the stock air box has restrictions built in allowing a very specific amount of air into the carb. this, along with the proper jets, maintains a balanced air/fuel mix for the engine. installing the unifilter disturbs the mixture and you are forced to do one of two things: restrict air intake or upjet to allow more fuel.

sounds like you're running way too lean. first thing i would do is open up the carb and see what size jets are in there. and please don't run it without some kind of air filter.

On my 150, removing the cover and turning the clutch bell by hand WILL turn the rear wheel. It should NOT turn the clutch, belt or variator until it hits more than like 2k rpm. the clutch should then engage and turn the rear wheel. if you can turn the clutch bell with the motor off and engage the clutch, there is a problem.

how old are the seals? i don't think it's mandatory to change them but always a good idea. if the seals are fairly old, i would change them out. just because i wouldn't want to go back in a second time to save a few bucks.

just a tip: when reinstalling the sending unit, leave some slack in the wiring. installing too tightly may cause erratic behavior of the unit.

update: moving the float manually moves the indicator so not seeing a problem with the setup. just not sure how much reserve is.

almost ready. so after my pdi i just put fuel into my new rocketa 150 which says it has a 1.6 gal tank. I put .6 gal in and the indicator reads just above empty, (reserve?). is there a minimum amount of gas that the indicator should be reading or is there an issue somewhere else?

Not trying to hijack a thread but I'd like to share my experience with Superior power sports. On July 3, I ordered a TaoTao Lancer. Not having the full amount for the bike, I placed it on layaway until August 3. I made final payment and didn't hear anything from them so I live chatted with Amy on the 11th and was told that a side panel was damaged and that they were waiting on a replacement. After having no word I again contacted Amy on the 18th and was told by the shipping dept that the bike was too damaged to ship. Ok, now what? Amy and I agreed to replace the bike with a Rocketa 23y. This bike was shipped on the 19th and arrived in good condition on the 28th. The few minor issues I've discovered so far: missing front axle nut, high beam indicator doesn't work, can't mount trunk to base as the release button doesn't function. Over all, I'm not disappointed and understand that sometimes stuff happens.

the permatex product you mention is meant for valve covers, not heads. i use it to seal the carb to manifold on my moped but i don't believe it will withstand engine compression. you may be able to fabricate a head gasket out of copper sheeting.

recommended gap for 50, 125, 150cc would be .022/.025 but will change from engine to engine depending on atmospherics and riding style.

i think i remember something on the news not long ago about paypal tricking folks into a paypal credit agreement so that they can charge extraordinarily high interest rates on items purchased.
