akafrost, I got lucky getting fuel for my scooters and bike.. A local station here started to sell 93 octane prem fuel without ethanol added to it.. In Oregon ethanol is required in fuel (10-15%), but there is a loop hole for classic vehicles, and off road riding.. So if there is someone working I don't know I will just stop back later, or fill my 5 gallon can and then fuel at home.. My bike is the twin to Cruisers and it purrs just fine on this fuel.. Happy scooting.. Dave

What type of gas do you use on Jonway yy250t? I also use premium in my YY250T. There is one station a couple of towns away that sells racing fuels which is probably the only way I could get gas without ethanol. Many scootists have tried regular (87 octane) with good results. I would try adding about a gallon or two when the tank is low and see how you like it. Let us know what happens. Eventually I want to try the lower octane. Might do it now that the cool weather is here.

=) I wish I had access to all that fancy gas. I switched to regular and the scoot seems to purr and ride better. It still starts jerking at some point though. I haven't tried adjusting the mixture screw. I hope that will fix the issue. I'll write what's up after having tried adjusting the screw.
Hey, people, who ride the YY250T, what do you think of the seat? I did couple long rides and my arse (coccyx) hurts a great deal =( The seat has an angle so the muscles are always flexed, it's really annoying, uncomfortable and disappointing.

I like the seat on mine even more than the seat on my Silver Wing. It's just more substantial and the stitching is beautiful. I haven't ridden it more than a couple of hours at one time though so maybe on a longer ride it would get to me.

Aaaaaaand I'm back! =) I had the battery on YY250T (not original, brand new) dieing too quickly . I had a guy from Advance auto parts run the test on the battery and that's what the report said: the battery is good; alternator shows 0 voltage (doesn't charge) when front lights are on and normal voltage (!)(charging) when the lights are off. (I installed the switch so I can actually turn the lights off). So now when I ride at night (with lights, working directly from the battery and inactive alternator) I can only go like 40 mins away and after that the scoot won't restart. How is it possible? Is it a bad alternator or I have an electrical problem? Thank you.

Hello. I was writing a few months ago about jerking issue while applying throttle and driving (Jonway yy250t accelerates with jerks instead of accelerating gradually and smoothly) it also doesn't go over 55 mp/h because of unbearable "shakes" and "jerks' that start at that speed (it feels like someone applies brake for a split second every few seconds). I was advised to look for vacuum leaks. Which I did. I've taken some pictures of couple of parts that I'd like to ask you a question about. How do I upload them?

Here are the pictures of the airbox and the airbox snorkel. both of them have cracks and airbox is missing the hose that is pointed with the arrow. Would that affect the engine so that is't not working smoothly, but jerks as I was describing earlier?

Yes the pictures are visible. Cracks/holes in the airbox are not a good thing and can make your scooter run as you previously described. I would try to repair those cracks with some kind of silicone sealant. That hose you refer to looks to me like a low point drain of some kind to be able to see and get ride of condensation. At any rate I would plug that up also. The idea is to have all air entering the carb to have to got through the filter and only at a certain volume at any given rpm. Any change to that throws off your air/fuel mixture and if not compensated for through jetting and exhaust pipes will cause a poor running engine. Air leaks (via cracks) can be intermittently troubling due to engine vibration, and bumps in the road making the cracks widen up and shrink in size thereby intermittently changing the volume of air entering the system. Doe any of this make sense? It's late and I'm tired.....

Good stuff, gatekeeper. I would add that the clear plastic hose is an oil catch for any excess vapor from the engine ventilation system. It can be emptied periodically by taking off the black cap on the end. If you don't have a suitable replacement hose, then it can be just capped off, but you might get some oil in the air filter housing.

Yes, it does make sense, Gatekeeper, thank you. I took the airbox off to take a closer look and I think I am just going to replace the whole thing. Quick question though. Does the filter look ok or needs to be replaced too? Thank you!

Thank you, Cruiser, for explaining the clear hose. that'd be my next question. And what is the purpose for other hoses? (I'm just trying to learn and understand how it works). Thank you!

Also, the scooter smokes a lot with black stinky smoke. What can cause that and how to fix it? ( I recently had engine and gear oils changed)
