I did consider a travel trailer but decided against it for a couple reasons. Around here it's hard to find a used travel trailer, plus I have some antique furniture I refuse to part with, it belonged to my grandparents and it would never fit in a travel trailer. We have a couple local (within 50 miles) dealers of travel trailers and even the used ones there are well over $15K. Anything I have seen under that need major overhaul, basically need fully rebuilt inside which would cost a few thousand anyways. If I can use a former road trailer as the shell, then the shell will only cost about $1300, plus having someone deliver it. I can do most the construction interior work and I know the instructors at the local community college for the electrical classes, they are certified master electricians and are willing to inspect and do the breaker hookups if I run the wires. I do know I can do the work and just have a licensed contractor inspect the work and do the final connections. Right now I'm waiting for an answer from the local building inspectors about tiny homes, that will be the major factor in what I can do in the future.

Yeah, even if it is epilepsy I couldn't afford to buy meds every month and the seizures last less than 1 min. I simply place him beside me and stroke him gently until it passes. He'll lay there quietly as he comes back to himself but after about 15 mins he's back to being a normal energetic kitten. He doesn't seem to recall them at all. I have found that he is both hungry & thirsty right after a seizure so I make sure he has food & water available.
Needless to say, I've been reading up on cats with epilepsy. Many people say even with meds daily the cats still have seizures. All recommend having at least water available afterwards, most say have high protein food also. Saw a couple people recommend giving them a little omega3 fish oil, that's fairly inexpensive and I can buy gel caps & puncture them to give him the oil. The fish oil won't hurt him and at a minimum, he'll have a pretty coat.
Right now poor Loki is curled up next to me sleeping. Think he had another seizure while I was outside at the clothesline. Pepper is curled up with him, I've noticed she seems to stick close to him after a seizure, like she's comforting him. The adult cats are all more gentle with Loki versus the other kittens, i'm sure they know something is wrong with him.
Had a couple people say I should just put him down if I can't afford to have a vet see him. Told them they were idiots, he has a healthy quality of life otherwise. If he ever gets where he is suffering, yes, then I will put him down.
Had a boxer way back in 2000/2001 that had heartworms when I got her. Checked with 3 vets & they all said treating her was just as likely to kill her as cure her because she had them so bad. Had her for 18 months before she began to have difficulty breathing due to the heartworms and she had to be put down. But during that time, she was loved on by not just me, but my whole family. Most my nieces/nephews were elementary school and younger and they all adored Missy. Even my dad cried when we had to put her down and he wasn't much of an animal person.

Scary thing happened again tonight, little Loki had another seizure. Last one was May 31 but he'd been sick & running a fever so we thought that was what caused them. Unfortunately, vets want $75 for regular exam & say he would prob need specialized tests costing a few hundred more. Living on disability, I just don't have that kind of money to spare. I have no idea what triggered this seizure either, he was just laying on the back of the couch and fell off. I don't know if he fell because he was starting to seize or if he started because he fell. Regardless, it lasted less than 1 min and he seems fine now. My son wanted Loki to be his cat but with the seizures, he will have to be mine. I can adjust my life to care for him far more easily than a man in his early 20's.

Nope but I do like country music. Alabama, Rascal Flatts, Alan Jackson, etc. HeeHaw was more bluegrass. Hey I warned ya I was a country girl. Growing up we had a huge garden and my grandpa raised rabbits. We'd butcher them every fall. Lots of people round her raise chickens for Tyson & after the catchers come through, there's always chickens left. We'd go out and catch them, bring them back to grandpa's and then wring their necks. Us grandkids used to compete to see who could send the body flying the farthest. You just swing that ole chicken around over your head and crack the whip. But for some reason, our parents didn't trust us to chop the heads off. We'd go out by the roadsides and into cow pastures picking blackberries and whatever other fruits we could find and my grandpa make jam & jelly & wine. True story, he made a bunch of blackberry wine back in 1980 & a box got lost in his basement. It was found after he died in 1993. My uncle wouldn't let nobody taste it, instead he used it to strip the paint off a lawnmower.

