That is maybe the best avatar on the site... . Rich Thanks Rich, I was looking around on some odd sites that had some strange and funny pics on them that who knows who posted, I came across this one and just had to laugh, the more I looked at it the more I liked it, so I thought up the little phrase about the monkey-in and the going bananas and the rest is history.....!

Your very welcome, I was just contacted by the seller who told me that he would be mailing me a new bulb out tomorrow, he said that he had not heard of this issue with the bulbs before but thinks maybe I just got a bad one, I guess I will find out when I get the new replacement, the seller responded very quick and seems to be a nice guy, I even told him I would be more than willing to pay for the couple of bucks to ship me the new bulb, because he told me to just keep the one I have instead of mailing it back to him, I figure if he is trying to help me out this way I would not be at all unreasonable for me to pay the shipping on the replacement if he will allow it. I would never take advantage of anyone so I wanted to at least make the offer in fairness.
We'll see how it all turns out here in a few days. Shan

:(I ordered this bulb the other day, got it in, put it on my scoot....very low quality in my opinion, not nearly as good of a beam as the B35 35w standard bulb I am using, and the filament is reversed in the bulb, the bulb shines up higher in the high beam mode when my switch is in the low beam position and vise versa, Total cost of this bulb is $8.48 and not nearly as good as my $1.25 bulb. Just wanted to pass this along, maybe I just got a bad one....who knows, I have requested an exchange from seller, so when I hear from them we will see how that goes, if they send me another bulb and it is a good one that works like it should and is an upgrade I will come back to this thread and correct my warning on the product. Thank you Sir, I ordered the Variator from Scappydog..... last night with the 13 gram sliders, I also ordered the gates Powerlink belt he offers in the 842 20 30 size. Thanks for all your great advice, I'm sure as I move along with this scooter and develope it into what I want it to be I will have more questions and concerns. Thanks again, Shan

I have the 842 20 30 belt on my scooter, and I may order the new variator with the 13 gram sliders and then if they are too light I can always order the 15 gram and either use them in total or mix & match and have the equivelant of 14's.
What do you think of that plan?
And thanks for the info. on the Kevlar belt being harder on the drive system, I will order the Gate Powerlink Belt instead.
When you say red line are you refurring to the scooters tach and shown red line of 8000rpm's? and if so what is the normally safest RPM on these engines to not trash them prematurely?
I normaly run about 7000-7300 rpm's when I'm making my trip into town on the highway which is about 3-4 miles of running at that rpm, is that reasonable or will this trash my engine pretty quick?
These particular engines & CVT drives are new to me, all the other motorcycles I've had in my life were typical standard shift set ups which keeps the revs down out on the road, I know these GY6 egines are high revers but like all engines I know they also have their limits and I wont to stay below that point as much as possible so it will last long enough to get my moneys worth out of it.... The whole wopping $807.00 delivered to my door....! LOL! Dang these things are inexpensive to buy just blows my mind, but I can tell they do need some upgrading in order to make them more reliable.
Thanks in advance, Shan

I'm gonna order one of the performance variators and one of those BANDO performance belts from scrappy, the variator that came on my scooter is junk, or the rollers are just junk, I'm not sure if it's a combination of the 2 that's bad or just one of them, all I know is that after my scotter get good and heated up after 5 or 6 miles I can stop at a light and then when I go to take off it moves out like a standard shift car or bike that is in 2nd or 3rd gear, very slow getting going, but if I hit a good bump while running 15-20mph sometimes the engine will rev up suddenly and it will go down to a lower ratio and then jump back to a sluggish gearing when I hit the gas, I thought messing with the rollers like I did might help with this problem but after taking my 30+ mile round trip to work today I can see that it did nothing for the problem, I want to be able to run 50-55 mph with good take off power and I thought the 14gram sliders might help me acheive that with a new and better variator.
I now have a little over 400 miles on the scoot and I noticed that the variator already has a grove worn in it by the belt approx. 1/2" from the top which may very well be causing the hanging up issue I'm having.

