people getting pulled over for doing stupid things to bikers. It was great. If I find it again, I'll post it here.

Most of those questions have been asked and answered here already. Maybe Alley can provide links to the tutorials on some of it.
For additives, You can read the thread I just posted today about Seafoam. Damn near magic stuff. Put it in your gas tank and use it a day before you change oil. Look for the Seafoam Miracle cure thread.
Yes, you can test for air leaks by spraying water or carb cleaner all over. Water will bog it down, carb cleaner will rev it up.
For a Tach, I'd get a tiny Tach and hire Glavey to hook it up for you.
The Seafoam will likely clean your fuel gauge problem.
For more answers Puh-Lease deposit $37.50 in my PayPal account and I'll get Cyborg and Alley to help you out. LOL

jct, My thoughts exactly. That's why I was careful not to add it until the day before I changed the oil.
But now...??
Normally when I'm ripped off, I call the Cops. And when someone messes with my bike, my first thought is to find'em and grind'em. But I think in this case I'll let them get away with it.
Someone stole the engine off my bike and replaced it with a new mill. Can't mistake that new engine smoothness. I won't do the Seafoam again for a while, but man o man.... a difference that made me actually look down to verify it was my engine still on there. Amazing. The power and smoothness is just stunning. It's like someone put a new engine on it. Incredible.
So, I can highly recommend you try it on your bike, especially if you have a high mileage one. But be careful you follow destructions so you don't dissolve away something important. And only leave it in for one day's worth of casual use.
EDIT: One other thing it did that had me guessing for a few minutes. The lifter knock is gone. Totally. I was trying to figure out what else was different besides the power and smoothness when I suddenly realized I couldn't hear the lifter knock anymore.
I also added Lucas Oil Treatment to it this time. I haven't done that before.
I think I love this stuff. Very seldom do I find a product that works the way it says. This is one of those rare times.

WOW.
I was re-reading the Seafoam can the other day and noticed it can be added to your engine oil. Sooo.... Yesterday I checked my oil. (Started it up and went around the parking lot a couple of times first.) It looked almost like new. I could've put another thousand miles on it with no worries. Then I added the Seafoam according to the destructions on the can. Today when I changed my oil it was blacker than an evil night and slightly gritty. WOW.
So, now I'm having lunch and I'll go for a short spin to see how she runs afterwards. But man... I haven't seen my oil that black in ... I can't recall when. I know it cleaned out something. I'll be finding out and letting you know how it runs.
Just needed to share that.
Anyone else have these kinds of results?
