i don't know alot about the riva but if there are alot of miles on it i'd bet on worn rings. try this, do a compression test. then remove the spark plug and drop a teaspoon of oil in the cylinder and repeat the test. if the compression increases, worn rings. if it doesn't, valves.

can you cut the electrical connectors off the old switch (giving yourself plenty of wire to work with) and splice them onto the new switch? seems to me this would be the easiest thing to do.

I've heard that you would need to let the engine sit overnight before doing a valve adjustment, that it needs to be dead cold. I could be wrong.

Personal preference. Just use a name brand. I haven't had any problems running regular 10w40 dino oil in mine and a lot of folks go with 10w30 for the winter. What's the best oil? Ask a hundred different folks, get a hundred different answers.

you can always unplug everything, install a new fuse, then plug things in one system at a time. slower than an electrical meter but you should still find the problem.

mopedarmy.com is the forum you need for moped related questions. there is an abundance of information there for all moped owners. i know treatland.com has tires but you'll have to look for your size.

I won't say that this is your issue but my 2 strokes will do that when the exhaust starts building up deposits. have you tried a new spark plug?

guess I'm just one of those lucky few who live in a state that says engine displacement doesn't matter, if it goes faster than 30, it's a motorcycle and you'll need a license.

A 49cc is what it is and with that being said if you're looking for more speed you should consider a bigger bike. yes there are performance upgrades for them but for any real speed gain you'll end up going bbk and final gearing upgrades. and after all that money gets spent upgrading, you could have gotten a bigger bike. just sayin.

So on my Jonway yy150t-12 I just did my oil change, (once @ 50mi, 250mi, 500mi) and did the adjustments for the brakes and valves. I'm not complaining but do the 150's actually have that much power to smoke the rear tire? Especially with my 220# on it. I pulled out of my driveway ant it just wanted to GO!

some bikes the light is for cell phone, other bikes it comes on when it's time to change the oil. depends on how yours is set up.

check and make sure the fuel filter isn't clogged up. make sure fuel is reaching the carb. there may be something in the tank blocking the fuel flow or the tank may not be venting.