Hehe, I know he is. I just love it when guys try that though, some guys can't stand the idea of a woman knowing how to fix mechanical stuff. When I was doing the front end on my Ford truck, had a guy sit & watch me off & on for over 3 hrs. When I was done, he came over & introduced himself, then asked me out. Said he'd told his momma if he ever met a woman could work on cars, he wanted to marry her. Didn't take him up on the offer though, I have an age limit for dating and he was wayyyy under it, don't think he was even 25 yet. I even got propositioned by one of my sons' friends but I won't date anyone more than 10 yrs younger than me. My boys will be 21 & 22 this yr & their friend is 24.
My momma went back to college when I was in high school, she studied industrial mechanics & got her degree, then went to work for Lowes Hardware in a warehouse job driving forklifts, till she got hurt when an idiot ran into her and pinned her between his forklift and a conveyor system.
Wanna know something weird bout my family? I have 2 brothers named John & both middle names start with "H". John Herbert born Oct 1970 & John Henry born June 1974. John Herbert is my half-brother & his momma put him up for adoption when he was born. He never got to meet our daddy but we see him about once a year. And the best part is, the Johns could pass for twins, even with the 4 yr age difference.
I done decided I ain't loaning nobody else no money & that includes gas money for my son's scoot. He wants gas money to go visit friends, he can pick up cans to recycle. Places round here all want online job applications these days so he don't need gas money for that. I'll still buy the rabbit food but only cause I won't see an animal go hungry and it's not but $6 every 3 months. And people can fix their own vehicles or pay someone else to do it.

I once tickled a trout to catch it barehanded, beautiful rainbow trout too, good eating onthe grill with just a touch of butter & lemon juice.
It was a bet, guy bet I couldn't catch one barehanded (he was drunk). He put up $100 but when I caught the fish, he paid up.

Naw, just thought that was interesting cause she competed in the men's class & won. Things like this is why people in other countries think Southerners are crazy, lol. I'll catch a lot of stuff - snakes & snappers for example but I ain't sticking my hand in no hole under water for a fish to bite me. Even spiders don't bother me but I gotta watch out with them cause I'm allergic, even to common non-venomous types.

Luke, I'm 100% female, don't know why it would have said male at any time. Even in my first post I said I was female. scooterdoc.proboards.com/thread/9713/new-memberAs for me being mechanic, my daddy didn't want his daughters getting took to the cleaners if we needed a vehicle worked on so he made sure we learned basic car car, like tuneups. I've always been a tomboy, spent my summers with my grandfather doing construction and restoring antiques. I married a mechanic way back in '91 and we were married for 17 yrs before I called it quits for abuse. But over the years with him, I learned to do more on cars. Along with regular maintenance, I've replaced starters & alternators & radiators. Thermostats are a piece of cake for me, I've done so many. Rebuilt the front end on a 1984 F150 by myself. My grandpa use to joke that I was "contrary". I hated dresses & girly stuff but loved to follow him around so he humored me. After all, my parents had 2 other girls, the oldest who loved all the frilly stuff. Only time I wore a dress was for church and that was only because I wouldn't disrespect my Poppie, no matter how much I hated dresses. See, he wasn't just my grandpa, he was my pastor too, but them Sunday shoes & socks came off soon as we got in the car & I was always the first one in the house, getting that dress off & back into comfortable clothes, lol. And I didn't say head gasket, I said both VALVE COVERS & REAR BRAKES. The old valve covers were slightly warped where they'd been dropped or something so it was new chrome valve covers & gaskets but the TBI had to come off first. That was a pain cause of where some of the bolts were located, my hands barely fit and they're small compared to most male mechanics. I'm not good enough to get a job at it but unless it's something major I can keep a car/truck on the road. Never rebuilt an engine or tranny alone but I've helped the ex w/ a 2300 in a Mustang & a Ford Aerostar Automatic tranny.

Didn't overstep, I just got more info after I had posted. He's not been calling anyone cause he hasn't had a phone at all. Our youngest sister got him a cheap tracfone so he can at least call if he needs something but he'll be limited on minutes & I told her to let him know to save those minutes for the dr office & disability atty. They can't get one of those free gov't phones cause someone previously got one at that address. Even with a lease showing who lives there now, the address is not eligible, that sucks too. He's barely making his own bills & I won't take food out of a kid's mouth, no matter how bad I need the money myself. Some days I wish I'd never moved back here & I had stayed in Roanoke VA. At least there I could go to a plasma center 2x week to donate, that'd get me close to $200 extra a month. Right now the only way I can get extra money is viewing websites to determine if they need to be classed as "adult" and that only brings about $1.50 to $2 per hour but I make enough each month to cover my internet and a little more but not enough to effect my disability payments, lol. Last check was a grand total of $79.46 but I put in as much or as little time as I want.

