i wonder what a gy6 based scooter could be sold for if it had the very finest quality parts made for frame and engine? better metals and bearings. and come with 180cc or so crank/barrel installed. probably could still get 3 or 4 of them for the price of a vespa. plastics can stay pretty much the same, when you ding them up just order a blue set to replace the red ones you just dinged up. bikes and scooters can not always be exchanged, some times it is apples and oranges. as far as i am concerned no bike can replace the convenience of a small scooter in town to run up to the quick stop for an arm full of groceries. yea you can hang saddle bags on a bike but they still don't turn as sharp or get into quite as tight a spot as 50 with 10" wheels. and when you hit a mud puddle with the scooter your legs and feet are not out where they get wet. on the highway the advantages are tipped the other way. john Agree with you completely on the size of the 50, however..... my 150 is actually shorter than the large frame 50, the 14 inch tires are more stable on gravel and the disc in the rear gives me better stopping control on gravel. When its all said and done the 150 has better lights and has enough power to run in traffic when I need to. I am afraid of the 10 inch wheels also since I have 13's on the 50. All in all I love the 50 but the 150 is a better choice for the traffic situation around here.

Overnight my mind went to two things. First was a bumper sticker " If you can read this , thank a teacher, if its printed in english, thank a vet". Second was no wonder we all get along we seems most of us were grunts rofl.

Rich im sorry should have mentioned that I read that article by earthman. As far as the viscosity of the oil I looked and looked for the second oil while at wworld didt see it read more on the net and what I read led me to believe the 15w40 speced by C.F. has been discontinued. I use regular 15w-40 in my older high mileage truck and thought that might be a little thick.

Mrs N has been bugging me to buy a better bike like and say bye to scooters. I countered with Vespa and she about died! Went to Craigs list and found me cheaper hondas suzukies etc. I dont want one I have a hip that does not like to stradle the gas tank. I think C.F. Moto is a good alternative with the F.I. etc. 2 models are just a few inches or MM off of the JCL150C. I could be a good transition if she convinces me. I still am going to do the changes to the JCL but have read that the liquid cooling and FI give roughly 15% better performance. I have gotten used to the 14 inch tires and also the rear disc brake. I think i would escape being part of the other half.

Probably 98% of scooters being operated in China during night time hours were being ridden without lights (headlights or taillights).
How on Earth do they see to get around?! I talked to a lady recently that has spent each vacation traveling the world for the past 20 years. She's been everywhere, Russia, Morocco, Turkey, China, etc. She saw my Fashion in the parking lot the other day which prompted her to comment about scooters she's seen in her travels. She said they are EVERYWHERE overseas epecially in Asia. People often use them as their only means of transportation and it's not unusual to see someone dressed up going to some function or the scooter piled high with groceries and several passengers. They drive recklessly weaving in and out of traffic with frequent collisions. She said that just about everyone knows how to work on their scooter and keep it cobbled together. Rich
LOL I watched a video of china and the traffic those people are nuts! its totally believable they dont have lights.

I was USN reserve getting out in 63. It kind of ticks me off the senior center here is closed tomorrow for lunch, yet has a free dinner for vets on monday instead of Veterans day. kind of like having fireworks three days before independence day (4th of july) and most holidays now celebrated on a monday which looses the meanings of them. Next step will be loosing Christmas as a national holiday. john Agreed, have you read they want to honor all the civil servants that are in dangerous jobs along with us? I think thats a slap in our face. Don't take this the wrong way but all the firemen and police that I know have good jobs and all. Makes me wonder how many of these so called equivelants to what a Vet went and still goes through through could stomach it.

It was a long time ago and things are different now. I remember coming back to the states in 1970 and wondering if I was going to be welcomed or cussed. Im glad the country is behind all the vets now. Kinda feels good to answer the question so frequently asked now, Are You a Vet? I alwayts reply "You Becha"! Makes me feel even better when the person replys, "Thanks for what you did." I now say to all my brothers and sisters, Thanks.

I read C.F. specs 15w40SF oil and now im reading the stuff about Boron. What does CFMoto know we don't? First my understanding of oil is its a heavier oil than we use and second I thought SF was gone for good. Back to Boron, why not just use one of the additives from the auto supply stores that CLAIMS to seal the pores of the metal makes the rings fantastic and gives extended life to the valves.

What is your views on heavier clutch springs? I have a set of 2k springs that I am scared to install, people say it is bad. At this point I am going to try a set. The grabbing from moisture is a pain, and is causing a jerking start when first starting out in the mornings, which is bad at a stop sign when in traffic. I figure its worth a try. I initially thought it was the rear disc doing it because the trailer the bike is parked in was sloping down slightly and I was bungee cording the rear disc brake to keep it stable. I have now leveled the trailer and it still does it on damp mornings. Last thing I need is for it to grab and let go pulling out in front of a cement mixer or even worse some Woman on her Cell Phone!!
