Actually Snakedoctor, winter doesn't start until next week. We got lucky and the wind shifted a degree or two and now the lake effect is north if us. As of this morning we've gotten 66.9" with nothing major predicted for a few more days. This is the 2nd snowiest Decemberrr on record. M/C

I live in Cherokee County, metro Atlanta area. we seem to be the hardest hit in yesterdays ice storm. It started just as the afternoon rush hour got underway and it locked us down pretty good. People stuck on overpasses and the x way for hours. By my count nearly 1000 traffic accidents, wreckers could not get to them, sand trucks getting stuck. Took my wife 2 hours to get home from her new job and then had to park on the roadside and walked up our drive to the house. I walked her back down this morning. It is supposed to go up to 50 to day after 2 weeks of freezing weather. thinking about doing ride if it gets to the 50s and the driveway thaws.

Now as I look at the weather map, I see it as where the people here on the form live. Ally, northwest. o JR, southwest. CC, strait east. Wolfhound, southeast. Madcollie, Northeast. For those of you that are getting the lake effect snows, I'm sorry, you guys have to do all that shoveling. CC, that's not fair, you have a snow blower. Hey, How about some pictures of the snows of 2010. I think "LUKE" would enjoy looking at a White Christmas. Got any ?

My snowblower broke the auger chain on Tuesday so I am scrambling to repair before mother nature decides to blow some more white stuff our way, I will try to take some pictures.

Most of it has melted. Look at the drift off the garage roof.

I won't complain about the weather we're getting here after watching what is going on out west.
We here are used to and know how to handle this crap. The people in the western states are simply getting POUNDED! It may be rain and you don't have to shovel it but it can still cause massive damage.
That weather is headed my way and if/when it hits, it could help shatter the record we are very close to breaking already. This December is well on it's way to becoming the snowiest month ever on record.
Stay warm & dry folks.

OK, here is the latest in the Ga. weather picture. The middle of last week we had an ice storm that locked down Atlanta and surrounding counties. today the snow started around 11 this morning and is still snowing. We have 2.5" which does not sound like much but for us it is of epic proportions. Temp drops into the mid 20's tonight and the high tomorrow will be 30. Snow is expected to continue til after midnight. It being a wet snow the icing will be pretty bad. JR, what did I do to p@#$ you off that you would send that Arkie weather down here? However the family had a knock out Christmass dinner and when family is together all is great!!

Wolfhound, No it was not JR that sent that stuff over to you guys. We here in Chi got it yesterday on Xmas Eve and then sent it over to you guys so you could finally have a white XMAS But it made for a very nice Chirstmas with snow falling all through the evening. We got just what you got about 2.5 inchs of snow over what we already have on the ground which is about a foot. LET IT SNOW LET IT SNOW LET IT SNOW ;D Alleyoop

Well, snow it did, Alley. 3.5 " as of this morning, some snow showeres expected during the day but wont be a problem. Hi today is 30, at 4 this morning when the power went off it was 28. Old tree went down on the power lines next door. We have good linesmen here and the power was back on by 6.Primary roads in pretty good shape, secondary roads will require caution. This is the kind of snows we had in WNC mountain when I was a kid. And I remember travelling by train thru Chi Town to Fairfield Iowa with my mom to visit family in the winter. 2' or more was normal. 70 years later the thrill is gone!!!!
