This question is only for the 250 cc owners. How many of you use the interstates and have you felt safe driving on them?

I have the 250 cc (with a 300 big bore kit) MC-54-250B and I have never had any problems on the interstate. In Missouri, 250cc is the smallest engine they allow on the interstate. I don't like to drive that fast just because I prefer when I'm riding to lay back and enjoy myself. 55mph is plenty fast enough for me.

Will go one or to exits but on long runs cars seem to get annoyed . Can only hit 65 mph . Besides back roads are more fun .

Thanks. I have a 5 mile stretch where I can use the interstate or take a few side roads. Was curious if many 250 owners actualy used the interstates frequently.

Everyday that I ride my scoot I ride about a 5 mile stretch on I-74 and have no problem keeping up with the traffic.

I don't have an interstate close by but I do have US 219 & PA 56. Both are 4 lane, divided with 55mph and 65mph zones. I've run some of stretches (10 mile?) at up to about 72mph - windshield starts vibrating. There are stretches I avoid because of 2 high bridges (300+ ft high) over steep gorges that act like wind tunnels. I hate strong cross winds! I usually only run them on weekends when the semi and coal truck traffic isn't so bad. There are plenty of other back roads that are more fun so I typically use them.
None of this currently matters because they're ( 4 lanes) all construction zones now and single lane, 40 mpg.

I do not run Interstates. Primary I can not hold 65 with my scoot. Plus I really dont like to play with a lot of traffic like that. My main drive is all 2 lanes 55 mph. Now as far as this weekend goes I am not sure what kind of roads we will be driving on. Have a couple of days will be putting on close to 300 miles a day. 129 ish each way plus geocaching in the area. Should prove to be an interesting weekend.

My commute involves about 10 miles of interstate each way, and I do fine. I'm not the fastest thing out there, but I'm rarely the slowest. Actually, I feel better respected by the cagers out there than on the side roads. Never really had anything approaching a close call on the interstate.
I think of the 250 not as a touring scoot but as a commuter with interstate capability. I wouldn't want it some place like Atlanta where you might get pushed if you're going below 80.
But for sure, this thing is happiest out in the country running 50-60.

todd surprised u can only hit 65mph I have the YY250T-2 believe u have the YY250T and I can cruise have had it now to about 75mph speedo said 81-82mph and speedos off 6-7mph and I still had a little bit left but that was fast enough for me one little pot hole with those 12 inch tires scary! but if I was allowed on interstate I would, but only have my temps here in Ohio u have to have actual MC license to ride interstate and with my temps no passangeers and no night driving which i still do and have to wear helmet wouldnt ride without it but soon as I take test to get actual license I will be riding interstate heck Im passing cars running 55-60 sometimes! I guess since Im so small the scoot cant tell im on it 110lbs got weighed at drs today im a little guy!

same motor. got to be our weight difference no offence to u Im a little guy, cause im only 110lbs, I need some more weight!! but just a little guy only 5ft 4" cant never keep weight on cause of always having infections and being on antibiotics. I was 130lbs dropped down to 98lbs at one time (had to be hospitalized cause of staff infection in foot!) Yeah my last back surgery had parilized my foot and caused problems with pressure sores last summer they thought I would have to lose my leg! first think I asked was if I could still ride my scooter with a prostatic leg!! Glad though things r alot better dont think i will have to lose leg now! Just trying to add weight back on! this is the main reason I got my 150 scooter instead of small motorcycle then got hooked and just bought the new YY250T-2!!! Live to Ride Chose to Scoot!

Around here, 55 miles north of Atlanta I dont consider the 250 to be enough scoot for the traffic conditions. I had a Tank Touring 250 that would top out at 70 but there was no way I would take it on 575 with 4 wheelers doing 75-90. I ride a TGB Delivery 150 now for the most part and it tops out at 65(speeds checked by Garmin E-Trex) and holds the road better in the wind than the Tank did but I confine my riding to the local roads. More fun and great side roads to explore. For Xway riding I would want a 400 or 500cc scoot. Just MHO.

I still would take a interstate stay in slow lane and not be on it long soon as I go take My MC test just got temps so no interstates or passengers and not supposed to ride at night and have to wear helmet, which I would anyways! Here in Ohios laws.