I took my cover off today and cleaned it all out very good and while I was at it I took the variator off and apart so I could clean it and weigh the stock rollers being that I am wanting to put the sliders in it in the near future, the rollers that came in my scooter are 16 grams I want to be able to run 55-60 mph without over reving the engine but at the same time I would like to have a little better take off, so..... I desided I would take 3 of the rollers and drill them out a little at a time until I could get them down to 14 grams, so to make a long story short I ended up drilling them out for the final time with an N size bit and each of the 3 are now 14 grams on the dot according to my scale, I took my scooter for a spin after putting it back together and it has a little more gitty up from a stand still and will do 60mph at about 7000 -7200 rpm by my tach I hit 65mph @ 8300 rpm's coming down a slight decline, so I have a combined weight now of 15 grams.
Does this sound like I would be good to go with a set of 14 gram sliders from scrappy......?
Seems that I would have a little more bottom end take off and still about the same rpm's at 60 mph with the 14 gram sliders based on the stuff I've read, so please chime in here and let me know if this sounds about right.
Thanks, Shan

Forgot! Here is my other two-wheeled interests during a weekend in the mountains of SE Oregon at our cabin. AAAAAAAAH.......! the classic old Honda trail bike, many -a- kid cut their teeth on one of those......best offroad mini bike ever made in my opinion, I never got one but my cuisin had one and we ran that thing ragged and couldnt tear it up, we rolled it, dumped it, jumped it, and wrecked it every way you can think and it just started and went. wow memories...!

Have you had to make any panic stops yet? Just wondering about the brakes..... No panic stops yet but brakes are pretty good, V brakes on front and caliper brakes on back which arent quite as good as the V brakes, but together they do the job just fine, I normally cruise at about 28-30 with the 35MPH short run run now and then, but if I'm running through town I take the back way to everything I can, I like to stay away from the 50-60MPH traffic when possible, but I sure get some big smiles when I'm in the 30-35MPH traffic and people look over and see this ole country boy running right beside them going down the street at 30-35MPH on a bicycle, even the police officers around here just shake their heads and smile at me as they usually pull away from me just because they can..... Lots of fun and NO brake issues thus far...... Go to motorbicycling.com/ check out the very good info. on the motorized bicycling and pick a vendor that has the best deal on a engine kit and build you one out of a $90-$100 Wally World beach cruiser or mountain bike, fun to build and loads of fun to ride, the 4 stroke kits cost more and are probably the most trouble free, but I like the 2 smokers because they make the bike look a little cooler in my opinion, sorta like the old whizzers....anyway I have 3 of-em and I reall y enjoy cruising around and turning peoples heads many people have never seen a bicycle with a motor before so they make a great conversation peice wherever you go. This is the type bulb my Roketa MC-74 scooter takes, cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Atv-Quad-Go-Kart-Buggie-Bike-Light-Bulb-35-350w-Parts-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem27aa76ae2cQQitemZ170363629100QQptZLHQ5fDefaultDomainQ5f100 it has one large head light in the middle and 2 of the small push in type bulbs that remind me of the push in bulbs that are used in dash lights on all the older cars and pickups if I remember right the part number on some of them was # 194 bulbs. Mine came with a 25w-25w bulb and I ordered a 35w -35w from scappy, it is brighter but I ride several miles in the dark at 5:00Am in the morning and would really like to have a better light. I think the H-4 9003 bulb may work in place of mine because my bulb goes into a socket that looks like the base of that bulb but I am not for sure, what do you guys think? the link says 350w but that is a misprint

I found this 50w bulb on ebay and I am just wondering if the electrical system on the 150cc GY6 motors will handle this large of a bulb, I currently have a 35w and it works fine but I thought if it will handle it, the 50w would be a little brighter, I also figure it will take a little more power away from the engine having to run a bulb that size but I'm just wondering if anyone has tried to use a bulb this size and if so what the results are or were. Thanks, Shan cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280524240053&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT
