Greetings, ladies and gentlemen! I'm ba-a-a-ack!!
Background: Since I got my Burgman 400, the little Romans 150 has been 'stored' - but not very well. It's been sitting on my covered patio. (HEQQ!! This is southern California!! It never rains!!)
Situation: I am giving it to my daughter. But, it won't start. It'll kick over and maybe go for about 10 seconds, then it dies. We can keep it going for a while if we spray some carb cleaner into the air filter. But that's as far as it goes. Clean the carburetor? AGAIN?!?!?!?!?
Resolution(?): Ok. I read somewhere that this guy bought a new (bigger/better?) carb and CDI for his troublesome 150. He said he has had NO trouble since. Sounds good to me! I am not concerned about upgrading for racing performance - just to get it to the point it will start without this headache.
What is the current size of the ports (manifold?)? I should get one a bit bigger, right? Any recommendations on a particular CDI?
That's it!!! Y'all have helped TREMENDOUSLY before. Looking forward for some more assistance. Thanks!!

Thanks. Can't seem to loosen them enough. Maybe it's just the way I'm looking at it when I ride... (I only have one eye...)
Appreciate the help!

Seems my handle bars point to the right more than my front wheel does. Or...my front wheel points more to the left than the handle bars do... How do I fix it? I don't think they are that far off, but the more I ride, the more I notice it. Thanks! < Steve >

Good afternoon! This past week I went to Camp Pendleton to discuss the registration requirements for the Advanced Rider Course (from the Motorcycle Safety Foundation). If you are going to ride on the base, you are required to have the classes. I would surmise that there are too many accidents when you mix Marines with crotch rockets... While BS-ing with the manager, I learned what I consider to be a very interesting bit of trivia: There are more registered motorcycles on Camp Pendleton than all states combined (excluding California): 26,000 (if I remember correctly). Yes, that includes scooters. Just thought you'd like to know! < Steve >

Just trying to see if the PDF is the problem and JPGs get thru fine... Give it a try.
I was able to open the PDF I attached. No problem.
Maybe we can figure it out.

Yeah. I thought that 8-wire connector was for a diagnostic machine or ?? When I trying to install an alarm, I noticed that the connectors looked similar. Viola!
So...I figure the 2-wire connector has to be for an additional --- that I don't have.
Thanks!

Beats me!!!! On my Romans 150cc I have a small two wire connector on the right-hand side under the floorboard. Please see the pics. Any idea what it is for??? I finally realized what the eight wire connection was for that was under the seat in the middle of the scooter. (Pic included) It was for the alarm. Of course I found that out AFTER I spent hours on the web searching for how to wire the alarm. I be learnin' a lot, thanks to you guys! Appreciate any info you can send my way. < Steve >

Thanks. Appreciate the info. I think it'll be good for a while. The unit was not snapped together completely. I bought the scooter after it had been dropped. I've done A LOT of maintenance/repair on it. It only had 23 miles on it - it now has 338 miles!

TADA!!! Fixed it. ;D
I took the electrical part off of the mechanical part of the ignition. I noticed that only two of the three catches were fully "caught".
I disassembled the piece, cleaned the contacts (with sandpaper), and reassembled. This time, I ensured all three of the catches were caught.
It has worked EVERY TIME! ;D
Thanks for your assistance and comments.

Occasionally, I have to maneuver the key in the ignition to get it to the position that the lights would come on so I could start it. That was then. Now, I can't even get the lights to come on. The wires to/from the ignition appear to be fine. Are the ignitions touchy? Is there an adjustment within the ignition that needs to be tightened? Or is it usually a culprit? Thanks!! I have been riding it. I've put almost 300 miles on it!! ;D < Steve >

Thanks!
Just to be sure you understood me correctly...
I only added the NCY plate, nothing else. No plugs, nada.
Is that all I need to do?
