I use Mobil 4T 10w40 in all of my scooter engines except my scrappydog 161QMK... That gets Castrol Power RS Racing 4T - 10w50 After the break in period, I use nothing but synthetic specifically formulated for 4T operation.

Do all modern Chinese scooters require premium gas? I only put high octane in my scooters.

That makes sense... Normally these scoots get a little faster with some miles, but this XMAX hasn't changed. In addition, it did come from the dealer with synthetic everything.
If you get a chance to stop by a dealer and test drive one, you should take it... You would not believe the performance Yamaha has squeezed out of a 155cc... I got on it the other other day and I maxed her out at 84MPH.... She cuts through the air like you're riding an arrow launched from a bow....
The S MAX is an amazing scooter.

Nice bike dm,,,just checked it out in a few reviews,,,cruise at 80,,,,wow,,,,,good mpg,,,,nice fit and finish,,,good price too,,,congratulations!!!! Looks like you got a winner Thanks... Yeah, the S MAX is a completely new style of scooter... It's a 4 valver with EFI... wicked fast for a 155cc... 4 valve in conjuncture with EFI makes all the difference in the world. Right now I'm in the middle of an expiremental GY6 build based on the same thing.. Taida 4 valve with ecotrons EFI... Collected the parts over the winter and now that it's warm in the shop I'm getting to it whenever time allows... I've already torn the engine down. Now, I'm onto the build..... Me and my wife both got one... She got the matte one, I got the Titan Blue...

Just finished my break in period for my new 2015 Yamaha S MAX....
This is a first... With Chinese scooters, performance seems to improve during the first 1000 miles..
Not with the SMAX. Done with break in period and it runs exactly like the day I purchased it. I was very diligent in following the manufacturer recommendations for the break in period.

Ok, SO I majorly F'd up.....
I thought the kick starter gear had to be pressed on.
What I did was put the gear on the crank, then used the boss and a large bolt as a shim to come up past the splines about 3~4mm..
I then got the original nut and put it on the threads... Got a breaker bar on the other side of the crank to hold it in place...
Hit the variator side (the variator was not installed for this) with the impact...
I hit it too much apparently and stripped the crankshaft thread ends right out... The real kick in nads? In the process I got gear so tight, when I went to remove the kick starter gear, I had to break out the gear puller.
------------------------------
What is everyone else's method for installing the KS gear?

Hi all, I bought a replacement enricher (auto-choke) for my 49cc TGB r50x. It arrived today and looks nearly identical to the one I'm replacing -- except that the male connector it has is definitely too small for the female connector that the current enricher wire/connector plugs into. The male-female connectirs currently in place are wider yellow ones. This new enricher male connector is slim and black. I thought I could scour the Internet again for the enricher that is JUST RIGHT. Or I could learn how to extract the wires from this new enrichers male connector and plug it into the current male connector system in place. Any thoughts on if and how I can do this? Thanks!! tom There's a bunch of ways to do this.... The cheapest method is just splice them together then solder. Of course, if you want the abillity to connect and disconnect, then get a couple of quick connects from any auto, hardware or or big box retail store... The best method IMO is to get an adapter plug. 3M Quick connects: In order to do the job you'll need a wire crimper with cutting shears. You likely 2 oof each #11 and #17

i wonder if there is a way to retro fit one of those ...if it really is any better than stock to a 139qmb. i think it should be a simple as an adapter plate or using the wider gears milling out the stock 139qmb oil pump housing. I have no idea. I've never opened up a GY6 50cc (139QMB). KOSO has a good page with product dimensions right here if that will help.

I really like that Lancer... A while back I was trying to decide between a Quantum Tour and the Lancer.... I wound up selecting the Quantum Tour because it was on sale and the digital dash feature. But I was really torn... I think I like the Lancers sporty look better than my Quantum Tour.

Also dmartin95 you mentioned the engine calls for a 26mm carb now in your or anybody readings opinion would it be wise to go with 26mm bc I was looking into 30 and maybe even 32mm carbs I plan on adding some performance parts in the future. Thanks again. Honestly, there's better people than me here to give you advise about what carburetor you should use. I know electrical about as well as can be, but still have a lot to learn when it comes to fuel delivery. The reason I recommend the PD26 is because that's what the manufacturer recommends. I will measure the intake in a little while, but it looks like it's a stock intake, I don't know why they call for a 26mm CVK...But the info I provided is from the manufacturer, not a web forum. My personal opinion on running a 30mm CVK is no. It's overkill. Plus, you would need a new and larger intake. 26mm CVK carb will fit your stock intake. I just purchased one of these motors and when I install it, I will be using a standard 24mm CVK, but I'm going to upjet . I'm adding a performance muffler a free flow air filter,... With the combination of larger bore, muffler and air, I'm using #40 and #120 (up from #35 and #105) ... That's what I plan on starting with... If I can't get her dialed in with that, I'll try a few more jet swaps and if I still fail, I will buy a 26mm CVK. Take note, I already have an extra 24mm CVK and jets, that's why I'm trying this combo... If I was starting with no carb, I would get a 26mm CVK.

Wow thanks alot man dmartin95. Yeah sorry Im not stupid but am new to this whole thing. I have a harness and lights etc. But what I want is some insight into everything to just set the motor in and atleast start it. So far I have CDI, Rectifier/regulator, Inline vacuum fuel valve, fuel/vacuum lines,CARB, intake/filter,fuses, spark plugs, jets, ignition coil w spark plug boot, gear oil, motor oil. Also if anyone could give me the name to these parts in the pictures thatd be great thank you all. The parts are as follows: Ignition switch (I think, if you get a clear shot I'll identify for sure) Auto Enricher (Your electric choke) Stock starter solenoid After market starter solenoid or heavy duty relay.

Yes it is tight in the second video, As far as becoming loose over some miles two things can cause that. A. Chains stretch and or the tensioner spring has weakened and no longer strong enough to keep it tight. Just get a new Tensioner. Alleyoop I thought the whole point of of a CAM tensioner was to deal with the chain stretching.... Will a GY6 chain stretch to the point the tensioner no longer works? I've never put enough miles on these scoots to get a chain to that point but always just assumed the tensioner would handle any stretching.

Oh, and take *note:
I am not recommending you buy the carburetor I linked to. I'm only providing that link for illustration purposes and to show you what the engine calls for. I provided the factory specs in the other thread you started.

Thanks Dmartin95 I will be sure to pick those anything else I should need to get this thing started up? Shes bucky naked. In the pic, she's naked.... Do you have more parts in the background? Such as a wire harness? A wire harness is a pretty crucial item. I seen your other thread where you said you kind of regret buying this motor because the lack of info... But really, there's not much different with this engine than a standard GY6 150CC Long Cases.... It has a larger head porting profile, but outer dimensions are the same. In addition, it has 61mm piston vs standard 57.8mm piston, 57mm stud spacing (b block) and oil cooling. But the crank and everything else is the same... One thing I haven't measured is the intake. The motor is rated for a 26mm CVK .... I just picked up a parts scooter from CL and may have some parts for ya... I have a spare harness.. I have the lights and sockets as well, but the bezel are faded and/or cracked (but cheap on ebay) ... Plus, I got all the switches... I got some good stuff for ya if all you truly have is what's in the pic....