Peeled all my stickers off cause I don't like the color combo. Plan to paint it come winter but I found out something interesting. The Goo-Gone power gel (the kind w/ citrus extracts) will remove the paint that was under the stickers. So I now have a couple small white spots where it is supposed to be black.I like the blue but I'm thinking about making it resemble carbon fiber in teal where it's currently black & white. I can get a shade I like in a spray can but I also have an airbrush kit only it runs on cans of propellant so I would probably need to buy more of them to do it that way.
However, before I get ready to paint, I will definitely need a better cover than I have now. Can anyone recommend a good waterproof cover to fit these? Current cover is for a mid size motorcycle and it covers mirrors/trunk & almost to ground. However, it was a quick purchase @ Big Lots and is not waterproof in even medium rain.

Saw a guy on 49cc scooter forum mention this site so checked it out. Lets you record your fuel ups and keeps track of cost/mpg/etc. If you want to add a scooter, you go to motorcycle & add "other". I added my scoot since she's new and plan to use this site to keep track of my costs. If anyone joins and wants to see how my scoot runs, I go by genseeker there, same as here. And to make sure I don't forget, I can snap a pix of my odometer & the gas pump, then enter data when I get home. Also I'm emptying my coin bank, have a little over $31 to go on the Wilco card, that'll keep me in gas for a few months, lol.
Found out it is 5.3 km or 3.29 m round trip to my nearest groc store.

The only reason I haven't bugged my bro for the money he owes me is when his boss found out about the cancer, he was let go, unfortunately he was still in a temp-to-hire status so nothing he could do. All told he is supporting 6 kids; 2 are his & wife's, 2 are his w/ ex-gf, & 2 are wife from prior marriage where the ex is deadbeat & won't pay the child support yet won't sign his rights over to my bro either. I hate the guy simply because he pops in & out of the kids life any time he feels like it & they can't do nothing cause of the way the custody order was done when she divorced. Judges in this county care more for rights of deadbeat dads than men who marry the mom & want to be the dad in every way, even legally. My bro is the only REAL dad either those kids have known but if something was to happen to her, courts would make my bro give the kids to the deadbeat. He shows up maybe 1x month, if that & then only wants to take his son. My bro has been working temp jobs that barely keep a roof over their heads. They can't get food stamps for the 2 w/ the deadbeat dad because DSS says my bro ain't supporting them, even though deadbeat is about 5K behind in support (that's about 3 yrs worth). Deadbeat only pays enough to stay outta jail, & the support worker won't help. And neither my bro nor his wife can afford atty to sue deadbeat for her to have sole custody & terminate hos rights so my bro can legally adopt.
Like I told him though when I found out, if it'd been anybody else, I'd been filing a police report cause we have a written agreement. Plus, I know that when he can afford it, he will be back around & he will eventually pay me. I went through this with him 1x before & it took him a couple years but he paid me everything he owed, plus he figured interest & paid that.
The dr is telling him he has liver failure & lung cancer, mostly from jobs he's had in the past. He's worked really dusty conditions, like roofing & insulation work. He's had to take a wide variety of meds and dr thinks that's what damaged his liver. Found out from my younger sis that he's not really talking to anyone much right now. But he's gotten back on at a place he worked in the past, only thing is it's 7 days on/7 days off and it's temp-to-hire. No idea how that will affect his disability application but I told him it looks like lung cancer & liver failure are pretty automatic qualifiers. Dr says at the rate his liver is failing, he has less than 18 mos if he can't get a transplant. That scares me cause he's only 34 right now & he has 2 kids not even in school yet.
My bro also drove a truck over here to try to help me with the old scooter, even though it had a dead tag, needed the front end replaced & tires. He risked getting stopped by cops to come help me, told him he shouldn't have done that. His reply was that no one else was trying to help me. Guess he's just trying to take everything in right now & get a grip on what the dr has told him. Found out he hasn't even talked to our sis in over a week & as for the other 2, well he hasn't talked to them in a couple months. So even though sometimes it's hard to get him to help, at times he has done way more for me than anyone else in my family. If push comes to shove, he'll run an illegal vehicle cross-country to come help me. He's prob the only one in my family I'd be willing to still help.
