Once I got the intial pdi problems out of the way by getting George to fine tune my bike, I really like my Roketa 54B 257cc bike. It has a linhai yamaha clone engine and I have had no problems with it. It is a heavier bike (almost 400 lbs net weight) It has enough power to do highways with ease and even though I am still in the break-in stage, I am averaging 80 miles per gallon. That is a combination of short spirt driving and driving 20 miles to and from work with 4 lane roads doing about 55 to 60. (speed limit). I like it. I like the windshield which does an amazing job of keeping most of the wind off of you (you still get wind, just not as strong) so you don't tire as quickly. I agree with jr. The 54B for me, has been a positive experience (of course, I only have 200 miles on it. Next week, I am going to do an oil change and crank case oil change.

Mac - you're from Moon Twp? My daughter used to work there. ccprof I spent the first 25 years of my life in moon twp. As an adult I have had homes in center twp, PA and also in Isle of Palms SC. I moved to ohio about 10 years ago to be close to my daughter and grandchildren. Where did your daughter work in Moon Twp. and when?

I grew up in "Moon" and went to moon high school. It is a township northwest of pgh. PA. There was no city name, just "Moon" The closest town was Coraopolis, Pa and so moon kind of adopted the name of "Coraopolis Heights" because it was above Coraopolis. Now, I guess it is offical. Coraopolis Heights is the official name, it has its own post office. So Coraoplis Heights is in Moon Township.
At the end of the Parkway, there used to be a sign that said, "Welcome to Moon". And another sign that said "Mars" with an arrow to the right. I dont know if it is still there or not. That area has changed drastically. The old Greater Pgh Airport has moved twice, 1st when it became the "Greater Pgh International Airport, then again to robinson twp. I have not been back for years, so I don't know.

Helmets?

middleagescooter, I too, am curious, which scoot did you go with? For advice about helmet, I would go to a motorcycle shop and try some on. Even if you end up buying on the net, at least you will have a general idea of what you like. I have an open face and a full face. The open face one, I get bugs splating on my face all summer. A bug hitting your face when you are going 55 or 60 miles an hour can really sting. Of course I wear sun glasses to protect my eyes. Now on my full face, my face screen is adjustable, I can lift it all the way up and wear my sunglasses or, put it partially down with my sun glasses, or when its cooler or at night, where it almost all the way down. It gives me more of a choice than my other helmet. It really is a personal preference. As long as it is a DOT rated helmet, go try some on, then order the one you feel most comfortable with. Trying them on first will also give you an idea of what size you wear. Although different helmets run different in shape to your head and face, I have found that I wear a small in any helmet I have tried on.

Cookees- why won't these bikes pass Penn Dot? They have mirrors, tail lights, turn signals, etc. So why won't Penn Dot approve them for street use?

I loved the sixties. What terrific memories. I look at those young people in that video and have a hard time remembering that I was just like them during this period. It is so strange. I feel young in my brain, but the image of what I was at that age is hard to remember.

mthomas, kids go with you? Very nice. I have some teenage grandkids (not quite driving age yet) who want to ride with me but I have never had a passenger and I am afraid to try it. The 250 bike is quite heavy for me at stops, etc. I am afraid if I had someone on the bike with me, my bike would just fall over when I stopped. Because I am older, female, and have some muscle atrophy due to pinched nerves all up and down my back, I have muscle weakness. And because of that, I am afraid to try passengers. Is there a safe way to find out if you can handle passengers, without actually putting a passenger on your bike?

My first computer was a commodore vic 20. Then later I got the commodore 64. Then a 286, and the upgrades kept coming after that.
I don't belive Iwould buy the new 64 because even though it is a dual processor, it is only 1.8 dual processor. Plus it runs linux and I prefer windows 7. I still have vista (64) on my old pc, but my laptop has windows 7 and I prefer it. I will probably upgrade to windows 7 on my pc very shortly. Vista is still too problematic.

Don't buy the 99 dollar camera! You will be in the doghouse forever!!!! Remember, I am female. I know these things!! You need to get a nice camera. Nice being the keyword. Not cheap. She probably loved that camera. She won't hate you for breaking it. She will still love you (if she is a "typical" wife, if there is such a thing). But she will really miss her camera. The only way to ease that pain, is to get another camera a little better than the one she broke. Trust me on this one ;D

Hey Mcalli, I have inlaws just across the border in PA. I must say that going through Ohio, your state has the most State Troopers I have ever seen. My God woman, there must have been a trooper every 5 miles. What is that about? Was it the last couple of days of the month when you were traveling thru Ohio? They try to zap as many people as they can on the last couple of days of the month to make up for not applying themselves the rest of the month. Now, try to find a state trooper any other day of the month when you need them? They are nowhere to be found.

Actually, it is funny now that I understand it. mthomas. I will add that to our poll. :)Now for the big surprise. The winner of this useless poll will receive a prize from jryan. Yep you hear correctly. JR will ship to you, across the country or anywhere in the world, third class, a dozen of his very ripe tomatos. How is that for a prize? ;D Of course, with the addition of this wonderful prize, I expect a lot more participation.
