$65.00 is too high. Check with our tile ad vendors at the top of the site or even Fleabay. You can easily knock $20.00 off of that price. The danger with blowing out the carb with air is the diaphragm over the vacuum slide. The float valve is also kind of delicate.

I don't see what is wrong with dressing for success.

I'll say this again, the difference between hi-test and other grades is spark retardant that keeps the gas from pre-igniting under high compression ratios. Other than that it is the same as regular with the same additives. Actually, it is not the same come to think of it....it has less energy per volume measure than regular. It's just that the spark retardants allow the high compression engine to harvest the available energy providing more power than the low compression engine. Premium gasoline is a myth, if you are not running a high compression engine you are not only wasting money but losing power.

Restrict the filter with tape or put a homemade restrictor plate in the intake. Think NASCAR.

Why not return to the configuration that was running well? Most 150 OEM jets are 104. Pull your plug after running one of those big jets and it will probably be oily black. That means it's too rich. If your mixture is correct it will be a light tan. So adjust your air intake or the jets accordingly. You can tape off an "ain't" filter until you hit the right mixture.

You also need to set your valve gaps to .004" intake and .005" exhaust. There's tutorials on the engine board in the Library.

What do you mean by a fuel float sensor? Your problem does sound fuel related but it's hard to determine exactly what you've did so far.

Most starters ground to the case they are bolted on to. Then the engine is grounded to the frame via the main engine ground. I'm not sure why you would want to ground the starter to the frame with a ground strap. But then again I'm not sure what kind of bike or engine we are talking about.

We are not sticklers about wandering around off topic a little bit here on the Doc. It's a discussion forum and that's the way conversations play out. We do discourage someone jumping in the middle of a tech discussion to ask a question about their own bike. They need to start a new thread. But on threads like this where we are trading recipes, nothing to worry about. Now where is this chile recipe!??

No man, I can't think of any spot on the case where you could look through and see light. There's a lot of oil throwing around in there and if there's an opening it will come out. Can you get us a picture? Rich
